Literally nobody puts sugar in the crust.

Actually most American styles use about 1% sugar because it causes the crust to crisp up and get that nice golden brown colour.
Italian style pizzas normally don't unless it's during the proofing of the yeast.

Listen, sugar isn't a food, and shouldn't be an ingredient at all.
It's a food-safe bulking agent. Used to make the food you buy weight more.
That's how it's used in the industry.

Sugar is required for the yeast to become active and rise the dough. Yeast eats sugar and make bubbles.

Not needed. My dough is yeast, salt, and flour. That's it. That's all you need. 24 hr rise.

No, yeast needs a source of carbs to consume but the flour used in the dough is sufficent.

this is something people need to get their heads around
I ate all the pizza, pasta, fatty meat, etc. in the world when I was in Rome - but I felt great. They didn't put all the crap into it. Most oils were olive oil, no goofy preservatives, pasta was made right there out of whole ingredients.
Somewhere I read that all this gluten-sensitivity stuff in the US may be because our wheat and bread products have so much more than overseas. A friend who is gluten sensitive is able to eat bread products from Europe.
You can make nearly anything acceptable if you were to make it yourself.

This extends to IIFYM - don't try to claim that all fats are the same. Omega 3 vs 6 ratio is a real thing. Same with carbs - sugar and sweet potatoes are not the same. Even proteins, given the amino acid balance - but it's less of a problem with meat sources.

      >but their food is some of the lowest quality, most unhealthy slop I've seen in any country.
You have never been to Japan, m8
Japan has the highest quality ingredients in the world
China and the US are tied for worst

      >China and the US are tied for worst
      Proud American here.
You could say America is the worst because everything, knowingly, has shit added to it. Horrible shit that is banned in real countries or will be some day.
You could say China because of shit unknowingly added to things - contamination, chemicals, etc. That said, don't get me started on the parts of Africa that literally fry food in PCB laden transformer oil.
If you wanna go down an interesting rabbit hole - we also cook things in transformer oil. There is a food grade and an industrial grade of one specific oil. It's used to reduce caking. The refinery in Vicksburg, MS makes both grades.

We have gluten problems in Europe too. It’s likely just due to shit diet. If you buy bread made of good ingredients, regardless of continent, it will be edible

I went to italy for a conference and felt like absolute shit because of the food. I'm used to low carb, meat and vegetable lifestyle. Those motherfrickers eat straight grains with nothing for every meal. They didn't do vegetables, they hardly did meat-- just endless piles of risotto, pasta, pizza, and similar glucose bombs. I lost weight because I couldn't stand to eat the food. I also started popping acarbose like crazy just to get through the mandatory business meals. If I hadn't thought to bring any I would have been flattened.

To jumpstart the proofing, sure, the yeasts will eat it all anyway.

          >pizza stone for your oven ~20$
          >Pizza Peel ~20$
          >high gluten flour 5lb ~7.50
          >Jar of whatever sauce you like ~5.00
          >Fat free mozarella 4.00/7oz
(this is discounting toppings for ease of calculation and water/yeast for the dough because it is so fricking cheap)
For 4 12" pizza you will use 1.5lb of bread flour, 16 oz of fat free cheese and 1/4 of a jar of sauce. That is (2.50+1.25+9.14)/4 which works out to 3.225$ per pie discounting the ~40$ in start up costs.

For our comparisons we're going to use Dominos 12" cheese (15.99) and little caesar's (7.99). We're going to assume that you don't tip, don't pay taxes and walk everywhere because I'm lazy.

          3.225x+40=15.99x x=3.13357
          3.225x+40=7.99x x=8.39454

So if you're eating dominos you start saving money after your 4th pizza whereas if you like eating little caesar's you start saving money at the 9th. This is also discounting the Calorie difference in between the two pizza, and other intangibles such as being able to choose your own toppings. If you don't want to use fat free cheese you save significantly more money, although you can also use nicer cheese which again changes the calculations a bit. Of course if you buy a used pizza oven off of craigslist the calculations change a bit too, but the overall point stands.

Carbs are literally not your enemy. It's only become a problem because of modern lifestyles being primarily sedentary. All generations before us were stuck doing manual labour so it was perfectly fine for them to have carbohydrates. Carbs are also the only fuel source for your body. Even fat and protein are broken down with lyposis and gluconeogenesis to make glucose/glycogen.

Undoubtedly. If people were consuming mostly complex carbs it wouldn't even be that much of an issue but seeing how most people get 50%+ from refined simple sugars it's a real shitfest. And people wonder why they're always tired and devoid of energy during the day when they slam HFCS unknowingly on almost every meal.

No it's literally not. It's not just "cleaner calories" as in not getting. It's also eliminating all the added chemicals that are in all the processed foods that you get at the supermarket. There are large metaanalysis that heavily indicate a destructive effect on the stomach and gut. It's going to destroy your health long term even if you're not getting fat. Wash your damn vegetables and fruit. Buy untreated, if possible: locally produced and most importantly COOK YOUR OWN FRICKING FOOD

most pizzas aren't thin crust, most pizzas are heavy on cheese, extremely greasy, have a lot of sugar in the sauce, and are covered in processed meats like pepperoni and sausage, the macros of which are far from ideal. a thin crust pizza with homemade dough, a bit of mozzarella, a healthier sauce, chicken and vegetables, for instance, will be much healthier, yes.

    >Why is it considered such a junk food?
The typical combination of salty dough, sauce and cheese is very easy to overeat. A salad with a slice of pizza is no problem but 3-4 slices of just pizza nets you way too much salt and saturated fat with more calories than you probably needed and no fiber. Enjoy retaining water and being constipated the day after a pizza party.

It's not necessarily ingredient quality either, but the ratios. Not saying to go eat goyslop Pizza but even regular pizza is reasonably considered junky (unless they go light on the salt and cheese)

  20. 6 months ago

The fat to protein ratio is way off. Even thin crust has a lot of carbs.

Keto doesn't work for people who are actually active, I've gave it so many chances and everyone I know who actually tries hard in the gym have come to the same conclusion.

Shawn Baker hasn't eaten carbs in over 5 years. He's extremely active.

          Anonymous

Yeah but the only time he ever took a drug test publicly it was really clear from his blood work that he was rebounding after using gear. I mean you can cut with keto but I wouldn't as a natty.

            Anonymous

Actually his blood tests prove he isn't on gear. People who inject testosterone have supraphysiological levels in their blood.

              Anonymous

He had very low levels that can only be explained by him coming off right before the test and not being fully rebounded. Guys simply can't have levels that low and do what he does there is no other worldly explanation.

Show one example of a known roider getting results like that.

His blood tests show he is natty. His body is actually using the testosterone. Unlike Mic the Vegan who has testosterone floating around in his blood but looks like a weak gay.

Furthermore Shawn Bakers testosterone blood tests have increased the longer he has been on the diet. I don't think pointing out his blood tests is the huge win you believe it is.

Some people are more sensitive to testosterone than others. It absolutely is possible to have lower levels of T and do what he does.

Carbs in the dough cause a glycemic response and the insulin transports the fat straight to adipose tissue. That's why people don't get fat on keto diets.

It's only bad because it is made with added sugar, seed oils, and it's non-organic. Buy organic cheese and sauce, make your own dough, and it's excellent.

If you have an extra chest freezer with racks, you can pizza prep about a month in advance. Make all the pizzas as normal, freeze them on the racks instead of cooking them, then grab one out once a day and cook it. You get delivery quality for about $3-4 a pizza, less if you buy bulk.

Pizza is literally nothing more than bread, tomato, cheese, and a little olive oil. These things are clean and healthy to eat, but Americans ruin it by putting shit like sausage and barbecue sauce on it. It doesn't have to be a ridiculous calorie bomb, but fat fricks can't help themselves. Americans are so disgusting that they dip their pizza abominations in ranch dressing.

I went to a place that had indian pizza, like butter chicken pizza, tikka masasla pizza, it wasn't very good lol. But normal pizza? its good. you can have plain margherita pizza and that's good too, but so is the double triple bossy deluxe pizza. Do i eat it? no, my limit is like 1200.
