There are more toxic behaviours however. You parents for example will always present a barrier between what they expect of you and what you truly want. There is no young adult that doesn't have to fight against their parents wishes and viewpoints when following their dreams. But the thing is that you have to surpass them as well as all the people you know if you wanna get to a point no one of them has ever gotten to.
And this should go without saying, but this is one of the taboo things you cannot talk about with ironically the closest people to you because it will make them feel like you are putting words into their mouth when their reactions are just what every normal person would think when they see somebody who has not made it, put in the steps towards making it. Main Character Syndrome as was mentioned in this thread happens when somebody talks about their aspirations and dreams and the truth they have undoubtedly experienced from it openly with people who have no idea what they are talking about. Your dreams should always stay in your heart where only you have access to them. Do not talk about them with other people.
