A lot of it is about your environment, habits (which you have learned over decades, and especially from your parents/family) and genetics. So start by changing your environment to fit with the disciplines and practices you want to do, and begin to cut out bad habits and replace them with good ones. Just do a small step at a time. Don't try to be heroic, just make realistic changes. Over time you will become the person these things will create.
