They're so close to being god tier, like there would seriously be no competition for retail gyms if they had normal rules and dropped the obviously fake normalgay pandering

Yep if they added barbells and squat racks they would be god tier but no one who is serious about lifting is gonna go to a gym without barbells. Also I have heard their dumbbells only go up to 70 lb

Around where I am, even the 24 hour fitness is not 24 hours post covid. PF is though.

I goto LA Fitness for sauna mostly & they do have more equipment & barbells which is nice but they close @ 10pm, and earlier on weekends.

They are on the hunt for either wiener, pussy or both. It's just thirsty fricking people desperate for attention.

Correct but, also the hours. And primary reason is to just get a pump. Secondary trying to get dick sucked.

The pandering works for me in a reverse-psychology way
      >trying to hit a PR
      >surrounded by tootsie roll wrappers and signs telling me it's okay to be a weak baby who's afraid of judgement
      >power through it and hit the PR to prove Planet Fitness wrong

I workout here. I like it because it's cheap. My gym is new and I am getting good gains here.

I am amazed at how cheap they are.
    Can't stand the purple machines.
Also, I enjoy my home gym too much to bother with a commercial gym.

They’re cheap because they bank on majority of their paying “customers” to forget they even have a subscription there after everyone gives up on their New Year’s resolutions. apparently they also make it a hassle to cancel the membership.

Does anyone else who goes to planet fitness notice quite a few big dudes at your gyn? When I signed up to Planet Fitness I didn't expect to see any guys with really big muscles there, but I've seen several dudes who come to my Planet Fitness who are very obviously on roids. Why are they even at Planet Fitness? I'm guessing either because it's cheap or they want to feel like the big guy in the gym.

To get pussy since they mog everyone. It's harder to stand out at some influencer gym where everyone is a roidtroony but among natty dyels at planet fitness you are gigachad as a roidtroony.

I would actually really like a PF near me for isolations machines.

They're good for novices. Especially an absolute beginner who's scared to even store into a gym.
And they do their job if you're an experienced lifter. Although Fit4Less is better cus they have free weights.

Only problem is that they're PACKED. Usually with kids and annoying boomers.

If they stopped the free pizza days I'd day it would be the best casual gym. But it's hard to like a gym whose business model is inducing self sabotage and creating literal paypigs

How do you actually manage to workout at planet fitness? Every single one I've been to in my city only has machines or dumbbells that max at 35lbs. Do you just do cardio or something?

            Anonymous

They have dumbbells up to 75.
And idk what the smith machine hate is about.

You can still do squats, dl, and other such workouts.

            i'm just a fitizen, i'm not trying to be a 350lb strongman.

Dumbbell weights vary. I've seen them max out between 60 and 100 lbs at different locations. Smith machine is a deathtrap. You're stuck on a track and can't get the natural movement that exercises require. There's also no rowing machine at any location I've visited and they'll hit the "lunk alarm" when I get too into my workout. I've even heard of people being asked to leave for going too hard. I personally believe it's a great place to start but once you outgrow it, find something better.

                set the safeties
                >can't get the natural movement that exercises require
free weight clearly preferable but smith machine is 90% of the way there with the right form
                >no rowing machine
row on the smith machine, it's actually great

Planet Fitness is pretty good. I think it got hate because barbell compounds were all anyone cared about 10 years ago. I'm not saying they're useless now, but you can build a decent physique without them.

  12. 11 months ago

I hear few have barbells and only have dumbbells up to 60lbs.

  13. 11 months ago

The biggest sin of Planet Fitness is that they crowd out other gyms from building in a specific area. For example there is 1 real gym within a 20 mile radius of my house but there are 3 Planet Fitnesses. Any investor or company looking to build a gym in my area will look at the map, see 4 gyms, and think the area is saturated despite the fact that there is actually a very high demand.

Ive been here once. I couldn't do my normal routine so I just decided to do a cardio version of my routine. Its not bad if you are on a budget or its the only gym around but it definitely is missing a lot if you are trying to get beyond beginner stages

I really just wish they had a barbell & rack setup, and maybe some more machines for legs, but I do mostly dumbbells so it works just fine. Also usually some tang that I can eye frick during work outs so I go harder.

    >quiet
what pf are you going to because every one ive ever been in has had hoards of people even during slow hours

  17. 11 months ago

my #1 issue with PF is the crowdedness during peak hours
all the free weight-ish equipment is hogged up to the point where I can only really do cardio, pullups, standing dumbbell exercises, and ab work. Smith machine? Forget about it. No workout routine is complete without squats, bench and a hip hinge. You can use 70lb dumbbells to do stiff legged deadlifts which hit the hamstrings really well, but still doesn't replace a full bar RDL in terms of bang for your buck.

This place is such a jeet magnet lmao. Wouldn't be bad if it had barbells and heavier dumbbells like everyone else says, and were more understanding that it's hard to be quiet when you're dropping 400+ lbs onto safeties.
