Pic related is the blood lipid panel from just a few weeks ago. I'm not afraid of LDL since my HDL and Tris are so good, but I normally cruise around 200 and the spike up to 270 has made me decide to mix more fiber in to bring it back down.

When you guys realize that dietary and blood cholesterol have nothing to do with heart health risks, you'll understand why the emphasis on 'low cholesterol' food fakery has been impressed so heavily on the average consumer. Most food that's 'low cholesterol' as an advertisement point isn't good for you.

Yeah. There's so many distractions from basic, rational health advice (eat things that make you feel good in the days after you eat them, don't eat things that specifically make you feel terrible, balance your intake around your health goals and fitness/output demands, and supplement where you're actually deficient), and that health and fitness are such an absurdly marketed-to/commercialized set of industries, it makes perfect sense that the vast majority of people are just regurgitating what they've been told. More board tourists than ever before, more newbies and more younger guys than ever.

Widespread cholesterol studies are pretty hard to take seriously if they don't control for the activity or lack thereof for the study patients. 20,000,000 person years of followup means literally nothing when you have exceedingly healthy people with relatively high cholesterol who die peacefully in their sleep in the same studies as the clinically obese and those who simply do not raise their heart rates beyond standing up or sitting down.

Squash and little veg down towards bottom is stuff for volume / flavor because I eat a shitload of food, so I need something to fill my gut. But it's not necessary.

          2/2

Raw veg is really not doing you any favors, if you actually want the nutrients to be absorbable. You'll feel more satiated if you eat all those raw items cooked. The eggplant, squash, etc raw is not helping you in any way but giving you a sensation of a full tummy, when they could be giving you a physiological satiation when cooked. The nutrients you want are literally being shitted out when uncooked. Fiber is overrated, and if you're prioritizing it simply because 'health' instead of improving your stool quality, I think you're missing the mark.

I also forgot shrimp. Oops. Pretty important for amino acid ratio and iodine.

Good quality salmon covers that. Though you could do oysters instead of shrimp and have to eat a lot fewer to get the same outcome.

            Anonymous

They will be cooked. The listing is raw for consistency in purchases. Fiber is for stool quality; I become severely irregular without it. I spam psyllium when not on a strict diet. I don't trust my salmon to cover everything, and besides, too much fat increases my calorie level upwards (this is set for 1700/day). Keep in mind, I'm able to eat way too much food outside of a decently structured diet, on the scale of 4-6k calories a day.

              Anonymous

Also remember that cooked weight varies moreso than raw, and in mixed dishes e.g. stir fry, it's hard to account exactly how much is in the recipe without weighing ingredients raw.

Cut 150 -> 120 without losing any micros. If I can do that, I can easily tweak my diet for calories from there. Basically the vertical diet in practice. I couldn't realistically get it below 1700/day based on the foods I eat.

I'm short (5'7), I'm aiming for 10% body fat. Accounting for muscle mass loss due to such changes, 120 seems realistic. If my micros are in order, I should be okay - 1700 is less than a 500 calorie deficit from normal activity, and is slightly over my BMR.
