Working out in the morning is terrible, bro. You gotta go with your cardian rythm and work out around 4-6 pm.

In an ideal world yeah that's the best time. But that's also when the gym's the most crowded. Also most people have shit to do in the night and can't just eat, shower, and sleep afterwards despite being exhausted

I go to the gym at 5am. It lets me start my day with something productive and sets me on track to be awake and energized

I have the most energy in the morning, and I get to go outside early and lift in the perfect weather.
Worst for me is right before bed, or right after a huge meal.

I'm a blue collar wagie. I destroy my body and breathe toxic fumes all day while smarter people are engineers that get to WFH. I go in the morning as it's the only time I can...

I thought I was starting to like working out in the morning, but it was just the start of the manic phase on my bipolar disorder. Frick. Once that ended I was back to night exercise again like normal.

I like to just get it over with. The longer the day goes on, the more I can get in my own head about it, try to rationalize excuses, the more opportunities there are for things to pop up throughout the day that may require that gym time, etc. It’s just easier to get it done with first thing, and this always Carries over into a better mood, more energy and focus, and not over analyzing things through the day. Have a home gym so I wake up, drink some coffee, and usually am doing my warm up about 20 minutes after I wake up.

I have a physical job and want to gym first when I'm fresh instead of after I'm tired so my workouts are more consistent

Nope, it's better. I just drink water and eat afterwards. I don't think it's good to do intense exercise on a full stomach. At best it messes up your blood flow, at worst you can give yourself a painful stitch and ruin your whole workout.

I scribble out one of the most important things in my routine right away, gym is more or less empty, I arrive at work energetic, in a good mood and with a pump. I could go on and on, anon.

  12. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

I really wanted to build a solid routine, so after feeding the dog I make a vacuum flask of tea, maybe glance at news/ messages, but then work out. By thre time I'm done the tea has cooled enough to drink, then u make and cook a nice breakfast. I need it at the start of the day or I'll be fighting adhd/internet blues. Working my body to exhaustion first thing every day gives me a sense of accomplishment, makes other challenges seem smaller, and makes time management easier. Normally I'm the sort of person that is spurred by looming deadlines but as you get older this becomes increasingly stressful. Exercising in the morning is a way of taking control of my mood, my body, the day. I'm not a morning person by any means so I've honestly been surprised to go from 'meh guess I'd better lift some weights' to 90 minute punishment workouts.

  13. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

I work out in the afternoon. It sounds counterproductive but my job is low-stress enough that I can go to the gym on my lunch break, work out for an hour, then come back and recover while I'm working.

  14. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

I don't consider myself a morning person, but honestly lifting is not very mentally intensive. So I wake up at 8AM, lift at my home gym, then shower and go to work. Combines those showers together.

Then in the afternoon I ditch work and go for a run, and shower again in the office.

I've tried different combos but this is the only one I've ever been able to maintain.

    -Fixed my sleep schedule
-In my gym there's a SIGNIFICANTLY less people at 6am than at 6pm
-It wakes me up and puts me in a good mood
-My meal schedule is more comfortable

I might switch it up. My schedule is changing slightly and I'll be able to go in the morning before work.

If I can do it, I'm hoping to boost my tdee and help my cut, and also get more sleep by going to sleep when I would otherwise be going to the gym.

I have more energy in the morning. I lift better when I've only had a snack as opposed to a big meal (that makes me sluggish). Less crowded. Mainly boomers and people who take lifting seriously. Minimal amount of bullshit. Nobody's chatting.

Afternoon workouts are better for me, body is to stiff in the mornings, later in the day my body has loosened up naturally from moving around and has much better range of motion, i feel weaker in the morning, you are more likely to injure yourself in the morning imo

  25. 11 months ago

I work night shift and go to the gym after work. If I went before work it would be too crowded, it’s very rare I ever have to compete for equipment between 4-7am. Downside is the hot women don’t come in until later, but at least I can stare at them during post-workout cardio.

because by night time i'm beaten down and low energy from a day of being a wageslave and don't want to work out anymore. Optimal time for me would be mid day but that's not aan option unless it's a day off so morning it is.

Keeps my day organized and proper. I wake up around 5, then gym from 6 to 7:30 or so. If I want to wake up at 5 the next day then I need to be in bed by 10-11pm.
Morning workouts are nice because I can get it out of the way and enjoy the rest of my day with whatever I want.

    >Gym was never too busy
    >Lots of MILFs and other gym NEETs
    >Time for breakfast
    >post workout lunch
    >energy crash in afternoon
    >light evening cardio walks around the lake or whatever
    >dinner by 6:30
    >bed by 10

I have really good energy from 09-12
    Bad energy from 1300-1600
    Good from 17-19
Problem is if I workout at 19 or later I stay up later
    sleep is worse
    recovery is worse
