Thoughts on captain’s chair knee raises? I prefer to use the crunch machine for abs but if it’s being used by someone else I’ll do CC knee raises. I feel it pretty good during the final reps of each set. Are these good for building ab muscle or am I wasting my time by doing them?

Hanging leg raises gives you a better stretch on the eccentric portion of the exercise, inducing more hypertrophy
hanging is definitely more advanced, it has a greater range of motion and requires more control on the eccentric portion. grip strength is probably the limiting factor for lifters who are not advanced
Any "hanging" leg-raises are good for core/pillar development. I'd say they're the best.

Excellent if you have the ability to do them with your hips infront of you. If they move behind you, no.
Honestly whenever I do weighted crunch shit like this all the difficulty just comes from holding the fricking weight between my feet without dropping it and not the actual lift
You need ankle weights.
first hanging leg raises until your grip fails and then immediately go to captains chair and continue leg raises to failure.
Preferably use the dip bars and not the padded forearm rest.

Ring support no doubt. Ring HLR isn't much harder than HLR from a bar.
ab wheels will do more good op.
