You won’t be particularly fast relative to some other runners, but there are reasons for that which aren’t exactly the fact that you don’t run everyday. In fact, most of it is just technique. If you could be totally efficient training technique, you would be in the top tier of runners with absolutely minimal running.
So running all the time is totally moronic. If you can use your legs to move your body quickly and keep moving quickly, you will be a good runner. Period. It doesn’t matter if you run once per day or once per year.
Furthermore, if you’re looking for cardio, you should be walking, carrying, hiking, even sprinting. Of all the things you could be doing for cardio, running is the worst.

Running as an endurance sport is as legitimate as any other sport and the risk of injury has time and time again been proven to NOT be due to running per se but the person training pushing themselves too hard and not giving adequate rest between exercise. It's not different from someone who lifts heavy weights pulling a muscle because they over trained or over loaded.
