One of the easiest, laziest forms of cardio. All the hiking enthusiasts I know are chubby or fat. It's the perfect fat-man hobby, because they can tell people they hike for recreation, even if they only do it once every 6 months.
Hiking is incredibly taxing (and bad) for your knees so it's the ultimate fatty filter. I see barely any fatties hiking. Unless you consider walking around the park "hiking". On actual trails, not so much
>it's the ultimate fatty filter
You can't bullshit me, bro. In forest, up mountains, I've hiked before. It's not hard. Yes, there were lots of fat people on the trail.
Black person it depends where you live. West coast hiking is pretty difficult since the gradients are pretty steep. A lot of the fat lefty types you see hiking realistically only hike a couple times per year. If you were to regularly hike (2 times per week) your cardio would be well taken care of. That type of schedule of driving 1+ hour out of town to go hiking is not realistic for most people though, so going on runs, stationary bike, or row machine is just a better way of doing cardio with regards to time efficiency
"hiking" is a fake sport that makes normies think they're weak for feeling like shit after just 1 mile, their feet start hurting and they want to lie down and eat.
The truth is, hiking is proof human beings are super weak. Look how quickly they tire; they are slow, and their range is extremely limited.
I prefer hiking to other forms of cardio — can listen to an ebook, enjoy nature, and feel like I’m going on an adventure all at once. Usually only do day hikes, but try to make it intense as possible doing like 1500m+ of elevation in a day sometimes. Views from the tops of mountains are sick and food tastes fricking amazing after hiking all day. Top it off with hot bath — or hot spring in my case since I’m in Japan — afterwards and shit is nice.
I love to do that, too, and I actually still do it all the time, but when I was younger (I'm 35 now) I had friends I could do it with. Now I don't have anyboday anymore.
What trail is this? I'm probably going to Utah in October so I'm looking for ideas.
If you are in northern utah and in good shape I would suggest trying mount olympus, Blanche lake, grandeur peak, or really any highly rated “hard” hike on AllTrails
>follow the rules! >oh you are? well you’re still bad!
You’re a homosexual for going to the one off-leash area in the forest and acting like a b***h that dogs are off leash. Enjoy your IST cred from all the screeching autists.
I'm trying to prepare for a big hike, so today I walked around town for 20 km with a 14 kg backpack. I'm so skinny that the hip belt is making be sore over the hip bones, I hope I can find some good way of adding a bit of padding. gonna try to see how well a sitting pad can help.
Yeah I'm not in the states or Canada but this is what I thought. The person with the camera should've started yelling at it and throwing rocks and it would've run away. It's when they get startled in close proximity they attack. As far as I'm aware. Cool webm though I was like omg it's going to try sex her.
Being in a situation where the best course of action is to curl into a ball, protect your neck and pray to god the grizzly mother being overdefensive of her cubs will get bored with you before she does too much damage is still one of my horror scenarios. I think I'd just run like a moron despite everything.
At a distance yes, to avoid them getting near you, if it is too close play dead if grizzly, don't move with lesser bears else it will trigger fight or flight
absolutely based logical opinion. Hikecels are honestly the worst. Hiking only exists so losers and normies on Tinder can list something in their bio--- that they actually only do once a year--- so they seem like they have a personality
> Hobby: A pursuit outside one's regular occupation engaged in especially for relaxation.
Hiking meets that definition. Plus it's exercise so it fits in on this board. What exactly is your point?
It's a hobby, it's just not a very good one. The sad thing is it really does impress normals who are physically sedentary. The dudes in this thread mentioning a mere 7-mile hike like it's somehow significant is absurd, but they've been conditioned by their normie friends and co-workers to do this kinda shit.
>do something boring and pointless
Not that anon, but why the frick would I? I’m a back country skiing enjoyer, and I would never walk up a mountain just so I could walk down (???) lol. Walking is not a hobby.

Yet you walk on snowy ground dressed in a full on obligatory gear-queer display just to manage your 'hobby' off sliding down on planks.
Love a hike. Especially here in the UK.
Find an expanse of greenery, hills, rivers etc
Pack a lunch. Spend 6 hours in the serene countryside, enjoying the fine views, fresh air in the lungs.
Finish the day with a hot hearty meal in the pub and a well earned pint.
Can't beat it
Huge waste of time if you are trying to get fit, do an actual cardio workout if you want to improve cardio.
If you are trying to slow life down, very good way to just relax and destress.
Hpw people approach hiking makes all the differece. The intensity is just as dependent on what you are carrying, how fast you decide to go, the terrain, the elements, and the elevation. Any here thinking a hike is just a countryside stroll are ignorant - simple as.
>simple as
What a israeli thing to say.
But you spoke like a true dyel. Ain't nobody getting anything out of hiking other than wasting energy with little to 0 gains in anything. You might as well tell people to curl 2lbs for 300 reps per day
It's ok, but subpar for reasons if only sole source of cardio exercise. It depends where. I think mountain trails (or ones with lots of elevation) are better but also depends on your pace whether you push yourself or not. I personally only prefer mountain trails for hiking which doubles as a form of getting away from the noise of city life. But the issue is that because I live in a city it takes a while just to get to them, so its not really something I do regularly. I also live in bongland so I don't have to worry about bears.
The other issue is time. Takes me like 3 hrs just to get to a decent mountain. If your goal is improving cardiovascular fitness then I will say hiking is also supbar. I guess if you leave near a mountain with good elevation and do it regularly it could be alright.
I do it on occasion, but I wouldn't class hiking as my main form of exercise.
I used to live in a mountainous area, and now I live on an island. The "hikes" here suck. Can anyone recommend the best hikes out West? Are Zion National Park and Yellowstone too easy?
I don't. I seethe. I live in Connecticut. All we have near me is 500 ft shithills I have to do laps on to get a decent workout. Enjoy your hiking Europoor.

Hiking as a stand-alone hobby and exercise isn’t sufficient but it’s a good way to be social. Doing difficult hikes with others is great for your social gains. People drop their egos when things start to get tough.
All the morons in this thread saying hiking isn't cardio. >Climb big hill or mountain >Not sweating and gassed then run >Take the steepest route up >Run back down taking the longest most gentle route down >Enjoy the view and a can at the top >Profit

Maybe if you're a pavement princess or live in the east/ bongland
I've hiked both rocky forest and mountain terrains. It's not hard.
I live in bongland and I see no fatties hiking anywhere, it's the one thing we can do without being reminded that fatties and blacks exist
weird, you must've seen me at some point. to be fair i've lost a lot of weight but I was a mammoth walking up hills and shit.
Haha I used to run walker ranch 3x a week. Small world

Incline walking is actually very good for fat loss

You sure must know a lot of fat people.
If fat lesbians with problem hair can do it while explaining the patriarchy to xer friends then it's not even cardio

You can get up a mountain without hiking it, you know. There's probably a road-connected tourist location on the other side of that camera.
100% guarantee she drove up there or took a cable car

Most of the in shape dudes have real IST hobbies, like climbing or camping. Hiking is literally just walking in a big circle.
Black person it depends where you live. West coast hiking is pretty difficult since the gradients are pretty steep. That guy looks like rape bait
why?
If you have to ask that means you’re the one that’s gonna be grabbing his ankles.

I'd love to pull his shorts down and give him the rimming of a lifetime right there tbh
You forgot to say "no homo"
I think this is better than the rowing machine thread.

Make the drive to Bryce Canyon if weather permits. It’s worth it. Zion looks nice but is practically the Disneyland of hiking at this point.

Grandeur Peak? Was thinking of doing this one soon.
Yep
Don’t be a nog. Follow the rules
>don’t be a nog

I keep my dog on a leash because people are horrible and let their dogs run up and then they are buttholes.

I thought you were meant to make yourself big and loud with bears and that not moving is for if you come across a t-rex?
those black bears are very timid and not really aggressive, I had one walk right over me while I was star gazing one night

Summit hiking is kino. Spending time in nature is good for your mental health too.
agreed, if you don't hike >10,000 ft go back to your 15% incline walking simulator at the gym
There's like 5 >10000 foot prominent peaks in the us kek.

based and twinkpilled. Climbed the top 10 highest peaks in my state and went from fatass to twink in a year.
Colorado chads, where you at?
I feel like I’m the only black person who hikes lol
I dislike seeing black people on my Colorado trails.
Deal with it homosexual. Where is this by the way?
I'm just joking Anon as long as you don't play music on your phone it's fine. I think this is Silver Dollar Lake outside of Georgetown
That looks beautiful. I’ve actually never been on any Georgetown trails. I usually just go to RMNP or south of the Springs
Is this the sky pond trail in the national park?
deal with it by pushing black people off of cliffs
been hiking near bear lake a lot lately, about to take on longspeak.
