Let me guess anon, you go to high school with these boys, and the girl you’re into is always flirting with them while she completely disregards your existence?
ran xc 6th-12th grade, got recruited to do d2 xc in college but ended up picking a different school and just not running
its such a miserable existence lol. respect to anyone still in the XC life but man I cannot say I miss it.
Doing nothing but running for your training gets boring after awhile. Imagine just running along the same jogging paths every day for 6 months out of the year (season + conditioning camp.)
Most coaches will emphasize adding more miles to your workouts over time, so it becomes a matter of everyone competing to perform the same activity for even longer durations.
I was middle of the pack and only did it because my friends were involved, but I saw a lot of people get shin splints and plantar fasciitis from running so much. At least with lifting you can vary the type and intensity of movements you do, imagine if lifting weights was just doing deadlifts at a specific weight, you tracked your progress by number of reps, and workouts were just trying to do as many reps as possible.

In college we had at least 20 different running paths we regularly took. The scenery and change of pace (literally) kept it from being as boring as HS
Just so much time gets sunk into it. Eventually the speed gains plateau a lot for everyone and at that point it's just putting more and more miles in. Plus the self doubt really set in for me, I'd do a run then be disappointed with the pace or distance or intensity, so I'd 'super set" with some strides then be bummed about the pacing of the strides because I just ran 9.6miles and was gassed. Anytime I wasn't absolutely slaughtered after a run I started to be depressed.
Also weather... There is literally nothing worse than weather. I fricking hate wind.
What was your peak weekly mileage/5k time?
16:15 was my best ever time, though it was on a pretty high elevation course which is weird.
Usually around 60 miles a week but we'd do more when we were in a distance cycle and less when we were focusing on speed. I was usually towards the bottom of the 7 man varsity team
Definition of a "functional" build. xc runners are slimmed down to minimal bodyfat and maximum endurance, and it shows on the more elite runners. It's not "swole" because it's not meant to be.
Only attractive to young girls, which I guess works fine for pic related. Will require more muscle in the future though
they are grown adults
Did JV xc as a hobby been permabulking for 20 years since
Frick being a twink but having godlike cardio compared to most people was nice
They look good because of their young age, that physique won't look good in their late 20s / early 30s.
they look healthy
Is this heathy?

the question was “thoughts on the xc runner physique?”
They're bigger now you pedo
only the white boy got walled. the poc, as always, stayed youthful
Why are zoomers aging badly?
> why yes, I did just escape auschwitz, how can you tell?
Probably more natural than the average stocky, muscular build. It's obvious to me that humans are more of an endurance species.

Way too skelly
Shoulders should be much larger than their hips
Very frickable
If I were 10/10 face and height, I would take only slightly bigger than this physique, but I have to make compromises to be attractive to women.
