To sunbathe or not to sunbathe

Does the benefit of sunbathing such as vitamin D/less pale skin outweigh the risk (cancer)?

      >vitamin D
if it's just for vitamin D
your body literally stops generating much of it after like 1/2h in the sun because you have enough

of course this depends on your naked skin and where you live
just wearing swim trunks or a bikini take way less time in the sun than just a tshirt and long trousers
also nearer to the equator mean less time needed

Skin cancer is because of seed oils and sunscreen

Vitamin D is great. The sun is great. Everyone subconsciously knows this because tan people look great.

The only caveat is that you should only sunbathe in ancestral appropriate regions

If you're white, stick to the green regions
If you're brown, stick to the orange and yellow regions
If you're black, stick to the red regions

That's what your skin developed for so it's silly to go to one of the other places.

Source? The only thing I've ever heard of is the need for 5-30 minutes in the sun each day to get your vitamin D needs. Also, your body can store up to 2 months worth of D in adipose tissue

      Based.

Also if it's not persistently sunny it's just not going to be possible to get enough sun in winter months unless you start living outside, exposed, in winter, which would suck ass.

it's fine if you dress appropriately. we have a habit in the north to wear short sleeves and shit, but if you live in a hot area it's usually better to just wear thin but fully covering clothes as well as a straw woven hat that'll shield you from the sun but allow a bit of air to keep your head cool.
I'm bald so I invested in a panama hat a while ago, I used to get a sunburned nose pretty often growing up but that hasn't been an issue ever since, it also shields your neck and ears which has been nice. I've also never really liked shorts unless I'm at the beach or something, so I bought a bunch of very thin long sleeves linen pants. they allow plenty of air through which has been great.
        hat, not the guy, related.

I was born in the lightness, molded by it lmao, I've been on the hat and sleeves game since my parents let me dress myself; and cleaning up my diet (not eating my parents' cooking) has really helped, I'm much more burn resistant now. My climate is basically like southern France now, a damn sight better than the subtropical crucible I was born into. I'm going to a water park tomorrow and making my swarthoid gf wait til 3 so I don't get fried, it's gonna be great.

Yeah not only do short pants and short sleeve shirts make you look like a kid, they also are not conducive for sunny hot weather. The people who have lived in sunny hot weather for thousands of years wear light in colour, light in weight, long, and breathable clothing.

I don't know why you think an argument against sunbathing means you would be dead if you did so anyways though. If anything I would think it just increases the risks of getting cancer which isn't exactly an immediate killer.

Where I live, at this time of year, it takes about 5 minutes of sunlight to process all the vitamin D I need in a day (for whites and asians). I get that much incidentally even if I don’t leave my house.

Anyways, remember that tanning is literally a sign of DNA damage. Your melanocytes only produce more melanin in the presence of thymidine dinucleotide (pTpT) fragments from damaged DNA. There’s a reason why dermatologist’s religiously apply sunscreen.

Your vit D storage is filled up after just 10 minutes of sunbathing, then it has to be slowly absorbed by fat. That being said unless you get sunburned your cancer risk is tiny, and most forms of skin cancer are completely harmless anyway. Just get your tan slowly by sunbathing in April, May and you'll be totally fine. Just yesterday I read an article about some c**t that used sunscreen permanently all year round and she was shocked when she was diagnosed with the bad kind of skin cancer at 35, of course no connection to the fricking sunscreen was made.

Also sun screens just plainly contain ingredients that cause cancer. If you pay attention to this shit you will run into these kind of headlines every couple of years.

Because sunscreen gives a fake sense of security, before it was "just dont go in the sun" now its "just apply sunscreen and you can defeat the sun" so people end up spending way more time in the sun than whats even healthy, and there is a limit to what sunscreen can do

This doesn't even sound right. My grandparents were farmers and never used the fricking stuff or gave a shit about "don't go in the sun." They never said peep about any of that shit. I think you’re probably confusing cases diagnosed with actual prevalence. My grandmother is 96 and always talks about how there was no dementia growing up but in the same breath will mention how XYZ were “doting near the end”. Same with everything, although no doubt there are some diseases that are more prevalent now but I think most of that can be blamed on obesity and sedentary lifestyles
