What the pec major does (one of it's movements or articulations or whatever) is transverse flexion, moving the upper arm/humerus towards your body's midline, the sternum.
Guess what the bench press movement is?
Bench press is a pushing movement. People shouldn't say "pushing" exercise. Bench press is just the exercise name that works your trunk and arms.
