Let's be real here. For those of us who are interested in FUNCTIONALITY training 100% like a bodybuilder is moronic. Here are all the functions you need as a guy in order of most to least priority:
1. Be able to get the frick out of bad situation
2. Be able to fight off a c**t if you can't or don't want to run
3. Be strong in general for when shit hits the fan or everyday situations
4. Look good
For 1 you need cardio, leg strength and not being overweight
For 2 you need strength and fighting skill
For 3 you need strength
4 is gonna be achieved automatically by going for the first 3.
What does that leave us with?
A routine that's most like powerlifting hypertrophy (that then leads to strength phase, then recovery period and then hypertrophy again) - except we don't just care about bench, squat and dead but also pull-ups, some ohp and some horizontal pulling, and maybe dips.
Lifting ~4 days a week in 5-12 rep range.
Doing bjj/MMA couple of days a week; running couple of days a week.
Cutting when over 20% bf.
If your routine is vastly different - you're not training for real world functionality, just jerking off mentally.

Last time I saw BJJ used in a real life scenario some dude just shot him.
Literally impossible at that range.
Through Christ all things are possible

not even gonna read lemme guess: some third guy shot him? yeah that can happen with every fighting style
a guy who is strong, fast and owns a gun is functional enough to deal with all of this.
knife as well,if it's closequarters whoever you're planning to shoot will try to wrestle the gun away from you, with a knife it's a bit different.
sure, 'cept... you can carry a gun in like 5% of the world so...
well knife, pepper spray,a piece of iron, even a nail just whatever is necessary to quickly and easily kill/temporarily or permanently disable someone very quickly.
"functional" fitness is a meme because all fitness is functional. It's also why practicing punches with weights is stupid. Boxers rely on three things (for the sake of simplicity)
>strength (weight training)
>conditioning (cardio)
>speed/technique (practice)
By practicing your punches with weights you're not only suboptimally training for strength, you're actually training to punch slower when compared to just weightless technique practice.
Fictional fitness to a boxer is just plain old squats, deadlifts, bench, curls etc. It's training your muscles, and then learning the technique to recruit those muscles.
Pic related, they're not practicing weighted Sparta kicks.
bench is not functional, its a exercise specifically only made for bodybuilders to get big gay man breasts.
>"functional" fitness is a meme because all fitness is functional.
What's the function of big man breasts?
The chest is a pretty important muscle for pushing movements, such as punching.
I can guarantee you that you have no idea about fighting if you think you punch with the chest.
Chest is almost irrelevant in terms of punching.
chest is fricking worthless for punching power
Bench press exercises most of the muscles that are used to perform a pushing motion forward from your chest, which is the motion that a punch uses. Chest, triceps, shoulders, and serratus are all used to punch, and arguably the only one not hit by bench very well is serratus, and even that can be changed.
The bench was invented by a wrestler, George Hackenschmit.
What lifts increase punching power?

And this is relevant, how?

Why cut at all? There's no function in it you're just as obsessed with your looks as the average female or zoomergay
>does generic af routine + martial arts but he's gotta write some larpy post on anonymous fitness forum to rationalize how it makes him better than everyone else's
Do you live around Black folk? Why are you so worried about getting into fights? If you look fit and strong most people won't test you anyway.
