Baldness honestly terrifies me. I think anyone who says they aren't afraid of being bald hasn't really given the idea much thought.
They say people die twice. Once when they die, and once more when their name is spoken for the very last time. I'd argue the first death a man can go through is when he goes bald.
Your hair is a physical expression of your personality, your youth and your vigor. The idea of looking at one of the very few and exclusive parts of you that is exposed and shown to the world on a daily basis rot away slowly leaving you a shadow of your former self causes my blood pressure to rise in fear. In the eyes of women, bald men are all but invisible. If pressed, they will tell comforting lies about how being bald is not an issue, but they will laugh at bald men behind their back.
    >I don't mind your bald head
    >It makes you look more manly
    >I think it's distinguishing
    >My ex boyfriend was bald!
Bald people are disgusted by women. To be perfectly honest, bald people illicit disgust in me too. I can't even look them in the eye because I'm hyperfocused on their receding hairline, their transparent scalp hair, the way their greasy forehead is coated in a layer of stinky grease.

I think all bald men know this deep down. They have been relegated to background characters in the game of life. They look on people with hair with envious eyes and find places in threads like this, like crabs in a bucket pulling people with the time and resources to save their hair back down to their level. They are driven on a primal genetic level to not let other men succeed where they have failed. Everyone must be as ugly and rotten as they appear.

It truly frightens me IST. Where some see men without hair, I see dead men walking, left on this earth to suffer.

You need to chill lol. Women's sexuality works on daddy issues, so some of them find baldness really hot. Some of them find it disgusting. Never listen to anyone who lumps all women together into some monstrosity. They're individuals, you know?
But yeah at first going bald destroyed me, but only because I had long hair most of my life. I don't see why it would affect someone who kept their hair short anyway.

You have to take finasteride to maintain it. That was the clincher for me to just start fin before my hair reached a level like that.
        >wear a wig
Awful. I'd hate being a fake like that, even with these advanced hair systems they have these days. There's actually a guy that works in my local pharmacy and he wears an obvious wig. I'm not a dick but I'm so tempted to casually ask him how much it cost him just to see his reaction lmao. Too bad I'm not a dick 'cause that would be funny af. Who knows he might try to shoot me though.

This is what literally everyone who says just get a hair transplant says. Eventually they all break.
I genuinely think the people who rail against fin are low key evil. Millions of men are on fin and don't say anything about it. They find the most vulnerable people on the internet and bully people out of saving their hair with epithets about trannies and being a real man.
Saying being bald is fine and you should go bald too is no different to fat people saying being fat is okay. Granted you won't die of being bald, but you're as

Anyone who disagrees with this is in denial or coping hard. I've seen it first hand, I had a close female friend in university and was sometimes with her in her female friend group, what a red pill it was to hear girls openly talking how they would normally talk to each other by themselves. One of the most shocking things to me was all of them laughing at her bald ex boyfriend, making fun of his baldness in the most demeaning way and calling him ugly even though his face wasn't even ugly at all. From that point on I knew I was never going to let myself go bald.

lel buddy I've had lots of female friends and the #1 thing I've learned is that what they say, and what they do, have zero correlation. Frrom my experience, when women shit on guys, it's because they are insecure about that very thing and are projecting. If they are doing it in a group, they are saying it to try to fit in. You would not fricking BELIEVE the shit women would tell me, and then go and do that very thing they were just b***hing about. Including men. Had a girl go on and on to me about this one guy in her class who's a weirdo and creepy and is always making faces at her and she hates it. Few months later, oh look, she fricked him.

Seriously, stop listening to what women say. It's COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT. Only care about what they do.

Like the other poster said, what women say and what they really do and think are different things. In your case you have to view it as emotional support in a group setting for the girl coping with the loss of her relationship. Also there's group pressure, just like guys who might be shy to admit their preference for say, slampigs in front of the guys.
So just chill out and don't be such a fatalist homosexual.

Had no idea hair loss was so common. Shaved my head during covid for the hell of it and was absolutely horrified to see how it grew out. The length/thickness has been covering up seriously receding temples and a bald spot. I’d been getting expensive haircuts so they must have styled it in a way that it would be hard to notice. I had no idea. Did dermapenning and minoxidil and results have been good. Really pleased, actually. If it stops working I’ll go on fun

There were a couple points where they'd mention some dude, like a friend's dad or electrician at the business or whoever, and say he was a dilf. Almost all the guys they mentioned were completely bald or had the horseshoe thing going on.
On the other hand, I've seen really sad looking balding guys in bars desperately trying to stitch their remaining hairs into a pathetic combover.

baldness is a way to eject your dumb ass from the genepool if you weren't smart enough to marry and procreate when you were supposed to.

absolutely ruined levels of baldness won't typically happen until you're around mid 30s.

early to late 20s, when it would be reasonable for you to marry and breed, baldlets will typically have enough hair that people will not 100% consider them baldlets yet.

Your hair follicle is dying due to DHT sensitivity. Fin reduces the amount of DHT on the scalp in turn stopping this process.

Min from what I understand speeds up and lengthens the growth cycle of hairs on the scalp. It doesn't address the root issue and eventually the hair loss will continue.

I think derma rolling encourages the growth of new hair too. It supposedly improves the effects of minoxidil immensely.

Check out HairCafe or Hair Loss Show on YouTube. Both channels provide a lot of info and will give better explanation than me. Kevin is a bit abrasive but I think he's just trying to get people to act before it's too late.

                Hope this helps

        Anonymous

When fin came out and showed decent results it was a very big deal. People latched on to the idea that hair loss was caused by DHT and unless you were blocking DHT you were fricked. Min doesn't block DHT and it was deemed inferior. People started saying that min was just a growth stimulant and didn't really protect your hair or grow back any new hair.

Of course that's bullshit and flies in the face of everything we had learned about min. Don't underestimate the power of a small group of uniformed morons screeching at a bunch of cowardly, gullible betas. See IST for example.

i've always had a high hairline and a big fricking head, plus a widows peak. it's concerning because i don't know if i'd be able to recognize when i started losing hair. does it just come out in clumps in the shower like in a fricking horror movie, or do you just wake up one day and you suddenly realize that you've slowly become a bald man?

Look at your hands after you shampoo. You will see some hairs. If/when you are balding, there will be more of them. A diffuse thinner with recession might just see twice as many as normal. Heavy shedders will see a lot of hair, totally covering their hands. They can also brush or shake their over the sink and see profuse hair fall. This level of shedding is also often accompanied by a distinct itch.

Man…I had this happen last year. I had thiccc and curly hair and all the sudden I could fill my sink with hair that I could rub off and my scalp was soo itchy…after a few months I could see the crown of my head in light. I was so depressed bros…after so much deliberation with myself I got on finastride and that seems to help. I’m maintaining what I have and see some thickness in the crown again.

i don't know if it's relevant at all, but in like my second year of college, i started noticing frickloads of hair coming out. like i'd wake up and there would be more than just a couple hairs on my pillow, and i'd pull out fingerfuls in the shower.
i started taking a multivitamin and it totally fixed it. i think it was just that my diet was really trash at that point in time. may not be relevant to actual balding, but i still take a multivitamin because it's super cheap, and i figure it covers me from any frickups in my diet.

Vitamins probably wouldn’t have solved my issue…my dad went bald in his early 30s and I looked at old photos of him and I see a similar pattern of hair loss…then I went to a derma to get lab tests and they said my body was producing to much DHT, I probably get that from my dad as well….he has prostate issues which is commonly caused by to much dht. I have gotten any of the fin sides

          >Where did you learn of this?
          >@ me with reading material if you have any
Sorry, but I don't have any extra tips on the itch. I just wanted to aware people about it. I learned about it from reading hair loss and bodybuilding forums for a while, even before I had issues.

I'm a diffuse thinner myself and my hair loss started after upping my dose on TRT. I'm off TRT now and microneedling once per week (don't tolerate min or 5ar inhibitors). My hair loss has stopped and there is small, slow regrowth.

            Anonymous

Why would you take TRT if you know you're prone to hair loss?

Not him, but I'd imagine many people require TRT for things beyond lifting weights.

              Anonymous

              >Why would you take TRT if you know you're prone to hair loss?
I didn't have MPB until I was on TRT. The shedding also didn't start until I increased the dose >200mg/week. At my initial lower dose of 100mg/week my hair actually grew a little faster, maybe from higher estrogen and/or IGF1. However, I didn't really feel much better energy and depression wise unless I was at 150mg+/week, where I would shed.

Basically, I found out the hard way my hair loss is mostly threshold dependent. I have read similar anecdotes on TRT and steroid forums. Bros, even in their 30s, are NW1 until they start pinning and then their hairline starts melting.

If there's a ton of itching it's usually a fungal issue. It started happening to me during winters when it would get too dry, I got hella itchy and shredded ton of hair in the shower. Stopping fungal growth with nizarol was the only thing that worked for me, no itchyness or shedding anymore.

This is some post-modern culture of narccisism type bullshit, where vanity is commonplace even for males and when everyone is tainted by neolibtardism to such a degree that they feel that everything in life is a competitive marketplace and they need to maximize their points or some shit.

Bald men were forbidden from entering the roman bathhouses as it was believed balding was contagious. That means no gay bathhouse sex, so balding was the same as being dead in Rome.

it's not negative because you would have already reproduced before you went bald. so even if being bald negatively impacts your ability to reproduce, it happens after you've spread your genes.
it's probably a consequence of increasing amounts of DHT, and generating more secondary sex characteristics, which would improve reproductive fitness.

There are a couple of moronic theories I've heard. One is it might be to help with vitamin D absorption from the sun. Seriously doubt full headed dudes died before being able to reproduce because of lack of vit D and being bald fixed that. Although IST memes that Europeans have higher rates of baldness so eh.

Another theory is bald men are less likely to abandon their partner/kids for some sexy young harlots since they're no longer as attractive to them, so they stay with their families and their kids survive. This actually does make sense to a degree but it's still stupid.

Bottom line, for whatever reason a strange mutation happened where some males' hair follicles became sensitive to DHT and they end up balding. Sure it sucks but most still manage to cum inside women and pass on their genes so it just wasn't something that nature selected against en-masse which is why you get so many bald motherfrickers. Over 50% of men have significant hair loss by the age of 60.

Uhm... about how many hairs is normal to lose per shower (which i do once a day)?

      Anonymous

Counting hairs is a fools errand and everyone is a little different. What you should be looking for is unusually thin or short hairs falling out.

        Anonymous

        >unusually thin or short hairs falling out
That... actually makes a lot of sense. I havent been paying a lot of attention to the length but I think they've mostly been on the longer side. My hair however is naturally thin, would I still be able to differentiate?
Some days I barely have any on my hand and some days theres a small collection of it on the drain.
Im just super stressed about it because Im growing my hair out and will be incredibly depressed if I cant do that. I know longer hair is a lot easier to spot when falling out than shorter hair but the thought of balding ever sits in the back of my brain.

          Anonymous

I don't know you're exact situation but the long and short of it is that hair doesn't just fall out and never grow back. It grows back thinner and shorter each time until it can't even break out of the skin leaving you bald. Everyone has a few miniaturized hairs on their head, even women. You should worry when the hairs start looking more like spider webs than hair.

no min. fin works especially well for diffuse thinners if the hair loss is caught early.

          Anonymous

          >caught early
by this I mean the thinning is not yet so bad. My hair loss has been very slow. I probably started thinning ten years ago but it only recently got slightly noticeable (how it is in the pic). I'm 36 btw. Fin is generally just to maintain but it can cause miniaturised hairs to grow back thicker, which is why it's great for diffuse thinners. There are better results than mine. I've seen pics of far thinner skulls with significant regrowth, apparently only from fin. Obviously if you're a slaphead fin alone won't do shit for you. I've also seen results on r/tressless where NW7 slapheads get full heads of hair back from fin + min + dermarolling but I've no idea how commonly that happens.

        Anonymous

Hair to a degree needs constant DHT exposure to maintain its miniaturized state. Assuming you catch it early enough it will just grow back like normal.

The balding man prayed to God. "Please god, save my hairline, I am so young. I have so much more of my life to enjoy."
The next day, the balding man saw an add for a derma roller in on the his news feed.
"Heh, no way people actually use that. I'll just rub some coconuts juice on my temples."
Later that night, the balding man kneeled down against his bed and clasped his hands on prayer. "Oh lord, can you hear me? I pray to you daily but my hear keeps thinning. I trust in your power lord."
The next day the balding man went to Costco to buy his 50 pack bag of string cheese from the dairy aisle. On the way to the counter he saw a poster to buy Kirkland Brand Minoxidil from the in store pharmacy for a reasonable price. "Eww, I heard that Minoxidil makes your scalp greasy and causes even more shedding. I'll just eat more b vitamins and hair meditations to save my hair."
That night the balding man did his usual prayers. "Dear god in heaven, I know you work in mysterious ways, but no voodoo rituals or coconut smoothies or red lasers are helping my failing follicles. I pray you will do something soon before it's too late."
The next day the balding man went on IST he wanted to learn more about building his pecs and getting that Jason Statham look. He saw a thread regarding baldness and clicked on it in curiousity "What?! FINASTERIDE? a literal troony used that once to restore their hair therefore everyone who uses it is a troony. "My child, I sent you the derma roller and you dismissed it"
      The bald man protested.
      "How could it possibly work?"
God ran his fingers through his thick locks of hair. " It seems to work for me. I also sent you the Kirkland Brand Minoxidil at a reasonable price."
      The bald man rebutted.
"Minoxidil dries out your skin and ages you."
"No my child, aging ages you, Minoxidil is proven to increase blood flow to the scalp and increase hair density." God indicated to his locks.
"Finally, I sent you Finasteride and you rebuked it entirely."
The bald man was now red as a tomato. He looked like one too because bald people when they're angry look like tomatos.

"My child, Finasteride will not turn you into a troony, the copious amounts of estrogen they are consuming will. Finasteride is strictly for hair and prostate health in older men."

This gene can come from literally anybody in your family, you can get it from your father, mother, any of your grandparents, great grandparents, whatever. The idea that it comes from your mother is a misunderstanding of the fact that women can have DHT sensitivity, and pass it on, while not presenting with male pattern baldness themselves because they do not have sufficient androgens in their body.

No. Minox and microneedling (pens are much better than rollers btw) are both growth promoters. They work through different pathways and you can use both. Microneedling has generally displaced keto shampoo as the third part of "the big three" hair loss prevention tools (the other two being fin/dut and minox).

Also, shallow microneedling (0.5mm) and retinoids have both been shown to enhance minox penetration and effectiveness.

I have a lot of hair on my hands in the shower from time to time, it's been like this for years. I also can find hair in my brush, my hands after running through my hair. I can find them here and there in my appartment. But my hairline hasn't changed. Got nervous several times after reading comments like this though.

It's a sustained increase in the amount of shedding that matters more than the absolute quantity.

The hair all over my head is not as thick as it used to be and the amount of recession is very minor for how long I went without fin (about 3 years when I first suspected hair loss).

Before I started fin, I was seeing 100-200 hairs in the shower. after being on fin for a while, that dropped to about 20-50. That hasn't changed much but my hair seems to be looking worse (not as thick) each time I get a hair cut. Also worth noting that in the first 1-2 years of using fin my hair would get dry like straw and itchy, but this doesn't happen anymore.

Is it worth switching to dutasteride or will that just stop working too? I don't want to use minoxidil.

Did you notice any mental issues? Finasteride completely halts the production of neurosteroids too that's why.

so really this thread is essentially about preventing hair loss, is that correct? If the hair is already lost safe to assume it's over?

      >If the hair is already lost safe to assume it's over?
No, some men are able to reverse miniaturization and regain their hair.

Depends. If it's completely bald as in there no tiny hairs to be found it's gone, but sometimes people are just in time.

I was gonna say guys like this could at least adopt a better skincare routine, but even FaceApp struggled with this one.

Big pharma reposting this swine every few days to shill their pills and creams that will destroy you. Feel bad for the losers that actually take fin.

My tinnitus became really bad after 18 months on finasteride. I got mood problems too. Yesterday I looked it up and finasteride also completely blocks some vital neurosteroids involved in mental processes and hearing. Not sure how to proceed.

Rule #1 of the hair loss thread: the answer to your stupid question is yes, you are 100% balding

Get on fin+min regardless of what you see. You’ll see something one day and it’ll be already too late

What about the side effects of finasteride?

Just want to say it again. By far the most useful thing I learned from this place was dermapen+minoxidil. I was headed toward a Norwood 3 with a bald spot and I’m essentially a Norwood 1 on one side even short now and a Norwood 2 on the other that’s covered up when my hair is longer. Bald spot was hardest to fix but even that had slow but steady progress and is covered up when my hair is 2 inches or longer. About as close to a miracle cure as I could have hoped for

They say not to do this and maybe it’s a bad idea but my skin is thick so I used 2.5. Forgot to mention I was able to shave my head because of covid which I think helped significantly

You what would really mess with someone's GABA channels? Being a bald loser who is despised by women and mocked by his peers for being bald.

I’m a woman and I left the last man who tried to be my bf. He was bald by choice and had attractive features until his hair started to grow and I realized his true hairline. I couldn’t imagine my children having these shit genes inside so I just leave him.
    If you’re a man and you’re balding, I hate you. You’re a disgrace and you shouldn’t reproduce.

Has anyone been on fin long-term? I'm at 6 years now. I started at age 30 when I had some receding of the hairline without loss on the crown. I've had some minor side effects, but after my initial shed and regrowth my hair loss has been completely paused. I was worried about having kids, but easily conceived 2 healthy boys. Overall, I'm very glad I started it.

Nah. I planned on stopping if we had trouble, but my wife got pregnant after 2-3 months. With our 2nd son she pulled the IUD and we got it first try thankfully.
        >btw i've heard some people take two weeks or a month off from fin every 6 months, do u do that? why do some ppl do this?
I'm not sure about that. Maybe because of side-effects?

      WHAT SIDE EFFECTS

There are a lot of reported side effects with Finasteride, the only issue is there is a huge overlap of these symptoms and anxiety in general and they only seem to manifest in people who have heard of the side effects in the first place.

I think the only real side effect that is verifiable is watery ejaculations, which makes sense because it was originally a drug designed to medicate enlarged prostates.
