So I wondered this as well, and the other anon who answered the question has great reasoning. As an addendum, I would say I think Nadine brings an element of innocence to Twin Peaks. Despite her age, she knows everything about the town she inhabits. However, her innocent nature is completely alien to modern Twin Peaks, and shared by nobody else, even those she grew up with.
This is represented by her freak strength, because in this context, Lynch views that innocent naivety *as* a strength.

People've been telling me to do this exercise for years for my back. I was always scared to do so, thinking it would only make it worse. I've been doing them now for a month and my backpain has completely gone away.

The big problem with this is once your disc decompresses, you'll be smashing it with uneven pressure when you bend to pull yourself back up. An inversion table or a traction device that doesn't involve you twisting or bending would be a better option. The theory is solid though.
