Idk, but Ripp has a history of roiding, and it wouldn't surprise me if the bald, obese, mustache powershitter underlings in that vid are also roiding.
never abandon the iron law of physiognomy. ugly dysgenic looking dudes = opinion discarded
Only problem I had with running was getting enough salt in. started eating salty goyslop and problem resolved kek
Marathon runners aren't healthy, they're average. Cyclists are pretty healthy but marathon runners absolutely not. Marathon runners even have heart scarring and running is the most injurous sport you can participate in. Like it's not even close, it's more injurious than weightlifting by over 5 times. You can fact check all of this, I'm not doing it for you because you homosexuals just ignore it anyway.
Running injuries are usually overuse injuries that make you have to rest for a few weeks. Lifting injuries involve snapping something so it's still fricked up a decade later.
Distance runners generally have terrible flexibility, they're consistently the most difficult group to teach to squat I've encountered.
I've met heaps of chubby and skinny fat cyclists, loads of amateurs carb load and hit the gels like they're pros kek. Also generally terrible thoracic mobility, teaching them OHP is difficult.

Topkek, I came here just now to post pic related, and you beat me to it.
I can't believe obese powershitters think they're healthier than runners, or frankly, healthier than anyone less obese than them.
The levels of delusions that they're rising to is unbelievable.
I don't even run that much, btw, just a 1-3 miles 5 days a week, so I'm not a buttmad rooner or something.
and think these powershitters are delusional, you're not wrong about marathon runners.
Multiple studies have shown there's a U-shaped curve of Coronary Artery Calcium scores with running frequency/intensity, with the people who run the most having CAC scores on the level of completely sedentary individuals:
Fat frick
I'm 235 lbs and still can run half an hour a day, a bit less than 4 miles.
Incredibly soothing and energizing for the rest of the day. If your goal is not breaking speed records, but maintaining heart muscle health, then running is ways easier and gives more results than "half an hour of half-hearted lifting with weights that are easy for you".
If you're moronic enough to use the same intensity in cardio, as you do in lifting, you have yourself to blame

Just include rowing, swimming, running, jump rope skipping and cycling into your activities for 30-60 min. 3-5 times a week and you will be fine and won't have any issuss.
This is probably true, marathon runners drop dead young
Who seriously thinks running 26.2 miles straight is good for you?
Of course bloatmaxxing is obviously bad for you too
Strength, and muscularity, correlate immensely well to health, especially in later life. Maintaining strength into old age will literally put decades on your life. In fact I read a report where they took six octogenarians who could not stand out of a chair unasissted, and had them strength train a couple of times a week. Nothing major, just ~8 lifts full body, for 1 set of 8-12 reps, nice and slow and controlled. After SIX WEEKS all of the oldies could rise from their chairs without help, and 3 of them had discarded their walkers and were happily walking around unassisted. That's a miracle that jesus performed in the bible, and it can be done with strength training.
The solution to a long and healthy life is to be well-rounded and not put too many points into any one attribute, but that doesn't generate clicks because it's fricking obvious and doesn't appeal to autists of any kind
Can you link the report. Trying to convince my father in law and grandfather to exercise and will do exercise with them just so we can spend time together and I can help improve their quality of life.
Would be good to know exercises, rest times, frequency, etc.
I can
I read about it in this article from the British Journal of Sports Medicine:
https://blogs.bmj.com/bjsm/2017/11/27/resistance-training-underutilised-drug-available-everybodys-medicine-cabinet/
Which links the study itself here:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2342214/
I did however get a few details wrong from memory - it was 8 weeks, and 3 of them were unable to stand up unassisted, with only 1 progressing in that short time to standing and walking unassisted. On the other hand, they weren't octogenarians, they were actually nonagenarians, meaning 90+ years old!
For health-related effects for agining populations, I'd also recommend Dr Wayne Westcott's work, including his books on the subject. Here's a study of his to pass on:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22777332/
Re. details of the exercise routine etc. in these studies it's very common to follow the below template which iirc is a standard put out by... I want to say the american National Sport & Conditioning Something ?
Which is broadly 8-12 lifts, covering the whole body, for 2-3 sets (including warmup set(s)) of 8-12 reps, to concentric failure, with double progression.

Last reply I promise, I remembered this article, which summarises a ton of literature to make the case that a minimum of training (an hour or two a week) has massive benefits for the general public

> Who seriously thinks running 26.2 miles straight is good for you?
Even enthusiastic marathoners are running full marathons infrequently, even then it's only like 3 hours of running at a moderate if you are fit, not massively outside of the parameters of the human body as long as you maintain adequate hydration.
im not going to watch the video but people at both extremes are not healthy. powerlifters are usually overweight. marathon runners are usually underweight. the excessive training in both cases can also lead to unnecessary stress on the body.
most people who train either running or lifting or both are just average though. they don't fall into the extreme athlete catergory and frankly don't need to worry about anything these guys might be spouting. lift 3-4 days a week, run 2-3 and you'll stay fit and healthy. simple as.
I wonder whether any of these fat SS dudes can maintain an erection anymore.
It's really not that difficult to be strong and be in good cardiovascular health. I just don't understand why Rip and his cult-members have gone so far in the direction of denying any benefits of cardio/running/whatever else. To sell their product? To own the libs? I don't get it man.
The funniest thing is that Rippetoe actually runs himself. He's talked about it a few times. I think he just adopts the extreme position for clickbait/because he genuinely enjoys arguing the contrarian position.
The utter stupidity here. You all seem to think you need to be skinny and jog to have decent cardio health. Why?
Being 250 lbs at 20% bodyfat is not the same as being a sedentary obese person. There is no similarity at all, and nothing unhealthy about it. The worst think you can say is they "don't look good" although I disagree. But if you can squat 500x5 your heart and lungs are going to be in good working order. Why do you need to jog?
This is just persistent conventional wisdom rotting your perceptions. What is it about adipose tissue that makes you immediately lose all capacity to think?
Both die 40 years early from their tard behaviours.

Why is it a competition? Why would you want to weak or be unable to do anything without gasping for breath?
Do you think this actually represents people who lift heavy? This is a facebook boomer tier meme.

True, but it's still not "harder than lifting"

People who live sedentary lives are more healthy than both. Exercises kills you.
