Whats your unpopular IST opinions?
I'll start:
>Chest is overrated
Bronze era bodybuilders were peak physique when it comes to shape. Ancient Greek statues had the same physique, fighters have the same physique, even look at gorillas, they don't have huge pecs relative to the rest of their muscles.
Thats because big pecs are unnatural, the chest press movement is not common in nature and daily activities. Bronze era bodybuilders didn't bench press, at most they'd do pushups. Big pecs are a more modern phenomenon in bodybuilding. Thats why women say they don't like the bodybuilder physique, since modern bodybuilders have huge pecs. Its the one muscle that if its underdeveloped, won't break the aesthetics of their body.

I love BBWs and PAWGs, regardless of weight, as long as the shape isn’t spherical. I justify this by being larger than 99% of people and being able to manhandle 200+lbs of woman.
have a nice day disgusting fat fetishist.
You deserve to die.
You are the reason disgusting women let themselves get so disgusting.
You are responsible for female obesity and I hope your existence is wiped from this earth.

First week on IST?
Your workout routine doesn't matter too much
If you enter a workout like a samurai rushing to his death you will succeed
that chest is well developed bro, it just doesn't pop out as much because of how fricking yoked he is in every other aspect
Theres a lot of mma gays on here
They have a bias towards bronze era physiques because thats what their favorite mma fighters look like
Mma chad here, i think chest is very underrated for performance.
Chest elastic recoil is the last bit of the kinetic chain that would add a shit ton of power into punches.
justin gaethje, chuck liddell, conor mcgregor, derrick lewis, vitor belfort, all these guys are known for power in their hands, none of them have big pecs, even with derrick lewis being a fat frick, he's barely got tittys
Yes and? That's why i said underrated, a lot of them use elastic recoil to add power to their shots, if they had bigger stronger pecs they would hit even harder.
Is not obligatory but it would help a lot more than people think, ofcourse on top of having bigger pecs you also need to train that elastic recoil or is all for nothing but a lot of fighters, specially all that you mentioned lift to improve performance so the same can apply to the chest.
That's wrong. Turning your hips over and rotating, using your whole body will always add magnitudes more force than a pec muscle ever could at the end of a punch. Watch how Mike Tyson used to box; he wasn't relying on his chest. Not to mention the added size might slow down your arms which would lower the power (force x speed) even if they are contracting with slightly more force.
Just apply an ounce of logic to the situation - is any champion boxer/kick boxer throwing punches like a machine fly, relying on their pecs? Is any of the top boxing coaches emphasizing chest muscles? They would much sooner emphasize glute size, to increase hip power you dumb c**t
newsflash doofus: most mma fighters have strong benches.
I literally said in my first post that the elastic recoil is the last bit of the kinetic chain that adds tons of power, i never said is the only part or the most important, i said is an underrated part in striking.
weighted push ups are better than bench in every way.
>T.Can't bench more than lmao1pl8
i will ignore your blatant ragebait and explain myself
>larger range of motion
>allows natural movement of the shoulder
>lower chance of shoulder injury than bench and dips
>can't get choked out if you fail the rep
>better for chest hypertrophy because of larger ROM
>less equipment required for home gyms, just need a backpack and anything heavy to put in it
Larger rom is only true on rings and if that's your concern dumbbells achieve that just the same.
Bench and push ups are literally the same pattern.
Lower chance of injury is because you can't overload them nearly as much and only morons that ego lift injure themselves.
morons only get choked out if they don't use pins.
Hypertrophy is limited by how much weight you can load.
Last one is the only fair point.
You literally have no real reason to think weighted push ups are better, atleast say you like them better just because, would be more respectable than all your cope and headcannon.
They're very good but loading them is a pain in the ass
Do what I did and get a strong bag
Most mma fighters do plenty of benching. 315x10 is the minimum standard most non-manlet fighters strive for.
I agree op
The Greek look is unsurpassed
>calisthenics and weightlifting are both superior for building strength, calisthenics makes the body capable of moving the body through space, weightlifting makes the body capable of moving heavy objects through space
>cardio does not kill gains,as a matter of fact it makes gains, you'd progress much faster on deadlifts if you weren't completely gassed by the 4th rep
>dont train for hypertrophy, train for strength and you'll be there
>you have no reason to be dieting for visible abs if you're already under 15% bodyfat, just train them with weights, whatever you're doing during your cut isnt sustainable anyway
>if you train for women,a year of training will easily get you to what most women are looking for,no,if you roid and even reach 500 lbs 7% bodyfat women wont magically approach nor will you suddenly become unafraid of talking to women without talking to them
A big chest kinda sucks if you run, well, being big overall hurts running.
Strong but not oversized pecs help with shovel hooks specifically and are useful to in-fighters
Opinion 1: most fit-tards listen to roided "LIFT MORE PUSSY" bodybuilders when they would be better served listening to dudes like Peter Attia or Huberman or at least Israetel
Opinion 2: If people were actually training for better quality of life - it would be some muscle building (getting a base), good conditioning, and doing largely functional movements all the while taking up a sport or two as the social vehicle and output for that effort.
Pure bodybuilding is some unnatural shit.
You can be healthy and obese, the same way you can be healthy and a smoker.
It will take a toll on your health over time, but a 25 year old who has a BMI of 32.5 or something is probably healthy otherwise.
Half of what people call “roided” is achievable natty. It’s roiders trying to get others to roid. Like when black people try to get you to do crack with them as a sort of initiation or else they won’t trust you.
Roiders and women also do this.
