I get the ethical side of vegans, and ostensibly I understand your arguments about the unhealthiness of animal products even if I disagree, but what argument do vegans have about honey? What excuse do you have to miss out on honey gains, besides ethics?

Maybe it's the fact that Kant isn't known for his animal rights views, but you still had to namedrop him for some reason, as if he were the sole authority for ethical discussion, and even then you didn't realize he actually spoke about animal suffering at one point. But this wasn't covered in your little seminar, so you think it's not relevant.
                >my professor WASNT mentally ill
Unlikely, since academics are all mentally ill.

Not sure about that. Kant emphasized rationality and autonomy, which he associated with humans, not animals, but he still insisted we have indirect duties concerning animals and that it's our moral obligation to not mistreat them.

You can be against the agricultural/meat industry and their brutal treatment of animals and for minimizing animal suffering, and be fine with local farmers if they treat animals humanely.

Funny enough that's an argument amongst vegans to my understanding. Since it's beneficial to bees to be kept by beekeepers, and they produce more honey than they'll ever use, and the sale of honey helps the keepers keep more bees, there's an argument that it's okay.

There is no ethical side of vegans. Animal products are not unhealthy.

I'm not vegan or vegetarian but intellectually dishonest homosexuals like you deserve to get punched in the neck.

        Anonymous

It is beneficial to take chicken eggs and milk cows milk provided you have not forced the milk production and the calf is done consuming it. It being beneficial is not an argument really, it is plainly unethical to harvest honey, but my point was veganism for health is a myth even if they are right about other animal products which again I disagree.

        >I get the ethical side of vegans
lmao imagine "Getting" the ethics of a fricking cult.

I am a hardcore libertarian, veganism makes perfect sense to me especially with the disregard for pest animals. Even if you argue it is beneficial for cows and chickens to live under humans it is still theft and our treatment of animals is essentially fascism, the sacrificing of rights for a better end. One day I hope to own a little property and be a chicken and bee fascist dictator.

I can understand choosing not to eat meat as a protest to certain cruelties of the current meat industry, but I wonder how much consideration goes into the welfare of animals when dickheads like this use it as an excuse to post social media content.

Yes, albeit very slowly. I restrict sugar and PUFAs. I consume a lot of coconut butter and milk. I eat tempeh over tofu. I combine different plant proteins to ensure that I’m getting all or at least 7 out of 9 essential amino acids. I can OHP 135, bench 195 (lmao), squat 275 and I’m not gonna deadlift. I have respect for people who raise their own livestock or hunt/fish their own food. I know that my diet nerfs my gains. I don’t mind having the extra challenge.

I'm convinced that food, especially meat, is like a drug. The amount of mental gymnastics people employ when faced with claims that they don't want animals to needlessly suffer is insane.

I am heavily considering taking up hunting. I don't care about animal rights for it to sacrifice my eating habits, but the unnecessary suffering involved in the modern meat industry gets to me. Think I'd rather take personal resposibility and quickly kill something that lived a natural life instead.
