      But anon, I am.
Yesterday I went for a 3 hour walk following a creek that passes by my house.

That sucks bro. There are a lot of things I don't like about my neighbourhood but being close to a nice bit of green space counts for a lot. This path stetches for at least 2 hours in one direction and at least 3 in the other.

I do, I try to get at least 1h of pure walking every single day, sometimes more. I still walk less than what I used to back when I was single. Those were the days, walking for 6, 7 hours every day. Now I'm married, time is precious, can't really walk everywhere when you're running errands all day.

      Also takes forever.

Wtf did you do with the 7hours? Must be boring as frick.
Over here there are 200days of rain per year. Walking is not an option.

It doesn’t work. I walked 10k to 20k steps per day everyday for a year and didn’t lose a pound or detect to any substantial change to my health or fitness.

Maybe you kept eating like a pig. You cant outwalk a bad diet.

It has nothing to do with eating. Walking will not make you lose fat. It just won’t. If you ate in a caloric deficit, the amount of additional calories burned from walking will be negligible. You will improve the sort of health markers that doctors pay attention to and that’s all.

          You are wrong,
energy burned though walking utilizes more fat burning metabolic pathways than running. Even in the context of a purely maintence diet it has a significant impact on body composition assuming it's regular and significant enough (400+ kcal in expenditure)

            >the amount of additional calories burned from walking will be negligible
you saying someone who walks 8 miles a day burns negligible calories?

Walking will help you lose weight, especially if done right (fast paced, consistent). But of course it won't help much if you eat like a pig. You can only burn so many calories with walking, even if it's fast paced

Try it and see morons. You won’t lose anything.

I lost ten pounds in less than three months because I started walking six miles everyday in college because I had no friends.

it's great but it can't be a stroll if you're young. needs hills and targeting max walk speed.

Walking is fine but boring. I'd jog everywhere if running cloths didn't look so dumb and weren't so cold indoors.
