The vast majority of our ancestors did not have depression even though their life revolved around producing food and relatively limited entertainment. It’s the quest for these happy chemicals that leaves people depressed. Controlling unearned dopamine- ie video games, jerking off, porn, social media, even hyper palatable food, etc. is the best way to control depression, though it involves considerable suffering during the transition period.
