Just buy a fricking boat bro
Powershitters fear the erg
On the contrary it’s probably one of the best cardio machines to use as a power lifter. It’s essentially an aerobic version of the squat/ deadlift and it’s very easy on the joints compared to running.
What could this do that lifting + running couldnt
The way i row i really dont need much more
i think you probably do need a little more if all you are doing is low intensity 10ks
please go and put in 10k in under 45 and tell me how low intensity it is.
eh it's not bad
2:08 pace is my LISS day on the rower usually 12-15km. that is a conversational easy pace you Black person
Form has to be bad if you are doing that many strokes per minute for 2:16 that’s what I get when I do sub 20
>32s/m
you should be sub 2 for 500 AT MINIMUM. nice almost quints
I prefer riding my bike cuz it can also actually get me places
I have never seen someone at the gym using a rowing machine correctly
They put the resistance on 10 and use terrible form
Always. Drag factor ~100-130 depending on your size/strength (when in doubt, go on the lower end to save your back). 18-22 strokes per minute is where the majority of erging should be. Legs, body, arms. It is not very complex.
Go watch a form video on youtube. 32spm is unacceptable for those splits.
t. 20k at 1:58 today (and Im mediocre compared to actual rowers)
NTA, I'm a newbie to rowing.
Is 32 too little or too much for what he's doing?
its too fast. should be slower with more force generated per pull
Thanks friends, I'm gonna keep these in mind and check the channel.
Far too high. rate 32 is at or near max effort if you are being effective. 2k (standard test distance, ~6 minutes) is often a few beats higher but depends on the person. 6k (another standard, ~20 min) is often 30 +/- 2 beats. Low intensity steady state should be around 18-22, medium intensity in the 24-28 range.
Focus on having long, effective strokes. Check out some youtube workout guys like Dark Horse. I dont use them but they seem to all have fine form to look at.
How does drag factor correlate into the basic 1-20 numbers on most rowers?
Been erging for a couple months now. But I was surprised how little it transferred to running. When I started incorporating running into cardio days, ankles and glutes got crazy sore. It’s very interesting how the rowing and running use very different muscles. And it’s understandable I guess, running is a lot more high impact than rowing but I really thought rowing would transfer a lot more.
high impact sucks so drop running
anything is better
just run on soil homie
I run on trails. Love the nature and the dirt helps with impact. I still erg row every week though.
>mogs your c*ncept
>makes women wet
>makes you as cool as kevin spacey
what more could you want?
every time i see a rowing machine i have to think of spacey
how does it compare to a concept2?
whenever talking of rowing machine, concept2 is the standard recc and everyone demonizes water and magnetic rowers
is the difference that big?
Just get a c2.
it's a cardio machine bro
just get anything and it works if you use it
>demonizes water rowers
>performing an exercise that mimics rowing in water
I never understood this
The water is gimmicky trash. C2 are superior.
Used one of these at a hotel in Amsterdam, honestly I prefer the concept
How do you survive such long distance? My record 1K pace is 1:50/500m and for 2K it’s 1:58/500m. Don’t think I could manage any further than 3-4K at 2.08 and it’s not like my cardio is bad, I’m lean and can run a half marathon no problem. I exclusively row without straps so maybe that’s it?
What one do I buy if I don't want to spend 1000 dollars
Yeah sure it is full body workout that solves conditioning
How do I get a nicely ripped body with it though
See? I do need more after all
if you are doing squats, use a fricking rack!
Yoo is this the beginning of /erg/ generals?!!
nah, this board barely lifts at all, like 0.1% of people here does cardio
too unpopular for a general sadly
I've actually started fricking around with the rowing machines at my gym but I had a feeling I've got no idea what I'm doing. I set the resistance all the way up and close my eyes and imagine I'm rowing a boat to try and get the correct form, but it doesn't really feel like I'm doing anything even after like 10 minutes.
Anyone have links to good form videos? From what I've read online >7min 2km is pretty bad for a male and pic related was rpe 10
Row without straps that’s like 80% of it
I wish I had one of these.
I row and play tennis. In the best shape of my life, tbh.
TAKE ME BACK AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
