what's this look like to you? do you just come up with new recipes all the time or do you just enjoy cooking the standard IST diet of chicken, potatoes etc?

I don’t come up with any recipes. I really enjoy saving money and WFH so I will try and cook often. I will google stuff or go down a rabbit hole for certain regional cuisines, like I recently got into Hmong and Vietnamese. I count calories so I don’t eat the normal fit diet but I only meat 1 meal a day and usually have just a protein shake and some fruit or nuts for lunch or something

how else do you save money?
I literally track every dime I spend for the fun of it. Just made a rough diagram of how much these hobbies cost me. The top two have actually made me money in the past and the bottom two cost the money since they require a membership where I live and a high monthly payment. Also tracking the time spent commuting.

Easiest way to save money is to cook and cultivate your own food, pay off debt, and invest money wisely, I would say a decent portion of Americans have debt and are not investing in their retirement or stocks. Additionally you should be pirating anything you stream and save money on monthly subscriptions.

Sex isn’t a hobby unless you’re a porn addict. If you’re married it’s just something you do a few times a week for 6 minutes

          Anonymous

          >6 minutes
I will never understand how the average man can cum that quickly. Even if I’m speed running it I take a minimum of 10-20mins to jack off and usually take over 40mins to cum if I’m fricking a chick

I don’t. Try again. Taking a long time to cum has been more beneficial to me than not. Every chick I’ve fricked I’ve been able to make orgasm multiple times. Record was when I went 2hours straight with an ex and had her orgasm at least 15 times. She was a nympho and was never satisfied

video games are a waste of time. Its basically board games but online. No one plays them over the age of 30 except for losers without girlfriends/wives or redditors. If you really wanna deal with your demons, look at the amount of hours you've spent playing on steam and think about all the time you could have used working out or making money in that time. For me it was 742 hours and I quit cold turkey. Literally took a baseball bat to my pc

Working overtime, spending more time at the gym, reading books, investing money or picking up cans on the side of the road or coins in parking lots, hitting on women, just insane the amount of time you spend playing Mario kart man, think about how little anyone cares you won the superbowl in madden.

Personally I spend my time hunting and fishing and gardening lately. Trying to cultivate my own food and not give money away. I clip coupons as well. I recently paid off all my cars and student loans. All I have is a 1800$ mortgage at 3.2% interest rate and utility bills and I pull down around 6$k/month net

Let's just say it isn't work either and this allows me to be a leach and get paid out of taxes for doing a do-nothing make work job and paying nothing back. I am a bigger net negative to gdp than a Black person in prison. There is absolutely no reason at all to work hard as long as money isn't real. What are they going to do? Downsize the government? Half of men earning over 100k are some combination of autistic, asian or live on an expensive coastal city. The 100k mark isn't really a big deal anymore, lots of apartment dwelling bugmen in places like san jose earn that. It would be more interesting to see the percentage for those earning over 250k.

To be fair if you check shadowstats, $100k in 2022 is $38k in 2012. Our currency has been debased and destroyed. Ribeye was $6.99/lb in 2019 and is now $15.99/lb. It's fricking over. There is zero reason to try anymore. Just get a welfare job with the chair force or the epa or the irs or whatever bullshit handout job and collect a check and pension for doing nothing.

We threaten people with guns and have an exclusivity deal with saudi arabia to only accept oil for us dollars. So other countries must exchange for dollars to buy oil. If somebody tries to go onto their own gold standard we bomb them. That's what happened to lybia. If I were el salvador, venezuela, or argintina I would be extremely worried about my future.

I didn't say 100k isn't impressive. It's entirely relative. If you make 100k in Missouri or something then you probably have a decent job, a nice house, can afford a stay at home wife, etc. If you live in san francisco then you'll be spending over half your take home income on rent for your apartment.

half of your followers as you'd said wouldn't get it and the other half what? what is the expected outcome/reaction from them? only good reason I personally see is if you want to actually motivate someone who spends a lot of time playing videogames to go do something more fulfilling, but in that case, do you think posting this specific screenshot will actually have the desired effect?

honestly social media and worrying about what to post on them is even more of a time-waste than videogames, with games you at least get some enjoyment, with social media you just spend time thinking about what some randoms seeing your picture/video for a mere few seconds will think/if they'll approve or whatever

There's a bit of a learning curve but I had been making pizza from scratch for a few years before I started baking bread. Most of the time for baking sourdough is inactive where you can do literally anything else, and you'll have some leeway on fermentation time because it's so slow fermenting compared to commercial yeast. There's tons of informative videos out there.

I make my own bread, it's delicious. My family DEVOURED it at Christmas. It's piss easy. My wife found a no knead bread.

Starter (which I've been keeping alive for a few months), flour, water, salt. Wait half an hour. Fold into loaf. Leave to rest covered for 8-12 hours (depending on temp). Fold and shape again. If it didn't overproof on first rise, leave to rise in Dutch oven for an hour on parchment paper. If it proofed like a mother fricker on first rise, go straight into oven and skip second proofing. Bake for 30 mins at 440°F covered, then 20 mins uncovered.

In terms of total hands on time, it take 15 minute. A loaf this good is 7-8$ in the store here, cost me 0.80$ to make.

Honestly I'd start by just making regular white bread with yeast first. That's really easy. Water, flour, and yeast. Salt to taste. Sugar to make the yeast start up before mixing it in. Super easy to learn. No fancy shit like milk or eggs til you get that down.

once you understand the fundamentals and reach the point where you can intuitively troubleshoot your dough
which takes maybe a month of baking a couple loaves per week
you can basically make perfect sourdough on autopilot with ~15 mins of actual labor

They pretend like they’re anti consumer, israelite hating, manly men who have their shit together and when you point out that they’re literally north of 30 and play things meant for children they flip out because the pain and realization of how much of their life they’ve wasted is too much for them to bear and cope with so they ignore reality

i geniuely dont understand whats wrong with consuming, i only cringe when people do it for show off reasons. i have no problem if people have passion for thing and consume it, even the cringy way

          Anonymous

It used to be said to make fun of the funko pop/ disney crowd who will buy anything and make it their personality. Now in typical internet fashion, it means anything I don't like (while ignoring what I like/consume)

          Anonymous

I consume too, I bought a new enameled Dutch oven the other day for my sourdough. It's nice and very pretty. It's normal, as soon as you buy anything it's consooming. The problem arises when all of someone's joy is derived directly from consuming. If I drive my car with my family out to the countryside and we go on a nature walk, it's not typically considered "consuming" despite the fact that I purchased a car, paid for fuel and if it's a national park, paid for access. But if for fun all I do is pay for and interact with/watch media, it's a wasted consumption.

            >But if for fun all I do is pay for and interact with/watch media, it's a wasted consumption.
its perfectly normal to consume, humans get dopamine from consumption. even narcissistic consumption i called cringy, is still about dopamine but more mental mastrubation type.
