    i was attacked as a kid while playing on a playground. ever since then i always wanted to be physically strong to never let this happen to me again. unfortunately i think it also caused some social anxiety because my body for some odd reason wants to get nervous every time i leave my house.

    Started in order to add to have my body match my face. Had a beard and my face looked oldish, but my body was that of a skinny 16 year old.

    a lot of different things.
    I had a weights class teacher in highschool who was probably the coolest dude i've ever met. pretty short, high functioning autistic, big fan of functional fitness, heavy stretching/yoga. He reminded me of Bruce lee or John Wick, he was super diligent in his training and always humble. despite not being jacked, he was the kind of guy you know could rock anyones shit if he wanted to. he was also encouraged people to find the type of fitness that worked for them. he had tips for everyone no matter what they were trying to get into, running, powerlifting, bodybuilding, swimming, gymnastics, ball-sports, etc etc.
    I have a huge amount of respect for him, and he helped teach me the importance of discipline and a bit of philosophical masochisim.
    secondly it's reddit cringe, but jojos bizzare adventure, and learning anatomy while trying to get better at drawing has given me an appreciation for the male physique and makes me want to make my body into not only a tool, but art I can be proud of.
    third, I'm currently a wagie at home despot, so I want to get better than I currently am at lifting heavy things to be able to help old people, lesbian couples, and the occasional rare cute girl.
    also health, but I think i'm doing decent on that so far.

    My father told me he'd pay for my gym membership if I just went 3 times a week since I spent all my sparetime inside infront of the computer. 10 years later I have my father to thank for my physique and improved mental health.

    2. A day with a training is a day well spent, it gives satisfaction of labor
    3. I realised I became stronger when I was able to do some shit in yoga I couldn't do before. I like feeling strong and more capable. Sense of progress

    I noticed fat people are treated way worse then skinny people. So I started to loose weight last year… when ever people ask IRL i just lie and say oh a health scare, I’m only 25. But really I just wanted people to stop being mean to me. It’s worked.

      I remember when I worked in an office one summer, there was this new guy who'd started in a department downstairs. He used to have to come upstairs to verify things with people in my office. Lad was about 140 kg, no joke. He'd be red faced and out of breath after the one flight of stairs he had to climb. They'd be nice to him when he was there, but the minute he was gone would be laughing at how far he was. Felt bad for the last, but hopefully he had a wake up call at some point and lost it

        Used to work on a building site with similar, who was the site agent and a world class twat as well.

    I've been lifting proper since I was 16 and was able to get a membership. But I started getting into resistance training and bodyweight stuff (push ups, pull ups, crunches, dips) when I was 14 because I was sick of looking like a gangly beanpole and getting shit for it. Already had a pretty decent physique by the time I was able to start gymming and so I progressed pretty quickly since I wasn't coming from the position of being totally untrained. Was still a loser, but got a certain level of respect for being taller and more jacked than any of my classmates.
