Assault/echo bike is good ass HIIT. Weighs 130 pounds though.
Useless garbage for fat fricks who are "too insecure" to go outside and walk for 2 hours
Why tf would I walk for two hours when I can burn just as many if not more calories in the fraction of the time
Work smarter not harder dummy
Outside
>Hot af
>Cold af
>Humid af
>BUGS
>Other people
>dangerous terrains
My cousin just got hospitalized yesterday after he was hit with a motorcycle while he's cycling.
I rather have my cycling/walking inside an air conditioned room, where I got distracted by TV or Internet while walking/cycling.
if i had to deal with all that i'd just move bruv
I live in a 3rd world country bruv. It's way safer to buy a static bike than driving a bicycle outside.
my condolences, congrats on your static bike
lol what are you even talking about, you know people can sell their houses before buying more right?
also i feel like me saying 'bruv' should have tipped you off that i wasn't being particularly serious
yes, just move to another $100k house instead of just buying a basic $1k assault bike
stupid
>move to another $100k house
good luck with that
I live in a pretty low cost "shitty area" and even here the average house price has soared to like $200k+ for a shitty old hovel that needs work. Just a few years ago you could buy the same for around $60k.
>$100k house
you live in a cardboard box?
My friend's dad was recommended bu a doctor an elliptical instead of running after he got a heart attack
But going outside won't help me finish my anime backlog.
It does if you don't care to watch where you're going. Maybe you'll get isekaied
I think they're not rowing machines which keeps them out of the meme category. Although pic right is questionable...
wait rowing machine is a meme?
can i have a qrd?
Nta, I enjoy rowing but kind of agree its a meme.
I used to use it as cardio to finish out back day, but it basically does nothing.
Maybe a bit of a trap pump, but that's it.
It's the bouldering of cardio machines, in that you think it's gonna be a strength based exercise but in order to "do it right" you have to use "technique" and keep a steady pace instead of varying based on your own whims. Basically nerds ruining exercise, as usual.
Don't even get me started on the resistance setting on a rower which article after article screams isn't a difficulty slider. Whys it more difficult then, homosexuals?
They're just looking for a way to feel smart about staying at 4/10 and doing a pathetic 27 strokes a minute for a half hour.
Rowing is cool, doing it properly is not.
thanks bro
what would you suggest over rowing? perhaps op's pic?
>Rowing is cool, doing it properly is not.
Good thing that instead of doing it properly I crank that b***h up to 10 and go hard as frick while blasting Amon Amarth and pretending I'm rowing a viking longship to go frick shit up.
>retending I'm rowing a viking longship to go frick shit up.
i dunno why but i assumed vikings used slaves to row their ships like the greeks did.
being a viking must've sucked dick
you’re probably flailing around and looking like a moron and rowing shit times
What the frick are you on. 27 strokes per minute isn’t pathetic. Neither is 14 or 30 or 37 (if you know what you’re doing). What’s important is your 500 split and your heartrate. Post your 500 or 2k time, on whatever “difficulty” you want. I bet I’ve beaten it.
To add on to this, most really good college rowers or Olympic athletes or whatever the frick will do lots of steady state training well under a 27
Rowing is only good for home gym, if you don't have much room
Elliptical is better low intensity steady state
Assault bike is better high intensity interval training
Rowing is convenient because you can do both with one machine, but it does not excel at either
assault bike can do it all. it can also be low intensity steady state. it''s easy to do just make sure to maintain 120-150W for low intensity for 40 mins and u get the same effect
it's actually the best device ever made. I have it for a year now and It's still my favorite even tho i do it daily
>Rowing Machine is a meme
Thank God someone finally said it. I thought I was the only one. It is so overrated.
I can workout my cardiovascular system doubly harder with an Assault Bike.
>I'm waiting for other people to validate my dislike over something
Oh please, no one asking for your opinion.
People, if you want to get a rowing machine, just get one.
t. seething concept2 fanboy
every fat chick has one of these in her hallway as decoration
isnt it a laundry holder?
left is god tier
never tried right, IST says it is garbage, but we all know this board doesn't lift, so you might need to look somewhere else for opinions
I use right to do a warmup, works pretty good
the left one, assault bike, is responsible for 90% of my gains. I can't think of a single better fitness equipment.
got 40 mins?
u go on this thing u building all kinds of muscle from forearms, chest, lats, legs etc while burning fat
all i do is this bike and pullups and i make massive gains
Post body? How TF does a bike work your chest? I was thinking of getting one to ride while I watch a show
cba just go try it.
but it work with wind resistance, the harder u go, the harder resistance. so you can actually burn urself completely in 20 seconds if u go all in. it's unique like that. anyway u will need earphones to watch something on it cuz it's loud and u can't aim it at your tv. or it will flip it with the wind it produces
I have it next to my computer and I watch stuff on my phone/tablet and do 40 mins daily and nothing come close the burns it will give and therefore gains.
it work this muscles while burning tons of calories:
forearms
lats
chest
abs
hamstrings
quads
so u will still need shoulders to be 100% covered
keep in mind i am going for body like ronaldo and not like arnolds so this is not bulk master machine.
but i am pretty much already there, just need to cut 4% more body fat
if u are fat and u use this to for weight loss, u will come out shredded
you pull and push the handles back and forth , not OP tho
Assault bikes are based.
>How TF does a bike work your chest?
See those handles on the OP image? Look closely. They move. They are part of the peddling mechanism.
I jump on the assault bike at the end of a workout for tabata HIIT gains after my HIT workout.
It's nice being the single loudest thing in the gym.
>He fell for the tabata meme
Elaborate, wasted dubs trips.
Do a more sensible and less abbreviated form of HIIT since you probably can't do 130% of your vo2 max anyway if you're not a pro athlete like all the people in the study were.
>why do more when you can do less
why would it matter. it's cardio
30 sec high intensity 90 seconds low intensity for 20 minutes will work better. Try it.
The perfect HIIT and LISS pair.
nobody uses the ellipticals at my gym
i wonder why
Mike Israetel seems to rate ellipticals so I use them.
why is it called assault bike? Why is the fan thing so huge? Does your pedaling basically power the fan?
It's called Air Bike here.
Because it was invented by a company called Assault Fitness
>Because it was invented by a company called Assault Fitness
The Schwinn Airdyne was introduced in their 1979 catalogue (see pic), Assault Fitness was founded in 2004.
the assault one sounds cooler I have the elite version
which is much sturdier at 136 lbs than this 77lbs version
but gotta admit that dials looks sexy on that thing
As you might expect, the current Airdyne is a bit more “modern” that the almost 45y/o original:
https://global.schwinnfitness.com/en/ad8/100475.html
>Does your pedaling basically power the fan?
you can peddle and use your arms, just arms, or just peddle, the peddles and arms are tied together and linked to the fan. The faster you go the more the fan resists. The shitty pic you can see you can rest your feet on the pegs and just use your arms. You will be surprised how fast your arms get tired with just arms. It took me about a month before I could do 30 minutes with just arms. If you want to burn max calories you need arms and legs, but just arms is great for arm conditioning. More gyms should have these bikes
>If you want to burn max calories you need arms and legs
yeah everyone knows the body stores fat primarily in the limbs
It puts a much higher load on your cardiovascular system and you burn more fat as a result.
>higher load on your cardiovascular system and you burn more fat as a result.
makes sense but why can't i just run faster instead of doing this moronic shit?
You can overload your system much higher than you can running, and for a much longer time. It's not like a bicycle (those are designed to minimize effort).
If you have never used one, you can genuinely make yourself throw up in under a minute from exercising too hard.
based anon now i'm actually considering it, frick i gotta change gyms again.
>why is it called assault bike?
It's not. Who the frick calls an exercise bike an assault bike?
I live at the beach and always see the same three giga blonde German chads use this for five hours
>i live at the beach
homeless homosexual detected
>he's too poor for a beach house
For weak wiener suckers
these weak wiener suckers lasts hours in bed
while you get gassed out from merely going upstairs
enjoy your heart failure, powerfat
These are great if you know how to use them. With the bike you can do arm only, which I do a lot, then you can also do HIIT profiles to improve high output and recovery while still going. I do this for MX training, a sprint lap and a fast lap but still able to recover the next sprint if needed. Races are between 20 and 45 minutes depending on format. The ellyptical machine is great low impact cardio. I used to run a lot but repepative injuries to ankles, knees and hips from skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking and mx, and I am old, make this important low impact cardio option. I wish I started using these long ago.
elliptical is fun but it can exacerbate knee problems.
>IST
left is a waste of time, right is good for practicing walking around a snowy wasteland and little else.
just run.
>just run.
sorry but i value my joints and knees, and want to reach old age without ever needing a walker and without needing to be high on painkillers 24/7
Based. I have a knee injury so elliptical lets me do cardio with low risk of making it worse while strengthening supporting muscles. Healing.
Left costs $2k AUD?! For a fricking bike? What the frick?
>>Left costs $2k AUD?! For a fricking bike? What the frick?
Are you buying commercial grade gym equipment from commercial suppliers? You are an absolute moron if you do so. Buy them from gyms. You can easily get one that's basically new (needs a screw or two replaced), retails for 2k AUD, and has 2500km on it for around 300-400 aud.
I bought the assault elite version for that one 1 year ago. it gave me shredded body and insane forearms
honestly worth it and i still use it daily also look cool and is loud af (love it) give you that loud VRRR like a car which makes music better
>gym has three of them
>only one that uses them
>they're usually covered in dust
Fan bikes are the most based cardio equipment because instead of consuming electricity, you're producing air conditioning.
Moving air around doesn't condition it.
Enter
stairmaster is crazy good
shame it works lower body only
Agreed
i don't think about them
cardio is for gays
My grandma used one for a few decades and she's dead now
half mile sprint on an assault bike is BRUTAL. When I was a noob in the gym I had a trainer. He had me do a half mile sprint on the assault bike. Hey saved it for the end of the workout because he said "after this, you aint gonna be able to do anything else." And boy was he right! The amount of lactic acid buildup is so painful, I've never felt a burn and throbbing pain like that from working out in my life, and not even now, 6 years later. After, I literally fell to the floor, trying to catch my breath, and my quads absolutely throbbing. I ended up going to my car after the workout and passed out for 20 minutes.
I use these plus SkiErg at my gym with FatGripz to get more tension in arms and train forearms.
Really good for developing vascularity, I use them to finish off my upper body after lifting.
last bump from me, time to let it go
good thread lads
Why not just run outside?
