As long as those screws are long enough and in a ceiling joist it should be fine.

Love when IST incels who don't even own a drill make comments like this. Those look like lag bolts and are drilled into the stud. LMAO if you think anything under 500lbs is going to rip those out

I have never seen one attached to the ceiling like that, and there's probably a good reason for that. Make absolute sure it's secure, and that it doesn't loosen over time.

Also how much room will you have to go up? Mind your head. Overall a great candidate for designfails.

You can attach shit to the ceiling but it needs to be done properly. You don't just screw it into the joist and call it a day. You have to bridge 2 or even 3 together to support it. Surface cleat is probably the easiest way but blocking is the best way.

Then periodically you should tighten the screws.

Looks too close to the ceiling. I like the idea of the chain attached only in the middle of the bar to increase instability and difficulty, but idk if it would be functional or practical.

my apartment building has a small gym with a pullup bar with about that much head room. there is a head shaped hole banged in the roof panel and the insulation layer behind it from all the use over the years

It's possible to hang this safely, especially if you added a block between 2 beams
But that's way too close to the ceiling for comfort

I recently mounted a pull up bad in my garage but realized only after I installed it into 3 layers of particle board. The lag bolts are pretty long and it’s rated for over twice my weight to begin with so I think I’ll leave it until I feel like reinstalling it.

Too close to wall. Im not into "kipping" pull ups but a little body movement fore and aft is normal and acceptable, perhaps even desireable if your pulling the bar into the sternum. In those instances, your knees are going to contxct the wall, which is annoying. Move it back about 2-3 feet away from wall.

All of this is assuming its properly lag crewed/bolted into the joists.

I'm a home builder and always wanted to set up a pulley room with the weights out of sight
So your pulldown would look like this with the cable running through the ceiling
The weight adjuster would have to be wireless and digital but then you can have a clean room lmaooooooo

Joists/rafters in standard domestic housing is NOT meant to support that kind of weight. Thats why many out of the box pull-up bars either attach to load bearing studs in the wall or doorframes.

I've got an anchor in the ceiling w resistance bands. It'd be even better to have a series of them along the wall to have different angles.
