What does /misc/ think of finasteride? My older brother started taking it and was able to stop his hair loss and regrow his hairline within 2 years.
I’m currently shedding and receding but it’s not noticeable to the average person yet, should I try and get on finasteride? It’s been confirmed that all celebs/politicans/models/athletes take it. Heck even trump does but I’m still a little worried

test goes out 3 ways. It gets either filtered out by the liver, converted to estrogen by your fat tissue or processed into other things, like DHT. DHT is the overall biggest pushback vs estrogen, from what I understand, it just doesn't stimulate muscle as much? Fin blocks some DHT production, which could lead to higher estrogen.
DHT and other testosterone metabolites can also have various functions on organs test itself does not have. One negative DHT influence is, I think, prostate growth, but there can be positive influences as well.
Shit gets complicated because individual humans can break down hormones bit differently, with different steps and intensities and variant pathways. Endocrynology at some point becomes a black box that we don't know what happens internally.

Thought on the scalp tension theory? Finasteride might work, but it doesn't explain nor deal with the underlying cause of MPB. Scalp tension explains it as a reduction in blood flow to the scalp resulting in excess DHT in the hair causing miniaturization. Microneedling and scalp pinching/stretching/massages help to alleviate this. However, this theory is loathed by the mainstream limiting research into it.
