It is possible. There are some substances that you can take that minimize the effect of exercise. Eg mega doses of vitamin C and vitamin E. If you happen to have an issue with too many antioxidants then your impact from exercise can be blunted too.
Like in everything there's a scale so maybe there's like 1/1000 chance of being a total "non-responder" in some area(altough article from 2002 cites 1 in 10), but that doesn't mean you're doomed to being unfit in every facet. That said this is mostly a cope for lazy people and being in the bottom 10th is still no reason not to improve.

OPs article since he's a gay and should be killed
I guess I'm one of those "non-responders"
Let me explain, I'm of appropriate weight for height.
I just can't get gains, normally even with increase protein intake, the best I could get was when I started suing whey protein and my gains were minimal at best.
Same with my brother, no gains until micro dose of /fraud/.
I guess it's genetics, both of our T levels are in the upper normal ranges too.
So this is just my opinion.
did you gain weight? if not you are probably still in a caloric deficit even though you might think you aren’t
either you burn more than you think or you it less than you think
food items have a +- 20. % accuracy for kcal on the packaging
if you gained weight and no muscles no strength you might be a weak responder yes
you could try a more hypotrophic approach in training instead of se might help
>did you gain weight?
When I'm not working out?
Yes
did I get gains?
Minimal, My overall body fat % went from 20% to 18%, but my weight hovered over the same weight when working out.
If I'm doing something wrong then I'm not sure what it is.
Cause Starting Strength is for strength and maybe some leg gains. You need to hit each muscle with 9 - 10 sets. Incline dumbell bench, flys, lateral raises, various tricep workouts etc.
Eat more and workout more, it should be biologically impossible for your body to not build muscle at some point, just because it’s harder doesn’t mean it’s impossible
You can trivially predict this based on certain conditions. But someone who is "normal" is very unlikely to be a non-responder and just needs to optimize what they can.
probably under 1%of the population
this will be used by every fatass in denial
also people are just moronic >i don’t it carbs in the evening anon but i still don’t really lose weight >well because it doesn’t fricking matter all you need to know is cico >yes but some people react good to no carbs in the evening so it still works
obviously not for you ignorant fatass
keep burning your will to try off with non sense solution
Because there isn't "the" routine. What matters is that you're lifting heavy in sensible volume for hypertrophy and perform exercises that hit your muscles well. Whether you do dumbbell flyes or cable flyes is a matter of personal preference and doesn't really matter in the end.
But I see plenty of people performing non-sensical meme exercises that indeed won't do much.
The non responder cope is only the first one, if and when these people stick to a decent program then they enter the "I don't want to get too big" cope, once they reach that stage they're primed for the next come, the "maybe you're bigger than me but you have shit form" cope, if they stick around and make gains after this they pull out the "anyone bigger than me is on steroids" cope
Sounds plausible. Anon is lifting and eating and lifting and eating, and beyond the inital noob gains, all it has gotten me is a bit of extra padding on my tummy - and an astronomic increase in grocery expenditures. ("It's called Sam Sulekmaxximg, mom!")
One anon made me aware that I need calories, not protein. I took his advice but didn't understand the mechanism at the time (carbs replenishing spent glycogen stores), so I've been living objectively more "unhealthy" focusing on simple cabs and trying to factor timing into account, i.e. downing a bottle of chocolate milk post-workout.
The negligible increase in muscle mass peaked in May after four months, though bf% keeps increasing. I weighed 45 kg in January and 47 kg today.
idk this might be me in terms of cardio. i had to join the military for one year and that adventure was completely physical from start 'til end. at the beginning i failed the 10km NATO test and at the end i still failed it by like 10 seconds.
increased by push-ups by 3x though, but my cardio is just fricked and i cant explain it
meanwhile this fricking guy, chain-smoking alcoholic in my squad, admitted to never having worked out before, demolished everyone's 10km time without even a competition. then went and got the gold medal for the military's iron man thing
i miss that fricker. one weekend we got to go home and we went to his sauna in his countryside place. he invited his gf over and his gf invites her bestie over. lost my virginity to that 8/10 hottie same night i met him, but i think he's still mad at me that i fricked her in his sauna and she left period stains on the wood rip
cope

Science is just cope for unhealthy people now
Lazy fatty/DYEL cope
It is possible. There are some substances that you can take that minimize the effect of exercise. Eg mega doses of vitamin C and vitamin E. If you happen to have an issue with too many antioxidants then your impact from exercise can be blunted too.
is muscle protein synthesis mediated by ROS signalling though, I wasn't able to find anything
bet it is though
The same reason why ice baths hinder muscle growth. Less inflammation, smaller muscle building response. Just time them right.
>Some guyys in an old-ass study = everyone
lol /fat/
Yes, stop coping fatty and actually weigh your food
Life is a brief cope between two eternities of seething
What a quote, gonna get it on my gravestone, maybe alongside a picture of a smug pepe and a pink wojack
you bring the pink wojak me being the frog

thank you anon

It’s not. it’s most likely you don’t:
>track what you eat
>program correctly
>lift consistently
you’re a fricking pussy. plain and simple. so is your brother.
Thanks, I followed SS program and tracked with cronometer.
What did I do wrong?
>I followed SS program and tracked with cronometer.
is this bait? you need volume in the gym and caloric excess. lift more and eat more
>lift more and eat more
Will do just to prove you wrong.
Godspeed anon
SS is fine for noobs, it's bottom heavy but it works
did you gain weight? if not you are probably still in a caloric deficit even though you might think you aren’t

You need volume, not 3x5 or whatever.
lol called it
>tracked with cronometer.
Damn, that shit's tight
Eat more and workout more, it should be biologically impossible for your body to not build muscle at some point, just because it’s harder doesn’t mean it’s impossible
I think it's 98% cope, 2% "oh yeah some people aren't going to have massive gains or have endurance anywhere close to an elite level"
You can trivially predict this based on certain conditions. But someone who is "normal" is very unlikely to be a non-responder and just needs to optimize what they can.
Same thing I think of most “concepts” I do not understand them and do not care to

cico is a meme just like keto and SS.
You will never make it if you listen to internet memes.
Unless youre fricking bedridden or have an unknown disease, then its just cope by fatties
>Defined as: No gains from powerlifting and keto
Sure, just do something else in that case.
All "non-responders" I've personally met, were eating not nearly enough, didn't meet recommended protein intake and had shitty routines taken from IG.
But all of them were absolutely convinced they did everything in their power and their genetics are just cursed.
There may be the rare genetic frickup, but 99% of them are just idiots who don't care to do it correctly.
>had shitty routines taken from IG.
No routine seems to reach consensus, so what are we supposed to do?
Because there isn't "the" routine. What matters is that you're lifting heavy in sensible volume for hypertrophy and perform exercises that hit your muscles well. Whether you do dumbbell flyes or cable flyes is a matter of personal preference and doesn't really matter in the end.

>I weighed 45 kg in January and 47 kg today.
Did your bf% incease from 3 to 4?
From 9 to 13. In the total absence of muscle mass, it looks closer to 20%.
I'm not fat I'm an exercise non responder.
idk this might be me in terms of cardio. i had to join the military for one year and that adventure was completely physical from start 'til end. at the beginning i failed the 10km NATO test and at the end i still failed it by like 10 seconds.
