i dont understand the advantage over just doing RDLs
They have the same effect but less weight of the good mornings leaves you less beat up systemically so you can recover better
And someone who has done both, good mornings definitely hit the upper back less, which may be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your split. If your training resembles a full body routine then RDLs are extremely useful because they blast several muscles with effective training volume and also give some free extra volume to a few other muscles.
I started rotating these in last week(I'm a dyel) and holy shit bros my legs felt wiped for like 4 days afterwords.

I just do kettlebell swings. Works the same shit. I lift heavy with squats and deads because I don't feel like I'm tearing my spine up.

RDLs. same shit while keeping the weight closer in, reducing strain on back.
Barbell lunges murdered all of those muscle groups for me just fine.
I do walking lunges while holding a plate to my chest and my god.
i usually do them instead of rdls when i'm feeling lazy after squats. goodmornings with a safetysquat bar are good too.

The glutes and hamstrings work synergystically during hinges, but due to the minimal knee bend, good mornings are more hamstring biased. Conv deadlifts become more glutes due to knee bend
