If you want to change your life.First you need to think about what you want to change, what you don't like and what you want. Then you make a plan to achieve said stuff.
I don't consider myself a failure or anything, and on the surface I'm doing alright - in shape, decent job, girlfriend. But I feel completely unable to.plan or change myself. It's like there's a block there and I don't even know how to plan. Like how to physically make a plan. Do you just wrote the goals down with steps? I realise how retarded this sounds btw kek
You could finding something that motivates you as a end goal. For me for example financial independence was one. I started my own crypto a while ago. Im not interested in the cryptomarked/community but still my project changed my way of live completely. Ha no problems doing stuff thats good for me like getting up early and do a walk on the beach, meditation, affirmations, working out and also had no interest in silly pleasures, timewasters and distractions. My focus was doing my project. And nothing else besides my gf. So:
-find big goal/achievement
-find easy/fast/realistic way to get there
-prepare everything, then start
>bro you gotta have a project and a focus >that's why I started scamming people instead of working hard and impregnating my gf >now I can walk on the beach and meditate, not getting distracted by silly pleasures
post Andrew Taint masculinity is such a fucking joke
>just be a wagecuck and work until you die like a rat bro >just find some random bitch at a young age and make babies with her bro, what could go wrong bro
Lmao worker drones are hilarious, have a (You)
>>now I can walk on the beach and meditate, not getting distracted by silly pleasures
ngl thats kinda all i want, I want to be left alone and to have a bunch of free time to do what I want to do. I'm never going to get married and have a kids, but I also don't want to be working 40 hours a week at a shit job I hate and have no interest in.
eliminate the things in your like that simulate the feeling of accomplishment that actually accomplish nothing (e.g. fapping / looking at porn / video games / etc.)
all of your feelings of self satisfaction should come from doing something difficulty, e.g. working out, finishing reading a book. this should change the way you look at things.
Honestly good advice, my dead father would say when I was a total mess, couldn’t find drive for shit. “Son, cry, mope, nothing will change, eventually you’ll get sick of feeling that way and you’ll do something about it.” No one is going to do it except you.
I can second this. I wanted to join an MMA gym in high school but was too scared to do so for a while.
Once I realized I had pushed back the date of joining to almost a year I got so humiliated in myself that I gave myself an ultimatum to either join or give it up.
Needless to say I ended up joining and was glad I can finally look in the mirror and not see a coward.
Go for a 30 minute walk everyday. Do that for 6 months. You'll be free from all us gays for 30 minutes, assuming you're not a phone poster, and you can use that time to think about what you want to actually do with yourself. 6 months is 180 days. That's 90 hours.
If you can't figure out what you want to do in 90 hours of accumulated self-reflection time, then nothing anyone here can say will help you help yourself.
lock yourself in a room for hours, go batshit insane and then write down how you will copy the story of an anime character, replicate it in real life with your own twist. for me its lupin the third. i gotta get a life as exciting as his.
Read Willpower by Roy Baumeister and The Power of Habits by Charles Duhigg. 2 of the most impactful books I've ever read. Sounds like you need to learn how to change yourself. And then, more importantly, apply what you learn to your own life.
take on responsibilities and then you will value your time more. the first thing you need is a job. it will teach you how much time something costs and what you dont want to be doing for the rest of your life. you need some pressure on you so jump into the river and learn to swim. then everything will come naturally. also im sure if you sit down for 10 mins without doing anything and actively think of what you want goals will start popping up
This, but missing an essential one: join a martial arts gym. Doesn't matter if it's boxing, muay thai, wrestling, whatever.
Not only will it build your confidence, but most martial arts have a focus on discipline and self-control which translates into other parts of your life. And it's a social arena where you meet other athletic guys. There is a good reason why most programs with troubled youth try to get them into martial arts
Of course you wont get along with everyone there. But if there are 30 guys there is probably at least 1 or 2 that you get along with good enough to hang out with
Have been doing all this except hunting my entire life,as well as

Don't have your phone on your person as much as possible. Just keep it on loud and away from you, mute all social media notifications (better yet delete all apps)
>Making goals
What does this mean? What are YOUR goals, anon?
Any time I come up with a "goal" it ends up being halted by me being poor as fuck. What goals besides things at the gym can you really accomplish without money?
Done all this shit and it helped until my late 20s. Now even with everything going objectively good I've never been closer to throwing it all away. Would become a fucking janitor of this website if it paid enough for the bills and some decent spending money.
Nothing you listed matters. Some people are just born with chemical imbalances in the brain that make them more depressed, or anxious than the average person.
Write down all the qualities and what the person you wish you could be does in one column, write down everything they don't do in the right column. There just do the things on the left and not the right.
this except thinking about it from another perspective. Not that I have nobody else to help me, but that *I* can help myself. If I approach a problem knowing that it CAN be solved, and just knowing that I can solve it if I work at it, it helps. Obviously if it's something I can't control then there's no use worrying. But shit like no job, grades, this and that, stuff that's under your control, that's when you can't just give up and let shit happen. It's doable, you just have to get cracking.
1. Get a job. Any job, doesn't matter if you like it or not.
2. Do a sport. One where you interact with other people is best.
3. Learn new things. Study about topics you like and practice them. It could be a new language or a new skill. Again, bonus if it's something you do with other people.
And there you go, now you have a direction in life.
Yeah #1 should be getting a job. The shittier, the better. Forces discipline, introduces the concept of money management, showcases just how bad the working lifestyle can be which promotes the want for education, and lastly it often forces people to work on their social skills (customers & teammates).
I would say the other primary one is exercise. Self discipline & easy noob gains are great for self esteem.
Once you start improving your life in these areas, it's hard to stop.
yes, a job is the biggest thing. Can't stress that enough, really. At a part time job lately I made a lot of money, I was actually doing something instead of sitting in front of the computer, and I met a lot of people and made friends. very much worth it.
Start with the absolute basics, like having a morning routine you actually stick to, then keep adding more productive habits without bloating your schedule too much. This alone will allow you to get more shit done throughout the day. Once you get all your chores done on time and according to schedule, then you can move on to more challenging things.
I cant believe this is what the generation of free thinking independent young men have taken for their saviourship: their dad telling them to clean their room
Most people these days can not even take care of their own body. Not just in terms of health, even personal hygiene is lacking. They have like 2 priorities, one is just about making sure they can survive, e.g. a shitty job, and the other is "having fun" one way or another, netflix, or video games or maybe they're not socially crippled but party a lot. Everything else, despite being just basic parts of life, like cleaning your house and your body, taking out the trash, paying your bills on time, it's all way down the list of priorities. If they took it the other way around and started making the small and basic but important things their priorities and mastering them they would probably also have more energy and motivation to actually seek success in life rather than just getting by.
Never read the book but what I got from the movie is that the way you (re)present yourself influences how people treat you. You can get away with more if you’re dressed nicely. Also dress for the job you want to have.
Low tier bait
All 4 clash with each other
Fight Club is stupidly edgy story about forcing yourself to hit rock bottom and try to recover from it + learning to not give a fuck
American Psycho is comedy. Sure, it criticizes how hedonistic and narcissistic modern society is, but if you don't take it as black comedy, then you're in for depression.
12 rules for life is beginner tier stuff, only decent one of all bundle.
Industrial Society and It's Future is bundle of perceptions with terrible solutions to execute, written by burned out prodigy
>smoke weed >watch a lot of porn >work out (once every while though make sure to do wayyy too heavy sets that dont really do anything for you) >work a min wage entry level job >make sure u spend your time mostly on social media
I think that physical vitality is a pre-requisite so you know, eat healthy, exercise, get enough sunlight and fresh air, do all of those things you need to do to be physically functional.
After that, life is basically about finding something to do with it. So do the thing you want to do with your life, and if you don’t know what that is then your task is obviously to figure it out by thinking about it and trying things. Find your vocation, which can be a profession but is not the same thing as a profession.
1: read every day. If you don't already start small and work your way up until you are reading a book or two every week. Use the library to save money. Read How To Win Friends and Influence People and Atomic Habbits if you haven't already
2: Keep your home/room clean. Imagine a hot chick were to visit your place right now. Would you feel embarrassed by all the crap laying around and all the grime on everything? If so get cleaning.
3: Learn to cook. You don't need to be a gourmet chef, just read Salt Fat Acid and Heat and buy a copy of The Joy of Cooking. It is a fun hobby that will save you lots of money, make you healthier and generally will make you more independent.
4: Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. Also, make sure you get 8 hours. You won't realize how much your sleep habits are fucking with your life until you fix then. Once your sleep schedule is fixed, ween yourself off of caffeine
5: Sell your car and buy a bycicle instead. Cars cost a ton of money and cause a lot of stress. If you live in a place where you need a car, move. Being without a car will force you to exercize more, be around people more, and spend more time outside. People say a car is freedom but honestly I found that my life became much more spontaneous and once I ditched mine
>1: read every day.
To this I would add, write every day. if you record anything of note at the end of the day, write down things you need to go, plans, etc. it can be very helpful and it keeps you thinking about things so they don't slip your mind.
>Imagine a hot chick were to visit your place right now
I like to try to keep my place clean as if I were having someone over any minute.
> If you live in a place where you need a car, move.
this is pretty terrible advice. I don't see how my car causes stress, if anything it removes stress. I don't have to work around a bus schedule or worry about calling a cab and paying for a ride. If I want to go somewhere I just get in my car and go.
In fact it lets me be more spontaneous. Without my car I would have to plan out my trip to school in the morning. the bus doesn't run late, so I would need to cut my day on campus short and come home before the bus stops running. I also need to carefully plan what to bring in my backpack, and if I want to go anywhere else during the day, I need to figure it out within the bus schedule. (because I am not going to spend $40 in one day on cabs or rideshare services.
With my car, I drive to school when I want, and I leave when I want. I have a change of clothes in the trunk if I need it, plus a gym bag with running shoes and boxing gloves and toiletries, so I can take a shower on campus. If I want to go to the beach 10 miles away I can just walk to my car and be at the beach in half an hour and it may have cost me less than a dollar in gas.
Sometimes I have just decided to go somewhere on a free weekend on the spur of the moment. I can be in the mountains in four hours at any time, if I want to. Maybe this advice works if you're european.
kek. I can see how not having one is freeing in the same way just not having belongings in general is "freeing", but in our society in this day and age I firmly believe people should have tools and material in their name, you know? Tangible assets. It's better than a few powerful people owning everything.
With my car I can be across the country in a couple days. With my car, I packed up practically all my shit and drove a thousand miles last year to move. not having one might work for limpwrists, but come on now.

Ironic considering your solution is to check all your belongings onto the plane instead of hiring a mover.

that's legitimately an even worse solution. hiring movers is economical for smaller distances, but hiring movers to go across the country? are you serious? have you ever done a large move before?
Anonymous
It's not that expensive if you don't have that much stuff, which I'm assuming was the case with the guy who used his own car to move all his stuff. But if you're trying to move mattresses and sofas and shit you're gonna need to hire a mover no matter what so it doesn't really matter whether or not you have a car.

Nta but I live in the country and I couldn't live out here without a car.
Also I have two tractors that allow me to do shit that would be basically impossible if I didn't have them. Same with the truck. You really expect me to believe I'd be better off living in a shoe box apartment and riding a bicycle to some office everyday instead of living out here and having tools to do everything myself lol. It is actually insane and I honestly think city dwellers are the most useless golems on the planet to be against these things. I mean look at how inhuman their lives are... and we are supposed to take these people's advice about what is freedom or what is good for people lol. Insane.
>1: read every day. If you don't already start small and work your way up until you are reading a book or two every week. Use the library to save money.
Hell y-... >self-help garbage
Nevermind.
Set aside time every day to do nothing. And I don't mean like in an R&R type of way, like "scheduling breaks" or "taking time to have fun". I mean just sit somewhere, by yourself, and do literally nothing. Stare at a fucking wall, wander your eyes around at everything and nothing in particular, zone out. Let thoughts come and go like they're not all that important, because you're doing fucking nothing and nothing is what you're doing. Sit like this until it feels like you could sit there forever, and then stay there until you come up with a good enough reason to get up and do something else.
Until you learn to live as an affirmative choice over simply sitting down and waiting until you die, you will always be a monkey pulling levers for treats.
Identify things around you that give you bad vibes. For example: >that treadmill with coats hanging on it that reminds you of wasted money and not using it >the dirt dog bowl you always refill but never clean >the splatters behind the kitchen sink >the stack of mail that you swear you're gonna sort through yet somehow it keeps growing >the dust on the ceiling fan >that candy bar wrapper you see behind the couch everytime you pass but it's like 3 feet out of casual reach so you don't pick up >clutter. holy shit the clutter. so much stuff you haven't used or enjoyed in 5 years but don't want to throw away because it's a waste
Find them and destroy them, and I'll tell you why. It's a compound effect. Everytime you see something that isn't lifting your mood, it's bringing it down. The cumulative effect of 100 things in your surroundings all bringing down your mood just a tiny bit is enormous. It nukes your motivation and discipline.
Every day, make it a goal to spend 15 minutes patrolling your dwelling with no objective. Just go stand in the middle of a room, and look around for anything you don't find pleasing. Fix it, throw it away, clean, do whatever you have to so that you're not reminded of it 5 times a day.
>It nukes your motivation and discipline.
I need to move house, this is exactly me. Theres so much I hate about living here that the challenge to fix it all is just too big to grasp. I need a fresh start, I need a place that doesnt consume all my time so that I can focus on doing things that I enjoy.
Wish I had the answer for that. Sometimes I feel like I was just born broken for this world.
I've been browsing imageboards since 18yo, I'm 25 now, I remember making threads like these and asking oldfag anons for advice, they gave me great wisdom and told me about their life experiences/tips, but in the end did I listen to it? Fuck no, I was an immature dumb fuck, still is.
I'm still lost in life even though it's slightly better than when I was younger, lifting, eating better, sleeping better only really worked for a few months then I went back to being a depressed fuck again, my old addictions, the ghosts of my past caught up to me, videogames, eating like shit, not sleeping long enough, still lifting everyday but not as pumped compared to when I started.
I really had energy and happiness for a small period of time and it was great, it's never been easy for me (poor, single mom, 3rd world country, toxic family) i hope to one day be able to overcome my mind.
opposite backgrounds yet I still feel the same way. no idea what i'm really doing with my life and whenever I get to thinking about what I want to do or could do I realize I've never known and probably won't ever know.
Eating healthy, working out, reading and simply thinking are universally good advices, but they can only get you to some point. Fact is, people browsing this site are broken in some way or another. I don't mean it in being a twitteroid victim complex or redditor galaxy brain individual. You see two normies, both act similiar, but through one of them goes infinite invisible bullets and he hopes that one of them will finally appear to be real while other one thinks about what movie he will watch tonight with his girlfriend.
You have to find out which one of them are you
>Eating healthy, working out, reading and simply thinking are universally good advices, but they can only get you to some point. Fact is, people browsing this site are broken in some way
Can confirm. Ran three years of collegiate track and qualified for the Olympic Trials. I hit every compeition and physique milestone I wanted, and I still felt fucking miserable waking up every morning. It wasn't even depression; there's something fundementally wrong with the way I'm wired where I can't enjoy "normie" things. No amount of self-improvement was going to make me feel happy because normality isn't what makes me happy.
I just spend most of my days studying math and doing wharehouse work. Maybe twice I year I hookup with some schizo or autistic chick off tinder. It feels better than trying to indulge myself in brunch with normal friends.
I have literally never met anyone who shares my interests in 24 years of life, except my music history professor and the (now dead) head librarian in my hometown. I have to put on a mask just to have acquaintances. I hate people.
Fuck off gay, i've been to ten times more hobby groups and done more shit than you. You just got lucky and are acting all faggy about it. Bitch. You think i want to be a friendless khhv? Bitch.

Legitimately what is wrong with this? How else are you supposed to meet friends after graduating college? When you go to the bar you will just encounter vapid people. Same with parties (but let’s not kid ourselves, anyone actively reading this thread isn’t getting invited to one).

Bro I have a long term gf and I see women at all three of those places constantly I would see about if I were single tbqh. There are some skanks at the bar but not 100%, and I see plenty options at church. The number one place is probably work though. Or just general retail. Like if you ever go to a pharmacy or bank there are always college aged women working there. Just examples.

...groups where people who share the same hobby go? Book clubs, choirs, chess clubs, amateur theatre, shit like that. As opposed to actual classes where you pay to get taught something by someone, these you will find on bulletin boards of libraries or community centres, like "if you like to read, come join us on the second saturday of every month in the library". They are exclusively frequented by boomer men, old women and ME. All the young women go to regimented paid classes with their boyfriends/fiancees/husbands, never alone (at least i've never had the opportunity to meet a young woman in any of my clubs/classes).

I don't even believe this exists outside of university. In university they also tend to be kind of insincere and surface level. Not good for autist.
One thing people here don't seem to get is that you don't have to have the same interests as other people in order to be friends or acquaintances with them, let alone to just get along with them.
Thats not true, you just think you're better than the people you encounter who share your interests and they don't 'appreciate them like you do'.
Might sound cliche, but mostly its just your projection and self-hate. You might feel embarassed or similar of your own interests and general self-perception, so when you see people who are similar all you see is yourself.
Also self-aggression is pretty much 90% of what depression is.
You're 'misunderstood' because you don't reveal your true elements of self to others because you're either coping or are aware of how cringe you find yourself, but its one thing to think, suppress and avoid it but another thing truly to bring it out into the world and actually make it 'real'. You can't deny reality, can you? You're probably such a realist after all and can see the true nature of things around you better than all the normalgays.
exercising regularly is a really, really, REALLY good place to start
college degree is also a must if you are not suffering from conditions that make it extremely challenging
They’re sleeping with the head end of the bed raised roughly six inches. It’s mainly supposed to improve whole body circulation but there’s a lot of easy benefits that come from that
I’ve never understood why people get so lost with this type of thing. My brother struggles with it, and I don’t know why.
I think it’s very simple. First ask yourself what it is you want in life. What do you want your life to look like in 10 years? Waking up to your dream career, in a nice house in a safe neighborhood? Getting in your dream car to go to work every morning? A life that involves only a few hours of work a day and making money passively while you enjoy your free time and hobbies? Figure out what sounds ideal to you and what you truly want. Then figure out the steps you need to take to get there. You need an education/certification? Ok, figure out how to get that and how long it will take. Need to figure out how to start a business? Ok, YouTube and internet exist.
I don’t get how people can just take life day by day with no direction. I’ve never understood that mindset. I’m not saying every minute of everyday you need to be on the grindset, but I can’t recall a single day in my life where my future and my goals weren’t on my mind at least a few times. I can’t imagine a life of just looking at people better off than you with envy but having no motivation or drive to take action for yourself.
>First ask yourself what it is you want in life.
That's where a lot of people get lost. I have a better idea now than I did 10 years ago, but I still can't give a solid answer to this. It's so open ended that there seems to be no answer.
Don’t get me wrong, what I want now is completely different than 10 years ago. I wanted to be a Marine years ago, after I did that for 4 years my plans changed, then they changed again, and now I’m a Barber and can honestly say I’m living my best life. plans change, but what I’ve gained from doing all the things I did previously is invaluable and helped me get to where I am now. You can’t just sit on your hands and wait for the answer to come to you just because you might have a change of heart years down the road. A lot of times, the experiences you have from chasing one dream might help you realize what you want to do.
Basically, life is a journey. An endless road that looks different for everyone. But you have to get up and move in order to find what life has in store for you
You and him are gays for thinking that people much smarter than the both of you have never contemplated that question before. No shit you have to think about what you want in life. That's not some fucking revelation.
Being social and having friends. This is the single most important thing to change your life. All the other bullshit in this thread pales in comparison.

Have a long term goals and plan to accomplish it step by step. Then organize your weekly planner. I don't care if it's the calendar on your phone or a physical calendar on your wall but fucking write the things out you need to get done and keep doing it. Quitting the internet, if you can do it is almost guaranteed to get someone out of inceldom.
If you can focus on that, and then fill your time with some of the recommendations other people have posted in here that you like, the dopamine hits you get from doing productive activities will go way up and you'll have greater drive to actually go out there and do whatever it is that you stress over not having.
If the internet shut down for good today, the amount of incels, depressed/anxious people would be at least cut in half within a year.
A young man can't be lost, as he has not had the time to find his way yet. Just look inside, find something that you like/are good at doing, focus on that thing, work in that field. Everything else in life is just extra. Money is the base for a happy life. Don't be a dick though.
Just in case nobody has mentioned this, language learning. The can remember the first time I was able to read the tortoise and the hare in Japanese and it was the best feeling in the fucking world.
Imagine a world in which you toil physically from sun up to sun down but you entire inner world and outlook is already coherent and reinforced for you. This applies from your meaning for existence to meeting a wife and having children to the certainty if your own death. It's non negotiable and was assured before you were born, and that's ok. Now, Imagine a world with the same physical realities of labor exploitation and mortality, bit you get to play Stardew Valley for 8 hours a day.
OP let me tell you something as a young man who was lost in life and is now 31 years old and as lost as ever, with no accomplishments, probably as miserable as a human being can possibly be, and as close to suicide as I have ever been.
The only habit you need to focus on is being social.
You need to make friends and do social activities that can lead to making more friends and/or meeting someone to be in a relationship. This is all that matters in life. You can have your fitness, your career, your money, your tangible material goods. But if you don't have friends or social relationships, none of it will matter. You will still be miserable.
You can say "why should I take advice from a complete loser, what does he know?". Well I don't know much about life, but what I do know is that you will almost never find anyone who has no friends or relationships who is happy even if they have everything else in life. And it is quite common to find people who are lacking in parts of their life, but if they have friends, relationships, family, they will still be decently happy.
So all I have for you is to be a social person. It's too late for me and I already ruined my entire life, went through all the best years with zero memories to reflect on.
Regardless of the accomplishments the idea is correct, social relationships are the most important thing. You can "change" everything else all you want, but without those life is meaningless.
this, in the end if you doomer yourself all the time you will end up what you think or feel you are. Its never too late to change, its never too late to get more positive or healthier thinking patterns, either. Phoenixes rise from the ashes of their former selves, be like the Phoenix and burn down your past self to arise anew!
Based on my personal experience so far, there are some core "aims" you need to have in your life: >1. having a decent job
by decent I mean doing work that is, at the very least, non-stressful, tolerable, and pays enough to have a decent life. this is much harder than you think: in my experience, the blue collar/retail/15 an hour wagie life SUCKS. money isn't everything but being poor is fucking horrible and affects every single part of your life in a negative way. if there's one thing worth investing in, it's yourself to achieve financial stability. have to go back to college? have to go to grad school? have to grind out tedious tasks? remember how fucking miserable it is to work outside in the 10F cold in manual labor, or sit a desk for 10 an hour, or run around on your feet serving food. not only is the work shit, but you can't save any money, or take vacations, or invest in better lifestyle choices. having a low-paying, stressful job is fucking miserable. >2. have a good relationship with your family, gf, and friends
it doesn't really matter how many close relationships you have, but you really need to have some in your life. ideally at least 1 close family member, 1 close friend, and your gf at the minimum. having a social group at work or through an activity is a big bonus but not always a given. life really sucks when you're alone and don't have anyone to talk to or do things with or share things with. if you have to choose between something where you leave your family/friends/relationship vs. having the chance to stay close to people you appreciate - CHOOSE YOUR RELATIONSHIPS >3. consistent habits of sound body/mind
by these I mean living in a clean, orderly environment, having healthy food sleep etc habits, actively doing things you like (rec sports, taking walks, good films, etc). a big part of this is the continued desire to set more goals (things you want to try, addressing things you're unhappy with, etc.), try new things, and never stop learning.
now for the "habits" part" >consistent visualization and explicit goal setting
you need to have a to-do list everyday. both short-term and long-term stuff (long-term as in months). write down explicitly what you want your life to look like
Don’t get me wrong, what I want now is completely different than 10 years ago.
But you have to get up and move in order to find what life has in store for you
I’ve never understood why people get so lost with this type of thing.
I can’t imagine a life of just looking at people better off than you with envy but having no motivation or drive to take action for yourself.
both of these posts are really good advice about how you don't need to have a "perfect" visualization of where you want to be because not only will what you want change, but you have no idea where you'll be in 10 years at all. act on what you think is a good life now - the above posts say it better than I ever could. at the very least, think about a better situation than you are in right now and visualize that in detail and write it down. how are you going to make goals to get to that visualization? >setting micro-goals to fight procrastination
procrastination is actually fear, biologically, primarily fear of the unknown. if you break a task down exhaustively into mini-steps, it becomes a lot less intimidating and terrifying. break your visualization goals down into many, many minigoals and take action today. if you are genuinely trying steps towards your goals, there is no such thing as failure, only learning. the only true failure is doing nothing at all. I can't stress this enough >FUCKING. DO. SOMETHING.
anything! fucking start taking steps TODAY. break down your image into these goals and mini goals and get fucking going. yes, it's hard, yes it can take a lot of steps. >long-term view
life is a marathon, not a race. your goals will change, you will change, hopefully you'll meet people who make your life exciting. work on improving it but try to take time to appreciate the little things you have right now. can't afford a euro vacation for a month? well, can you take a road trip to long-weekend camp in the woods? do the things you can still enjoy and love NOW will still working every day to make your situation better, step by step. and remember,
What do you do if there's nothing you actually genuinely feel motivated by, enough to want to do? I've never been able to envision myself in a any working environment for example partly due to severe social inability but also equally because I've never had a inkling or real interest towards any kind of career, I've never seen someone doing something and felt like I wanted to do it. I just feel like all I'm going end up doing is sleep walk into doing unfulfilling bullshit where the expectation is so long as it's earning you decent money, that that should ultimately make it worthwhile?
Then there's the fact that I'm not someone who's ever been particularly motivated by status, money or material possession. Like yeah I'll indulge and like to buy cool shit sometimes and while I really can't imagine living conditions 10 times the quality of my current arrangement(parents) the general idea of the standard progression of adult life of acquiring wealth, increasing standard of living and consumerism, etc seems to be juxtaposed with endless responsibility, bills, obligations, maintenance, competition, societal pressures and psyops but also loneliness and a sense of biological failure in my case because woman don't date socially inept failures. I find it a little understand why this is supposed to be the best thing ever?
Is the general consensus that shit just somehow magically all falls into place for people once you get anything in motion going really just a code word for "over time your obligation to the grind more or less locks into the journey which in of itself is the real destination and you'll be happy if you're one of the lucky ones"? Or is it something that can actually apply to someone like me? I just honestly do not understand how to be motivated and what you're supposed to be motivated by to be able to fully engage with life and I want to.
Really I think working towards something is a skill you need to learn. Honestly just pick something to work towards. Doesn’t have to be anything big. Volunteer somewhere that might seem relatively interesting to you (environment or museum related, do NOT go help out some asylum centre or something) and just work towards something bigger. Once you sort of get into the rhythm of that the rest comes sorta naturally
Alright done, even though I don't have a resume because there wouldn't be anything to put on it I went and applied for a job in the vein of volunteer work, I need money but helping vulnerable people in the community is something I think is good too. I most likely won't get it but if you or anyone here knows how to apply for every single job on every single website on the internet at once then let me know because it'll save me a lot of time.
regardless of motivation, everyone is forced to act. inaction is also a choice, and rarely better than action. being able to be an independent actor and creating life on your own is superior to being dependent on somebody else for your sustenance. you don't have to chase material status, but you have to do something. and i can guarantee that there are some things you are naturally inclined to do, but you probably have stunted your emotions and personal growth by feeding yourself a false narrative that you can't achieve anything, or dulling your senses my mindless media consumption. with internet and access to the software tools we have to do there is no barriers for anyone in the first world to become an entrepreneur, and i guarantee that you can find a partner somewhere in the world who would love to be with you if you can grow up
The idea that Work is supposed to be something that fills you with passion an interest is a meme pushed by people who want you to be easier to bargain with, because you think that Work is compensation in itself and something is wrong with YOU if your day-to-day in a given environment is misery.
You're confused because you're spinning in circles chasing a pleasure that doesn't actually exist except in the rarest and most obsessed people. The solution is to adjust your expectations and stop beating yourself up as if something is wrong with you for not getting jazzed up about menial tasks.
A Sam Hyde video actually kinda helped me out about this, you won't always have motivation to get something done so the best you can do is just force yourself to sit down and do it, the first 10 minutes of so is usually hard but once you get started on something you "loss prevention" will kick in and you can sit there for a while doing it. By doing the thing you have no motivation to do it will ironically give you motivation to finish it or progress on it to the point where if you do have to stop and pick it up tomorrow, you might be more motivated to finish it. Also not being able to do something because of a "lack of motivation" can cut 2 ways: either you've dopamined the fuck you of your brain on video games and/or cooming that the ambient dopamine in your brain isn't enough to motivate you doing these things or you are letting your emotions reign over you. Both are hard to fix and it might take a while to even realize which one it is but if its just you being emotional, find ways like meditating or journaling to sort out your emotions and regain control over them and if its dopamine start limiting video games, movies, tv shows, porn, or w/e it is your doing and do less of it.
Remember its always harder starting than stopping and once you are doing it, it becomes easier to do.
Nothing i said was a platitude. Feel free to look up the definition then have a nice day. Thanks.

>when you don't and anything
when you don't say anything
The fact that he "despises" the people who need to hear what he's saying is most of the reason it's good advice. He doesn't blow smoke up asses, he says rude things like, >Stop looking for a woman who aligns with you completely. You know who's going to align with you completely? A man. With asperger's.
and it's brutal and true.
Wrong. It's defeatist shit that is used by someone as low as him to justify his own actions and life. Yes you don't need to be 100% compatible but to think 2 opposites in terms of srs subjects will last is retarded. >I'm into polygamy >I'm not >gosh golly gee, folks! How do you think this relationship turns out!?
I think the example is to illustrate that you can take two people from the same background and culture the chances they will agree on everything will be slim. What he is saying is simply you need to find out what your willing to compromise on and what at the core you value. But he is just saying it in a blunt, pithy, and comical (which is subjective) way.

Yeah this is just reaching senpai. That's not the idea he put out there, and there's nothing defeatist about giving young clueless nerds advice like "Don't be a terminally-online weirdo who warps his mind with discord servers" or "Don't hold out for a girl who shares 100% of your niche interests" or "Don't let debt-collectors bully you, you can make a deal".
I'm not sure why you hate a relatively obscure internet comedian enough to do that kind of reaching while arguing about him, but alright.

Cut the shit. You'll defend your e-daddy until death. Why don't I like him? Because he's not funny and gays like you expect me to worship him as Jesus Christ because he said moron and garden gnome. And that's not getting into his past which goes far past "making a few mistakes"
To expand on this, my girlfriend and I are opposite in every way in terms of interests. She likes boring women novels from the 1800s and decorating dollhouses and watching weird new streaming shit. She likes oldie/vintage music and while I do too its not my preference. But we both want kids, want to be homeowners, want to be financially stable before considering anything like marriage, etc. She makes more than me so I'm not really concerned about that prospect.
Again, you agree on serious subjects. Sounds to me like your marriage is more a business partnership than actually being with someone you like.

if you know anything about people, religion, or philosophy you would know that while we "know" simple truths we rarely keep them in mind, its why repetition in religion and philosophy is a thing. Because we don't keep these simple truths in mind all the time. Its not that people "don't know simple things" as much as it is people fail to keep them in mind.

You need to have the same values, not necessarily the same interests or beliefs. Polygamy is inherently reflective of whether one values monogamy.

I'd tell my friends that life is meaningless and if you don't have a nice day after figuring that out then you have to just suffer and cope unless you get lucky.
what's always the best about these threads is that you're all self deluding. "hurr durr you gotta do something with your life!" this is copium generated to make yourself feel better about the fact you're gonna die and not be a concious thing anymore some day. "hurr durr i wish i wasn't so unmotivated it makes me SAD." fucking WHY? don't be such a bitch boy and embrace that you were born in a time that you CAN be a lazy shit. that's the culmination of hundreds of years of human toil.

>work >gym >tv >sleep >repeat
such is life
this is gonna sound lame as fuck but I 100% believe you can be your own friend solely based on how you talk to yourself and take care of yourself. Like it or not your body and your mind are 2 different things, and your mind... fuck... your mind is a fractal of different wants, needs, personalities, and w/e other unconscious stuff that floats around that we aren't aware of unless we take the time to be bored and sit with ourselves, which literally no one wants to do. But if you do do it you'll get what I mean.
>your mind... fuck... your mind is a fractal of different wants, needs, personalities, and w/e other unconscious stuff that floats around that we aren't aware of unless we take the time to be bored and sit with ourselves
You ever have something that worked perfectly but baffled you so you took it apart and couldn't get it back together again?
That's how your mind is. You aren't going to "exceed yourself" or learn anything etc. you're just going to mindfuck yourself yourself Modern you really will never heal from it.. Modern psychology is so fucking dangerous for this reason.
Intuition and instinct is low brow, it doesn't make you feel intellectual, but it is the way we were meant to be. Your mind is just you, it's who you are- don't question it. Don't dissect it. Ideally you should be perfectly at home with it BECAUSE IT'S WHO YOU FUCKING ARE. It's what you are. And you are trying to go to a place that you have no business questioning. Maybe one day when we die we will get to exceed what we are... but for now we have a very particular existence and the best mind is the one that is most effortlessly comfortable with what it is.
Iunno man i've been journaling for a while and its been the inverse, I understand myself better than ever but there are dark memories and thoughts that do come up if you do it and if you aren't prepared for it, it will knock you on your ass. That being said it isn't the only way to get to the same goal, that's the beauty of life.
>you're just going to mindfuck yourself yourself Modern you really will never heal from it.. Modern psychology is so fucking dangerous for this reason.
except the Ancient Greeks, Ancient Romans, Taoists, Buddhists all said virtually the same thing in one way or another. Buddhism to this day separates an individual into 3 elements: heart (soul), body, and mind.
I swear yall are gonna figure out for real when you come upon the hard rock. It's so sad to see people trying to live outside of themselves and destroying what they are in the process. Like Icarus or something basically.
It's all fun and interesting when you are having coffee table conversation, when you are "journaling" etc. (Honestly idk what the fuck having a journal even has to do with the futile and unnatural analytical dissection of the mind). But when when the rain comes down, when the floods come, and the wind blows... you might find you dissected away everything that made you you.
You can talk about the Greeks Buddhists, whatever but you see that fish swimming in the stream or that Jake out there gobbling? Does he sit around with cobwebs on his ass- spinning his wheels dissecting his own mind- mindfucking himself? No, he just is what he is. Now animals are alot more stupid than us I know but in this regard we could learn a thing or two. Dissect the world, there's so much there, don't try to dissect your mind and what you are. You can disagree- I don't see it as an argument it is just a genuine warning to you.
>It's so sad to see people trying to live outside of themselves and destroying what they are in the process.
exploring your "inner world" or sitting somewhere an journaling is something outside of yourself? First time I've ever heard someone claim that.

The interior life is what 99% of spirituality and religion is. You know, the things that have provided relief, purpose, strength and happiness for most people since the dawn of man.
>Now animals are alot more stupid than us I know
This is exactly why these Ancient people said we should spend part of our day journaling, reflecting, thinking... because as far as we know it is our ability to think and reason that separates us from animals and to not do so as a human being is to turn your back on basically everything that you are, according to them.
If your mind (aka you) is like an unmapped jungle to explore... then explain to me exactly just *who* the fuck is doing the exploring?

its a metaphor for just knowing yourself better or at least maybe cleaning out the cobwebs of things you haven't fully addressed in your mind yet.
>journaling, reflecting, thinking
Lol these things don't necessarily have anything to do with the unnatural analytical dissection of the human mind which is a staple of modern psychology and the subject of this discussion.
You're not popping the hood of a car you're squeezing all the toothpaste out of a tube and its not gonna go back in.
>unnatural analytical dissection
None of them say its unnatural as far as I know, divine maybe, but not unnatural. That being said they all do at least say that, on some level, you should sit down and work some stuff out whether that be yourself, problems you have, or road maps to goals. We have the ability to rationalize so we should use that to give our lives trajectory.

I disagree. You should be able to honestly sit down and analyze your decisions, things that happen in life, the natural world, etc etc. but it is a fool's errand to sit and around and dissect your mind analytically. Once you start trying to reduce your mind down to ids and egos- neural networks, impulses, you end up dissecting it away. And that mysterious incomprehensible thing we call the mind is actually just YOU.
I got no problem with a thinker, a contemplative person etc. but you are a human with a human mind. Just be what you are- that should come completely natural to you and once you try to dissect it all too much you lose that naturalness and you end up like a shell of what you should be. Like a third party observer to your mind.. No intuition, no instinct, for example you end up finding yourself having to remind yourself when you are happy or sad etc.
The interior life is what 99% of spirituality and religion is. You know, the things that have provided relief, purpose, strength and happiness for most people since the dawn of man.

The snowball effect from just reading some of the death of Socrates/The Republic into your every day life is wild. Socrates just spits str8 fucking fax and really makes you think but unironically
Homer's The Odyssey is why I started lifting lol, fuck the Greeks were the shit.
Trying to get into Kant and more analytical philosophy but I'm way too stupid I think. The Critique of Pure Reason is so above my head.
Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics is a simplified version of his Critique of Pure Reason, though I don't think it's worthwhile to study Kant deeply. If you want to /into/ metaphysics in general I'd recommend Being and Some Philosophers by Etienne Gilson.
I bought Prolegomena a while ago, have been meaning to give it a read before I try tackling The Critique again.
Like I said, I'm a brainlet and have only just gotten past the Greeks, but my understanding is that Kant revolutionized Philosophy and Transcendental Realism is the first real bit of philosophy that wasn't just a footnote to the greeks, that's my main reason for wanting to /into/ Kant. Metaphysics is interesting in general, but the way he presents it seems extremely unique and insightful.
I don't see Kant's philosophy as being particularly novel - it was essentially a continuation of Crusius' response to Leibniz and Wolff in an immediate sense, and on a longer timeline to Greek Pyrrhonism after its (re)introduction to Europe during the Renaissance. This isn't to say that Kant isn't worth understanding, but that I feel your time would be better spent elsewhere than reading his Critiques.
I read the Odyssey, but what does it have to do with lifting? You would think the Iliad would be the better motivator since Achilles was basically a super hero
Odysseus was the masculine ideal. He was strong, a great fighter, was smart as hell trickster and fucked Gods.
There is also the one character I can't remember the name of, but he was a BIGGUY that ate goat whey. It was very inspiring for me, not so much because he lifted but because I want to be the ideal man. Today that can be achieved via lifting/martial arts.
Jordan Peterson is a fag, but the one good piece of advice he has and the one reason he ever got any credibility at all, was the careful management of leveraging low motivation with the dopamine release of doing what they could actually be motivated to do to further spur them on. Cleaning your shit up and getting it together feels genuinely good and releases good shit in your brain, by starting as small as you can feasibly manage and just moving some fucking trash to the garbage and plates to the sink you find the motivation to start doing more begins to develop. Optimally discipline comes along the way.
here is a hard fact of life that sucks: you change your habits and behaviour by thinking about it and making a logical argument in your mind, but by actually doing it at the moment and will-powering through it slowly. >Have a goal and figure the steps you can take to achieve it
have something concrete to work towards, maybe like a dream job, a mission, or even a dream of having a good family life, and figure out the steps that it takes to get that goal in the most realistic and detailed way you can make them, then slowly start working towards that goal. >small incremental steps that you know are good
unironically, clean your room, exercise, sleep more, eating better foods, drink more water, read more, learn some skills that interest you, go do something in the community and meet with others (church, volunteering, work), etc. >stop doing things that you know for sure are bad for you.
drink less alcohol, smoke less ciggs, take less drugs, eat less processed junk, stop spending so much time online that it interferes with sleep, stop jacking off so much, etc.
dont focus too much on doing everything optimally like immediately starting a 6 day a week exercise program and stopping your smoking habit cold turkey, just take smaller and smaller steps towards whatever you think is objectively "better".

how do I set goals if I'm not ambitious and very cowardly?
stop overthinking kid
here's a goal for today "go to the gym for an hour"
That’s not a goal, that’s a task
The accomplishment of any goal requires the completion of several, often countless, tasks
no one asked
You're stupidly fixating on semantics instead of just fucking doing it.
All goals are tasks you fucking moron
Jeez, get a fucking job
>bro you gotta have a project and a focus
>that's why I started scamming people instead of working hard and impregnating my gf
>now I can walk on the beach and meditate, not getting distracted by silly pleasures
post Andrew Taint masculinity is such a fucking joke
>just be a wagecuck and work until you die like a rat bro
>just find some random bitch at a young age and make babies with her bro, what could go wrong bro
Lmao worker drones are hilarious, have a (You)
>>now I can walk on the beach and meditate, not getting distracted by silly pleasures
ngl thats kinda all i want, I want to be left alone and to have a bunch of free time to do what I want to do. I'm never going to get married and have a kids, but I also don't want to be working 40 hours a week at a shit job I hate and have no interest in.
eliminate the things in your like that simulate the feeling of accomplishment that actually accomplish nothing (e.g. fapping / looking at porn / video games / etc.)
all of your feelings of self satisfaction should come from doing something difficulty, e.g. working out, finishing reading a book. this should change the way you look at things.
just wallow in it for a while, I think you will find that there is a limit to how much self pity and inaction a man can take
Yeah but animals roll around in it and invent the redpill and other similarly depraved garbage
Over a decade and counting over here. The limit is basically from childhood until death.
5 years in, there is no limit.
I also learned that suffering can be completely purposeless and have no higher meaning or moral at all. Just pointless suffering.
Make your first goal setting an ambitious goal.
Small goals firs
Find a nearby trail and walk for 6 hours on your next non-working day. Be alone with your thoughts and something will come of it.
Cowards don't tend to admit they're cowards
>t. coward
sets of goals x failure until you realize it's the failures that make you stronger in life. smooth sailing from there.
Easy.
Your very first step is to stop thinking of yourself that way
From there, everything else follows
lock yourself in a room for hours, go batshit insane and then write down how you will copy the story of an anime character, replicate it in real life with your own twist. for me its lupin the third. i gotta get a life as exciting as his.
Start small.
>That’s not a goal, that’s a task
Exactly. If you can't set a goal, a small task is a good start.
Putting aside that it's all semantics anyway...
There is a good reason why most programs with troubled youth try to get them into martial arts
depends on the person or the gym, i met some guys who go to MMA gyms and they are psychos
Of course you wont get along with everyone there. But if there are 30 guys there is probably at least 1 or 2 that you get along with good enough to hang out with

>Making goals
What does this mean? What are YOUR goals, anon?
Any time I come up with a "goal" it ends up being halted by me being poor as fuck. What goals besides things at the gym can you really accomplish without money?
So your goal should be to make more money
>inb4 poorfag cope
Done all this shit and it helped until my late 20s. Now even with everything going objectively good I've never been closer to throwing it all away. Would become a fucking janitor of this website if it paid enough for the bills and some decent spending money.

Write down all the qualities and what the person you wish you could be does in one column, write down everything they don't do in the right column. There just do the things on the left and not the right.
stop expecting to run and cry to somebody else as the answer to every problem in your life
this except thinking about it from another perspective.
Does magic the gathering count as a sport. There's a trans girl there who flirts with me and I think I can lose my virginity
Looks like you have a goal now work towards it you degenerate freak.
Going outside
Start with the absolute basics, like having a morning routine you actually stick to, then keep adding more productive habits without bloating your schedule too much. This alone will allow you to get more shit done throughout the day. Once you get all your chores done on time and according to schedule, then you can move on to more challenging things.

Clean your room son its a mess
If they took it the other way around and started making the small and basic but important things their priorities and mastering them they would probably also have more energy and motivation to actually seek success in life rather than just getting by.
>hurr durr it's your own fault you're a victim in bucketcrab world
It's not your fault, but only you can fix it.
Yes, by pushing someone else below me, and then you'll be telling him the same platitudes? Fuck off.
Clean your fucking room you loser. You sound like a PUSSY. Wah, I can not even do the most basic things in life because I am a victim. Pathetic.
>y- you're a vagina!
>It's not my fault I can not do the things 99.9% of all other people on this planet do despite being physically capable
Yeah many young men lack a strong father figure, what's so laughable about that? It's just sad my man. I feel sad for those dudes.

No, its what they needed, not what they wanted.
>When they see success, they become fatter, more depressed, more blackpilled, more addicted.
how would reading American Psycho change my life? lol.
Never read the book but what I got from the movie is that the way you (re)present yourself influences how people treat you. You can get away with more if you’re dressed nicely. Also dress for the job you want to have.
As if Kaczynski was compatible with your 3 previous suggestions. Unless you think that American Psycho is a counterexample?
Low tier bait
All 4 clash with each other
Fight Club is stupidly edgy story about forcing yourself to hit rock bottom and try to recover from it + learning to not give a fuck
American Psycho is comedy. Sure, it criticizes how hedonistic and narcissistic modern society is, but if you don't take it as black comedy, then you're in for depression.

Don't go in the locker room while the nude boomers are closing 6 figure deals. Your cock is gonna FUCKING EXPLODE
>"With a car you can go anywhere you like", he thought to himself, out loud.
this but 100% unironically
The whole glorification of the "no car" thing is a great way to profile for city dwelling queerbaits.
True freedom is having a car, a truck, a boat, a tractor, an atv, plus your own diesel and gas tank.
Fat boomer detected
>With my car I can be across the country in a couple days
You know planes exist, right?
the post you replied to talks about packing stuff in a car to move to a new area. are you seriously suggesting that buying enough checked luggage in your plane ticket to move all your belongings is smarter than just putting it all in your car?
nocar losers confirmed for actual retards
>actual retards
Ironic considering your solution is to check all your belongings onto the plane instead of hiring a mover.
that's legitimately an even worse solution. hiring movers is economical for smaller distances, but hiring movers to go across the country? are you serious? have you ever done a large move before?
Sagacious.
Berry muy muy bombad post
Working out, meeting people every day, going to church every week (especially if there's a youth/young adult group there).
Make your bed every morning. Once you've mastered that, set a new harder-but-easily-achievable goal. Keep doing that.
Identify things around you that give you bad vibes. For example:
>that treadmill with coats hanging on it that reminds you of wasted money and not using it
>the dirt dog bowl you always refill but never clean
>the splatters behind the kitchen sink
>the stack of mail that you swear you're gonna sort through yet somehow it keeps growing
>the dust on the ceiling fan
>that candy bar wrapper you see behind the couch everytime you pass but it's like 3 feet out of casual reach so you don't pick up
>clutter. holy shit the clutter. so much stuff you haven't used or enjoyed in 5 years but don't want to throw away because it's a waste
Nofap
Your picture is awful.
Get fit, shave, but don’t live a false life.
You can find gamer friends that also go to the gym and socialize.
I have literally never met anyone who shares my interests in 24 years of life, except my music history professor and the (now dead) head librarian in my hometown. I have to put on a mask just to have acquaintances. I hate people.
Go out more then stupid. You are not unique
Fuck off gay, i've been to ten times more hobby groups and done more shit than you. You just got lucky and are acting all faggy about it. Bitch. You think i want to be a friendless khhv? Bitch.
lmao this bro joins "hobby groups" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHAHA
I'm not black.
Legitimately what is wrong with this? How else are you supposed to meet friends after graduating college? When you go to the bar you will just encounter vapid people. Same with parties (but let’s not kid ourselves, anyone actively reading this thread isn’t getting invited to one).
People in these self improvement threads always mention “get hobbies”, but now they make fun of people joining groups dedicated to hobbies? Wtf?
calling it hobby groups if fucking stupid. Just say CLUB you mongoloid
I wasn’t the one who said it. Seemed more like the replies were making fun of him for joining clubs rather than the language he used.
Literally church, work, or the local bar.
these are not the places to meet friends
You meet friends because you grew up with them. Those are places to meet women if you make it past your schooling and you aren't married.
>Work
Not for anyone with: a blue collar job, a tech job, a work from home job, etc.
>The local bar
Usually skanks with very boring personalities.
>Church
Not attended by young single women nowadays.
Unfortunately I have a job that is overwhelmingly male. All of my acquaintances who “met a girl through work” always worked some minimum wage retail job.
Appreciate the advice though, I’m gonna try going to church and the bar more.
>hobby groups
what does that even mean in the current year+7? Honest q
...groups where people who share the same hobby go? Book clubs, choirs, chess clubs, amateur theatre, shit like that. As opposed to actual classes where you pay to get taught something by someone, these you will find on bulletin boards of libraries or community centres, like "if you like to read, come join us on the second saturday of every month in the library". They are exclusively frequented by boomer men, old women and ME. All the young women go to regimented paid classes with their boyfriends/fiancees/husbands, never alone (at least i've never had the opportunity to meet a young woman in any of my clubs/classes).
interdasting, i didn't know things like that even exist anymore
They fucking have speed dating nights at those places you lying fucking incel gay. You're so fucking boring that you shill this shit on IST?
Not in my town, no. Only ever saw speed dating in american movies. Also, how is it shilling if they are community-run free events? I bring bagels or sweets and all the old ladies like me, then we talk about fucking Jo nesbo or whatever. It is very comfy and i get mires, albeit only from old women.

what the fuck?
Yes I am. I can't even relate to any of you retards.
You're probably such a realist after all and can see the true nature of things around you better than all the normalgays.

good lord anon stop contributing to my rape urges
Start having sex with older men.
But you have to get up and move in order to find what life has in store for you
No offense, but it's because you're a normie simpleton.
You call him a simpleton when he's figured out the answers to questions that you couldn't.
This is why I have a hard time feeling sorry for you gays.
You and him are gays for thinking that people much smarter than the both of you have never contemplated that question before. No shit you have to think about what you want in life. That's not some fucking revelation.

THEY ATE BREAD/GLUTEN
Choose one or the other with great care.
But that's what you need anon.
fuark this is a good redpill. thanks anon

>But I'm not
You fucking are.
Regardless of the accomplishments the idea is correct, social relationships are the most important thing. You can "change" everything else all you want, but without those life is meaningless.
>social relationships are the most important thing
You're lonely and exaggerating the thing you want
No better than a coomer buying bathwater.
bumping the important redpill, and remember that even if you are already in your 30s there is still time
this, in the end if you doomer yourself all the time you will end up what you think or feel you are. Its never too late to change, its never too late to get more positive or healthier thinking patterns, either. Phoenixes rise from the ashes of their former selves, be like the Phoenix and burn down your past self to arise anew!
Based on my personal experience so far, there are some core "aims" you need to have in your life:
>1. having a decent job
by decent I mean doing work that is, at the very least, non-stressful, tolerable, and pays enough to have a decent life. this is much harder than you think: in my experience, the blue collar/retail/15 an hour wagie life SUCKS. money isn't everything but being poor is fucking horrible and affects every single part of your life in a negative way. if there's one thing worth investing in, it's yourself to achieve financial stability. have to go back to college? have to go to grad school? have to grind out tedious tasks? remember how fucking miserable it is to work outside in the 10F cold in manual labor, or sit a desk for 10 an hour, or run around on your feet serving food. not only is the work shit, but you can't save any money, or take vacations, or invest in better lifestyle choices. having a low-paying, stressful job is fucking miserable.
>2. have a good relationship with your family, gf, and friends
it doesn't really matter how many close relationships you have, but you really need to have some in your life. ideally at least 1 close family member, 1 close friend, and your gf at the minimum. having a social group at work or through an activity is a big bonus but not always a given. life really sucks when you're alone and don't have anyone to talk to or do things with or share things with. if you have to choose between something where you leave your family/friends/relationship vs. having the chance to stay close to people you appreciate - CHOOSE YOUR RELATIONSHIPS
>3. consistent habits of sound body/mind
by these I mean living in a clean, orderly environment, having healthy food sleep etc habits, actively doing things you like (rec sports, taking walks, good films, etc). a big part of this is the continued desire to set more goals (things you want to try, addressing things you're unhappy with, etc.), try new things, and never stop learning.
now for the "habits" part"
>consistent visualization and explicit goal setting
you need to have a to-do list everyday. both short-term and long-term stuff (long-term as in months). write down explicitly what you want your life to look like
both of these posts are really good advice about how you don't need to have a "perfect" visualization of where you want to be because not only will what you want change, but you have no idea where you'll be in 10 years at all. act on what you think is a good life now - the above posts say it better than I ever could. at the very least, think about a better situation than you are in right now and visualize that in detail and write it down. how are you going to make goals to get to that visualization?
>setting micro-goals to fight procrastination
procrastination is actually fear, biologically, primarily fear of the unknown. if you break a task down exhaustively into mini-steps, it becomes a lot less intimidating and terrifying. break your visualization goals down into many, many minigoals and take action today. if you are genuinely trying steps towards your goals, there is no such thing as failure, only learning. the only true failure is doing nothing at all. I can't stress this enough
>FUCKING. DO. SOMETHING.
anything! fucking start taking steps TODAY. break down your image into these goals and mini goals and get fucking going. yes, it's hard, yes it can take a lot of steps.
>long-term view
life is a marathon, not a race. your goals will change, you will change, hopefully you'll meet people who make your life exciting. work on improving it but try to take time to appreciate the little things you have right now. can't afford a euro vacation for a month? well, can you take a road trip to long-weekend camp in the woods? do the things you can still enjoy and love NOW will still working every day to make your situation better, step by step. and remember,

Yeah, look, I'm not gonna read all that. You want some advice?
Make a choice
Alright fine. I choose life. What in the actual fuck should I do?
Bro, just burn infojobs.

welcome to the club my dear real human been, it's fun to be forced into a game you don't care about isn't it
>inb4 le npc
regardless of motivation, everyone is forced to act. inaction is also a choice, and rarely better than action. being able to be an independent actor and creating life on your own is superior to being dependent on somebody else for your sustenance. you don't have to chase material status, but you have to do something. and i can guarantee that there are some things you are naturally inclined to do, but you probably have stunted your emotions and personal growth by feeding yourself a false narrative that you can't achieve anything, or dulling your senses my mindless media consumption. with internet and access to the software tools we have to do there is no barriers for anyone in the first world to become an entrepreneur, and i guarantee that you can find a partner somewhere in the world who would love to be with you if you can grow up
The idea that Work is supposed to be something that fills you with passion an interest is a meme pushed by people who want you to be easier to bargain with, because you think that Work is compensation in itself and something is wrong with YOU if your day-to-day in a given environment is misery.

Imagine listening to a rich kid who despises you and just want your money and attention. Sam is an amazing grifter.

Platitudes aren't an argument
nor are platitudes towards a platitude
Nothing i said was a platitude. Feel free to look up the definition then have a nice day. Thanks.
more platitudes baka, I'm patient enough to wait for you to finally form your first every argument if you'd like?

Prove the tude dude.
>Prove the tude dude.
prude the mude gugde
Calling out a platitude is itself a platitude, especially when you don't and anything else after it then calling it out.
>when you don't and anything
when you don't say anything
The fact that he "despises" the people who need to hear what he's saying is most of the reason it's good advice. He doesn't blow smoke up asses, he says rude things like,
>Stop looking for a woman who aligns with you completely.
>I'm into polygamy
>I'm not
>gosh golly gee, folks! How do you think this relationship turns out!?
I think the example is to illustrate that you can take two people from the same background and culture the chances they will agree on everything will be slim. What he is saying is simply you need to find out what your willing to compromise on and what at the core you value. But he is just saying it in a blunt, pithy, and comical (which is subjective) way.
>sam's audience needs to be told such basic shit as this
Jesus fuck
>I'm not sure why you hate a relatively obscure internet comedian enough to do that kind of reaching while arguing about him, but alright.
Cut the shit. You'll defend your e-daddy until death. Why don't I like him? Because he's not funny and gays like you expect me to worship him as Jesus Christ because he said moron and garden gnome. And that's not getting into his past which goes far past "making a few mistakes"
Again, you agree on serious subjects. Sounds to me like your marriage is more a business partnership than actually being with someone you like.
The way Sam treats his audience now kind of leaves a sour taste in my mouth. He seems to have a lot of disdain for them and feels they're completely incompetent to do anything.
>they're completely incompetent to do anything.
I legit gave his streams a chance and while yes he is a grift-fag who just wants shekels, his audience is FUCKING. RETARDED. I can only assume they are the biggest turbo NEET spergs imaginable which is why saying shit like "get an actual job" is more revolutionary than "clean your room".
>hey sam i'm a 29yo man working as a walmart checkout guy. should i pursue a career in music? been watching you since 201x. oh, you didn't see my original $50 donation? here's another $50, dad! :))
I will admit his patience for this speds is something I could never do myself.
>>sam's audience needs to be told such basic shit as this
if you know anything about people, religion, or philosophy you would know that while we "know" simple truths we rarely keep them in mind, its why repetition in religion and philosophy is a thing. Because we don't keep these simple truths in mind all the time. Its not that people "don't know simple things" as much as it is people fail to keep them in mind.
So you're saying Sam Hyde is religion/philosophy. lolol
no, just people repeat truisms to keep them in mind, not that they have never heard of them before.
You need to have the same values, not necessarily the same interests or beliefs. Polygamy is inherently reflective of whether one values monogamy.
Unironically NoFap. There are myriad benefits, both mental and physical. Spend 10 minutes reading the research on it and tell me it isn't the greatest problem young men face right now
This. I ruined a 14 day streak last night and now I feel fucking terrible. Blew my load all over my face too due to the unexpected velocity.

Come up with your own set of rules to live by and regularly revise them.
Figure out what is important to you and what you believe is good for yourself. Pretend your giving advice to a friend.
I'd tell my friends that life is meaningless and if you don't have a nice day after figuring that out then you have to just suffer and cope unless you get lucky.
what's always the best about these threads is that you're all self deluding. "hurr durr you must live by your own definition!" this is copium generated to make yourself feel better about everything being relative and not mattering. "hurr durr you gotta do something with your life!" this is copium generated to make yourself feel better about the fact you're gonna die and not be a concious thing anymore some day. "hurr durr i wish i wasn't so unmotivated it makes me SAD." fucking WHY? don't be such a bitch boy and embrace that you were born in a time that you CAN be a lazy shit. that's the culmination of hundreds of years of human toil.
much like how this post itself is copium for you, good job!

I don't think it does. I can point out you're all fart sniffing retards as I huff the fumes myself.
sure, technically. but then nobody will take your words seriously. and if nobody's taking you seriously, what's the point of writing that whole paragraph?
and don't lie say you posted it for fun, because you're clearly pressed.

>work

such is life
this is gonna sound lame as fuck but I 100% believe you can be your own friend solely based on how you talk to yourself and take care of yourself.
*Mindfuck yourself, and you will never really recover from it.*
If your mind (aka you) is like an unmapped jungle to explore... then explain to me exactly just *who* the fuck is doing the exploring?
its a metaphor for just knowing yourself better or at least maybe cleaning out the cobwebs of things you haven't fully addressed in your mind yet.
>unnatural analytical dissection
>Now animals are alot more stupid than us I know
This is exactly why these Ancient people said we should spend part of our day journaling, reflecting, thinking... because as far as we know it is our ability to think and reason that separates us from animals and to not do so as a human being is to turn your back on basically everything that you are, according to them.
>journaling, reflecting, thinking
Lol these things don't necessarily have anything to do with the unnatural analytical dissection of the human mind which is a staple of modern psychology and the subject of this discussion.
You're not popping the hood of a car you're squeezing all the toothpaste out of a tube and its not gonna go back in.
>you're just going to mindfuck yourself yourself Modern you really will never heal from it.. Modern psychology is so fucking dangerous for this reason.
except the Ancient Greeks, Ancient Romans, Taoists, Buddhists all said virtually the same thing in one way or another. Buddhism to this day separates an individual into 3 elements: heart (soul), body, and mind.

Read philosophy. That's literally it.
I have for 7 years at least 1 hour a day. Doesn't work
The snowball effect from just reading some of the death of Socrates/The Republic into your every day life is wild.
Start with small goals you can complete daily until you build the trust in yourself to set/follow through on bigger and bigger goals.
we‘re all gonna make it
here is a hard fact of life that sucks: you change your habits and behaviour by thinking about it and making a logical argument in your mind, but by actually doing it at the moment and will-powering through it slowly.
