What happened?

I just clicked a Ronnie Coleman video on YT and apparently he's had 13 spine surgeries and can't walk?

Had surgeries that went wrong if I remember correctly and he also continued to lift whilst in recovery

He still lifts *now*. He had so many surgeries that his back is completely scar tissue and for his latest one they had to go in through the front, remove all of his intestines and organs, just to work on his spine.

to continue, they didn't put back his intestines and organs due to inadequate storage centers tampering the biological material. He currently has a single bioartificial tube going from his stomach to his genitals.

Yeah, and Ronnie lifted a LOT heavier than most of his counterparts did, which took a toll on him. Aren't a lot of pro BB'ers you'll find who decided to hit 800+ lbs. for squats and deads when they knew they could do less overall damage using other lifts and machines instead.
Nothing wrong with squats and deads, but they don't need to be ultra-heavy to get great results if you wanna stay in the game for a long time.

He broke his back, finished his set, went to get surgery, the doctor told him ‘seriously do not lift heavy while this is healing’, and then Ronnie went back in the next day to do heavy deadlifts
The source of this story is himself
It’s dishonest to say that the surgery ‘went wrong’ although the healing process certainly did

He's a moron. He snapped his back training like a dumbfrick so many times that he needed surgery, then he kept training the same way while recovering, despite being warned by the doctors to not do that. Repeated the process 13 times and here we are. People on the internet were cheering every time he came back to lifting weights immediately after a back surgery and saying it was "inspirational" now he's probably going bankrupt because he drowned himself in medical bills

He went full moron with his training. Had a spine surgery and a week later tried to squat 800lbs or something and this probably happened more than once

It's based how dedicated he is but it actually sounds like he has an addiction to lifting weights

I wonder if that's why he's selling his house

He would literally slip a disk in his spine, go "no pain no gain homie!" then keep on squatting 600 pounds. When he eventually went to get surgery for his slipped disk, he would keep on squatting and working out. Dude has nobody to blame but himself.

No. There is a difference between dedication and stubborn moronation

Not to mention doing heavy doubles with a suit does jack shit for hypertrophy. I'd be really surprised if that man has an IQ higher than 80.

he's had spinal fusions, which is probably the worst surgery with the least amount of evidence showing its efficacy. It only has a 25% of working and most patients either keep their dosage of opiates or increase their dosage.

In a study of return to work workers comp people, 65% of the people that just waited 2 years were able to return to work while only like 30% were able to return to work that had the surgery. The surgery also permanently disables 11% of patients.

The reason why it's done is because it costs anywhere from $100,000 to $140,000

Because spine fusions are perfectly valid and good procedures for people that actually need it.
Surgery for lower back pain, specially without sciatica, is basically a money grabbing scam.

He snapped his shit up in like 1998 and just continued to train through the pain like a moron

His body completely fell apart in like 2013 and that's when he started getting all the surgeries

He would have been fine, but he trained heavy on the surgeries against doctors orders and snapped his shit up even harder

Now he basically has no movement in his hips or back and has to use a scooter to get around

All because he ignored common sense and went full moron even after his body failed

Despite having about half as much abdominal organs as you, being much older, and having a single spinal rod rather than separate vertebrae - he still out lifts you

True, I'm a calisthenics gay with fully functioning body and not a pain killer addicted junkie who spent millions on surgeries and can't walk unaided.
