I mean it's both, you should be getting 10k steps a day if you aren't already and you should be doing cardio regularly, but if for some reason you have to only pick one then walking cause it's better on your joints.

Then walk 10k steps a day and do something to get your heartrate up every day, it doesn't have to be cardio walking and lifting weights is a very good combo, it's what I do, lift then go for a comfy nightwalk, sometimes I break into a bit of a jog when on a nightwalk just to get my heartrate up, it's pretty good.

If you run with a 3 strides per second pace for an hour thats 10,800 'steps' that recuit more muscles and destroy your bones and ligaments, which is then being repaired, so more energy spent.

It's because we see you as the type of person to not do anything UNTIL you're done saving up for a magic bullet. The steps you can do now. An hour of cardio you could do now. Instead you're wasting away any progress as if each sedentary moment is getting you closer to a financial goal.
At least, that's the image you project. You have exercised daily since then, right?

I think there's some merit to the idea of early morning cardio so that you kind of jump start your metabolism for the rest of the day.

    the right order is:
    >stairs climbing
    >cycling
    >walking
    >running
    >static machines on gym

reason behind running being so low is cuz it's the most injurable one, if it's not your knees, then it's shin splits, if it's not shin splits then there is always something else, i'd say running is only good on short distances like 3-5km max 3x a week

Sprinting beats running every time. It's a more intense workout but it's also shorter so you're not tearing up your joints for hours at a time like with distance running.

      Anonymous

low iq comment. fatties like stair climbing because they can do an easy workout for 20 minutes and convince themselves they've done ""cardio"". you aren't fit unless you can run for 30 minutes plus

        Anonymous

Are you moronic? I've never seen a fat person on the stairmaster because they can't even get on it. They use bikes, ellipticals, and treadmills. Admit the stairmaster is the cardio of chads and stacies.

          Anonymous

The true cardio of chads is sprinting.
          >only 15-20 seconds of max effort each time
          >takes less than 30 minutes to do a set of 4-5
          >shoots your heartrate up
          >improves your overall cardio endurance more than any other cardio
          >totally wipes out your glycogen stores
          >hormonally preps your body for whole-body muscle repair
          >doesn't leave you a hungry skeleton
          >doesn't wreck your joints because it's done in small bursts with long rest periods
          Take the sprinting pill.

15-20 second sprints to failure with 5+ minute rest periods. You'll be done in like 20 minutes and be wiped out for the day, having used up all your glycogen and then some.

Gotta be walking. First 3 years of college I walked an average of 5 to 8 miles 5 days a week then maybe a couple miles on the weekend. I was still hitting the gym but I found it impossible to gain weight. I didn't do any cardio because I had no time. Then I lucked out my first semester of my senior year. I got a car and all my classes were in on 2 days. My walking dropped to maybe 3 miles twice a week. Because I had a lot more time ibstarted doing an hour of cardio. Did bike, row, run, steps, jumprope, 6 times a week. It didn't help. I put on weight. Like pure fat. I couldn't figure it out a d I thought there was something wrong. In two years I went from maybe 12% bf to 18% bf. Then I get a job at a ware house for a out a year. Walking 5 miles 5 days aweek again. I'm down to my college weight.

I thinkncardio is important but now I male a serious effort to walk minimum 30 miles a week. Half those with a 38 lb pack. It will help a lot

  24. 5 months ago
    Anonymous

They're all trade offs there isn't really a best.
    Shit knees swim
    Shit shouldered run
    Neither are shit row
    Both are shit bike/elliptical
    Shit feet don't walk
    Shit elbows don't row

I think the ideal way to do it though is to alternate cardio and walking. So you can push your limits and get the vascular benefits while also having days you can recover and don't have to worry about tendons and joints all that much.
