After Nietzsche was dead, his mother and sister (both of whomst Nietzsche had less-than-wonderful things to say of) inherited his estate, including all of his notes and unfinished writings. Going through all of his notes and writings, WtP was made. A lot of the time, the writing is horribly distorted - a seemingly singular paragraph is often made from things that had nothing to do with one another but that his mother/sister thought looked like they went together, so his writings would be altered, blanks created and then filled in, to give things the (false) appearance of having always-already been that way.

Philosophy can be particularly bad for being dense and filled with often unclear use of terminology that authors often take for a given that everybody will be familiar with.
