I've been using finasteride and minoxidil for a few years. I've slowly lost ground but it's hard to say how bad things would've been without any intervention. Luckily I started with incredibly thick hair, so even though I've lost density in the front, it still looks thicker than most people's. Nobody can even tell I have any hairloss at all.
That said I recently started using oral minoxidil instead. I've never felt like minoxidil did anything for me topically, and then I read about how about half of people are non-responders and that oral is more potent. Definitely seeing good results with that, with lots of baby hairs growing in at the corners of my temples. Also a lot less of a pain in the ass to use.
