what motivates you to lift when 30+ and married?

i'm losing motivation to *lift weights* at this point in my life. i already run and cycle regularly and eat healthy so i'm not too worried about general health, but the only thing that's really keeping me lifting weights bodybuilding style is 1) vanity, 2) if my wife ever leaves me i'll still be somewhat good looking for my age and 3) habit

when i was single and in my 20s it was way easier to justify getting up at 5:00AM to go to the gym because glutes for the sloots etc.

    Have fun losing muscle mass

    You might think

    >meh I’m natty I barely have any muscle anyway… yes I quit lifting!

Then fast forward a year and you’ll have lost all that extra muscle and you’ll realise how weird your non-lifting body truly looks like, you will be surprised how quickly your “DYEL natty gains” will turn out to be “woah wtf I was huge a year ago back when I was still lifting, god damnit IST for making me think I had no gains”

    You won’t get it though

Also, cardio will never give you that extra 20-30lb of lean body mass that lifting gives you, you’ll lose that all and you’ll be shocked at how much of a difference it was making, but you’re mind fricked from roidtrannnys posting on social media that you don’t even see what you currently have and you won’t see it until you quit lifting for a year and lose it all and then finally wake up to the fact you’re 20-30lbs lighter but haven’t lost any fat

      >20-30lbs lighter but haven’t lost any fat
That's one of my deepest fears, and one of the things that keeps me from slowing down even as I get closer to 40.

You’re responsible for being a role model for your wife and children; they will flat out mock you if you’re weak and not respect you. You’re responsible for protecting them and making them feel safe; nothing about a fat, weak suburbanite dad with a paunch inspires security. You’re responsible for being able to take care of them the entirety of your life; that is hard to do if you turn into a fat, sloven middle-aged has-been who dies of a totally preventable obesity linked disease at 60. As a man, your family should be even more reason to be the absolute ISTtest you’ve ever been. You feel this way because your T is naturally dropping due to age and having procreated. Should probably get that checked on.

You shouldn't run unless you lift weights. Why am I giving advice though, you have roodtroon pic...

My children. I lifted before they were born but when they were born I took it up a notch. I want to be the best role model I can be for them in every way possible.

    >Being a role model for my kid
    >Mogging other dads
    >Mogging my ancestors (very hard with the exception of my own dad, but i try anyway) so i may become the reference point of an ideal man within my family
    >Staying good looking for my wife because after 10 years i still love her and she deserves the best. (She tries her best for me too!)
    >Mogging colleagues
    >Charming HR ladies & recruiters so i get a nice pay increase whenever i change jobs (worked twice so far).

I switched to kettlebell and club work to increase work capacity, mobility/flexibility and endurance because playing with kids is hard work and I intend to remain active with them as they grow into adulthood.
So it's not powerlifting or bodybuilding style, but it's a lot of loaded carries, snatches etc.

I am a man and I want to compete. We all compete when younger for girls, jobs, social standing etc and this doesn't change when you get older. We all live into our 70's and IST can't think of any other age then their own. It'll happen to you someday, and you should want to keep living life and being a man.

I want to live up to my potential. I have been improving steadily for 10 years financially- and finally I have the resources and time to get serious about what my body can do. I have goals and aspirations the same as when I was in my early 20's.

Also I loathe reddit-tier dads with their weak minds, weak bodies, fat wives, homosexual kids, cringe hobbies, pussy politics, and excuses and normalization for all of it. maybe that's the real reason - I lift to not be a hypocrite

I'm 30 and not married but I have insane motivation to work out way too much all the time because my schizo demons are always after me and I just have absurd amounts of motivation. Like today I walked 4 hours, ran 2 hours, swam 1 hour 30 minutes and the whole time I'm just thinking about how I want to also rock climb and jump higher and run a marathon and so on but alas I went to an all you can eat buffet because I didn't eat anything at all all day, ate 6 meals in one go, then sat around in the furniture store for an hour before I was comfortable enough to be able to move with how full my stomach was and not throw up. Now I'm going to go sleep.

You have an eating disorder which you mask by doing hours and hours of exercise everyday

You have the brain of a mentally ill female

        >You have an eating disorder which you mask by doing hours and hours of exercise everyday

That was only today every other day I've ate meals spread out throughout the day. I also hate food in general, so if you're implying I'm some kind of person who really likes food, you are wrong. I've also struggled all my life with keeping on weight, never been overweight in my life.

        >You have the brain of a mentally ill female

No I have an extremely masculine brain and have interests and thought patterns that are hyper-male.

That is a based lifestyle tbh. You can do a marathon easily with that cardio base, kek. 4 hour walk + 2 hour run should be a marathon easy.

Yes I can but today was a rest day for me so I wasn't trying to go hard. I also have to taper off my running a bit to make time for all the cycling I'm about to do in the next few days, I need to get 200 km done, I could do it all in one go but then I'd need rest days and I don't want to require any rest days.

If I ever get married I'll let you know, but for now I lift so that if I get married I can mog all other dads on parent teacher meetings, little league games, field trips, etc.

For me it's seeing how quickly my childhood friends are physically degrading. I'm 33 and have had a core group of friends since I was 7. Everyone of them either has a bad knee, or back or something. Even the historically athletic ones are going to shit, and the fatties are even fatter.

I'm the only one who lifts and exercises consistently and it shows. I want to keep that going.

I lift because my son deserves a good role model. I basically have full custody so I'm really all he's got. When I was growing up I was the kid with the fat parents, but my son is the kid with the fit dad.
It makes work easier, both with men and women. I'm an attorney and muscles + correctly tailored suit opens a lot of doors for you.
I feel great all the time.
I will live a long time and get to see great grandkids.
Finally, to be able to frick my kid's zoomer preschool teacher.
