what percentage of the ISTizens can perform a 1 arm push up?
I bench 245 while weighing 170. I can't do a one arm pushup. How much stronger do I have to get or do I just not know how to do it?
I can't do it but it is impressive as frick if you can do it.
i can do em
nearly busted my left elbow since they put you in kind of a tough position
as long as you arent fat im certain any of you can do it, its way more balance than it is about strength
took me like three months of direct training (archer push ups, putting one hand in a ball and using it less and less, etc) till it just clicked
they are more of a party trick than anything else
if you want anything impressive planche push ups are a whole different beast, i have been trying for over 2 years and i still cant do em, i need to bend my legs or do a straddle planche
>I bench 245 while weighing 170. I can't do a one arm pushup. How much stronger do I have to get or do I just not know how to do it?
You're likely trying to do it with perfect form. Just spread your legs, twist your torso and claim that you can do it, like the rest of us.
It's usually not arm strength that makes you fail but your core. Start doing one arm pushups on a wall and slowly go lower and lower until your obliques are strong enough. Any exercise that trains rotational strength will be good.
Reporting in. I don't do push ups or calisthenics except pull ups. I only do incline bench, bench press, and overhead with proper progressive overload. Approx 19% bf and can do at least 3 per arm.
This is a clean rep, I can only do the one where you spread your legs wide open and do a corkscrew motion until the torso is like 45 degree relative to the hips
This is fricked, like proper crispy clean technique and everything. I do a lot of calisthenics and still suck shit at this exercise, almost everyone I know who can do it is much more side-on with wide feet
>see funny IST thread about one armed pushups >"oh this should be fun! i am pretty fit, shouldnt be too hard" >get down on floor >attempt one armed pushup >shoulder blade pops so suddenly it feels like it fricking slid out of place >constant sharp pain in shoulder blade now
frick you guys
Why do you stupid homosexuals always treat calisthenic exercises like some easy shit that you should be able to do without too much effort or that you could do if you have been training with weights for a while? I say this because of the constant threads on IST of people whining that they can't do a single pullup. Of course you fricking can't, you are trying to lift your entire bodyweight with your arms and lats, it's like wanting to ohp a weight close to bodyweight in just a few weeks of training.
I swear to god people are so moronic sometimes.
I do them weighted, but I've been working for it, so I won't get too wienery here. It took me some time to be actually able to do them, even though I was pretty strong.
3 with questionable form, none with good form.
I feel like a clean rep is an equivalent accomplishment to benching 225 for a calisthenics athlete. I am not a calisthenics athlete but I recently hit 225 and I feel like the only reason I can't do a OAPU is just because I don't train it
Most of this board is zoomers who got skinnyfat the second they moved out of their parents house, and fatties who want to talk about nothing except diet.
I just tried and failed. Lifts for this feel?
I tried it too thinking that you were a big loser and how much better I am than u.
Fails also kms
No one on fit could do this even with 3 arms

They're easy as frick what are you on?
I cannot do it, I am not strong enough yet

Its mostly structural strength and mobility issue than raw strength.

The most I've done was 3 in a row for each arm at 177lb 5'8
Just one? I can.
Two? Literally impossibile
the results of this thread so far are grim.

Doing one arm pushups with proper technique is indeed quite a feat. Nice, that guy can indeed claim himself to be stronk.
This is fricked, like proper crispy clean technique and everything. I do a lot of calisthenics and still suck shit at this exercise, almost everyone I know who can do it is much more side-on with wide feet
doing one armed pushups in this way is much more impressive to me than a muscleup
Yeah, but it's got a funky secret:
It's actually mostly core strength, not that much chest.
You can also make it extremely easy if you have your feet wide apart.
Normies don't know this and will still be impressed.
I can do 5 on each hand
I could do them for reps during COVID, I even graduated to one arm and one leg, but I'm still a skinny bastard.

That’s what you get for skipping OHP day

I can do 2
but I only do calisthenics and I'm a lean manlet

An actual proper form one? No
A fake twisting torso one just to impress normies? Yes

10? I've never workout so girls also can do 10
