>be me
>curl 40lbs per hand for 10 reps ez
>have friend
>he does the same with 30s
>he's slightly stronger on tricep exercises, like 5 extra reps on a set of 15 reps for me maybe
>he has arms twice the size of me without an exaggeration
WHAT THE FRICK IST? WHY ARE THINGS THIS WAY. LIKE YEAH, HE'S BEEN TRAINING FOR 3-5 TIMES AS LONG AS ME BUT CMON, HOW IS THIS SHIT POSSIBLE? I KNOW STRENGTH DOESN'T EQUAL SIZE BUT MECHANICAL TENSION SHOULD EQUAL SIZE AND MINE SHOULD BE GREATER? IS IT GENETICS??
>is it genetics
yes it is. Now stop b***hing and mog your friend by lifting more weight.
>Oh man, the guy with arms the size of twigs in comparison to me curls slightly more. Mogged :/
It's probably different per person. My friend has gigantic bicep about he trains his biceps by doing lots of chest curls and preacher curls. Simple, no tricks, just dumbbells and curl bar and increasing weight
Same with him and me. We practically do the same exercises with the same execution. Well, he sometimes does a bit of cable work while I stick to dumbells, but that's it. I train biceps more frequently so my numbers obviously got past his by a lot at some point. And I wouldn't mind him being a bit bigger due to more time overall and genetics, but they're without a single exaggeration, twice my size.
Same wingspan, measured them together today out of curiosity. Might have SLIGHTLY longer arms coz his torso is thicker and wider than mine but the arm length difference is like 1-2 cm max.
Thanks will do! With the rope attachment? That aside, it still doesn't really explain why his arms are that much bigger if our exercise selection isn't that different.
you probably have a lot of fast twitch muscle fibres my homie, your potential to grow is probably more than him
Do you have longer arms than him? You could have more muscle but it is more spread out which make it look smaller
My arms only grow from time under tension.
Try doing Hammer 21s with cables, that shit will blow up your arm size.
Single or with rope? Not op but will give this a bash
Arm Training Thread
Op do you have a triceps one of this?
Not really but as far as I know, the long head of the triceps is more active when the shoulder is in a flexed position, meaning extensions happening overhead including for example skull crushers or cable overhead extensions. The lateral head is plenty active in most other classic triceps movements, especially pushing movements. And nobody really cares about the medial head coz it's not that visible, small and gets plenty of work from other exercises. It's best to pick one Overhead movement, one normal isolated movement and maybe a heavy movement like a JM Press, a Dip or a close grip bench/pushup to build triceps optimally.
U got small arms tho, chins didn't help you that much :/
>U got small arms tho, chins didn't help you that much :/
that was my point
my roommate who can barely do like 5 chins has almost 18 inch arms
That's the even weirder part. According to your theory, isolation work should be, and is, more important for bicep growth. My friend weighs more than me and can do more chins than me, but I curl more than him. So why are my arms twigs compared to his?
It's likely different insertions. Also, pullups primarily work your back, your biceps don't take a super active roll and your back will get more micro tears and growth signals. It's why curls are recommended. Cheat curls are quite good.
You didn't read what I said, did you. I already curl more than him.
Will try
>That's the even weirder part. According to your theory, isolation work should be, and is, more important for bicep growth.
I never said that
Personally I think it's mostly genetics
Some guys naturally have bigger arms, but also guys tend to either be 'torso' or 'arm' guys. something about the way they're built means they use one of those more than the other. so my torso grows easy and fast but not my arms but it's the opposite for others.
He has a bigger torso and bigger arms than me.
tricep has three heads.
ok and
I have 17in arms and I just half ass my curls, though I can do 55lb dumbbells pretty easily. I do a lot of weighted pullups and chinups at 100lbs+ added though.
I'm not gonna cut ROM short and worsen my gains. Bad advice. I do weighted pullups and chinups too tho 😀
44 inch chest 13 inch arms reporting in
can do 3x5 weighted chins with 45 lbs easy
Ring curls, no lies. Done with proper form your arms will grow PHAT. DO DEEEZZZ
How do you not rip the skin off your hands doing these?
>rep chinups with 90lbs on
>bench 245 for reps
>15.5in arms
Ive decided to just spend half the time doing arm work
Heh
Sure but isn't progressive overload the driver of hypertrophy? And doesn't more overload mean more hypertrophy? And doesn't me being more efficient at this mean I should at least have similiar results?
Aight
Work on your functionality to talk to women
progressive overload in str doesn't correlate 1:1 with progressive overload of volume. bodybuilders or hypertrophy concerned lifters train differently than that of strength. guy curling 30's, strict form, slow eccentric, 1RIR. can easily outsize some goon doing double or triple the weight. volume, frequency and training age mog raw strength when it comes to hypertrophy.
>guy curling 30's, strict form, slow eccentric, 1RIR
Ehh, it's not that perfect. We both have practically the same form. He tried to work with the 40s but failed even with excessive cheating. My biceps dominate in terms of strength.
>volume, frequency
Same for both of us
>raw strength
It's not tho. His are just twice my size for whatever reason.
Possible. Hope ur right anon 😀
I know. I do dips and overhead extensions already. Thing is, him being 10% stronger with triceps doesn't explain his arms being twice my size.
It's almost like some people have better bodybuilding genetics and can train the same and get bigger(or he is on drugs)...........
Strength doesn't equal size.. just because two people can easily curl 40lb doesn't mean person A hasn't spent 2 years training for hypertrophy.. nor does strength equate for overall volume performed. keep curling, eventually you'll have big biceps.
OP read this:
https://billstarrarticles.wordpress.com/2016/01/10/bigger-arms/
The most moronic thing I've ever read. It's a weirdo coping about people working their arms so he's turning people into powerlifters. I've lost several braincells reading this. You're stupid.
I'd rather have stronger muscles than bigger muscles. I only lift for myself and functional activies though
its genetics , dont question it, just do more work , thats all you can do, worst case you've already reached your natural limit already.
>natural limit
Mf, I'm a beginner
I know. But our triceps aren't that far apart as I mentioned in the original post as well. So what's the key factor?
Biceps are 1/3 of the arm, while triceps are 2/3 of the arm, so you will have to train your triceps
Triceps make up for about 2/3 of your arm, so stop focusing biceps and train every head of tri separately.
Do Dips and do them right, then skullcrushers and lastly overhead extensions. Your triceps will balloon and your arms will look a lot bigger.
Ok Ill enlighten you guys again. """strength""" doesnt mean shit for arms when it comes to looks. your arms ned volume and PAMP! you should train them isolated only for the burn and to failure with relatively light weight. my arm training looks like this:
>rope push downs / rope curls superset, 4*20, no breaks
>DB french press / drag curls (not in front of the kids) superset 4*20, small breaks if needed
>triceps focused push ups 3*F / DB hammer curls 3*15-20, at least super close to failure
this will give you nice arms and a super sick and fun PAMP. thats it.
>PAMP
explain pls bro
pump
>just PAMP zhose arms, putain!
YOU LET ME PAMP UR BUSSY AND THEN YOUR ARMS WILL GROW. SIMPLES
