I think that's around when I joined. IST was more fun, it was more about telling funny greentext stories, calling each other moronic, being stupidly encouraging, it felt very much like a communal locker room. Very few hate threads outside of the occassional FPH. Now it's just incels, polbait, and trolling with an occassional fitness question.

Man i'll bite do you know where they congregate? Its very obvious lots of boards have organized morons spamming them but Ive only occasionally found their discords. Every time I have ive reported it to discord trust and safety and it gets shut down but they regroup pretty fast. Theres multiple sources and sides too.
I do think the internet has generally gotten more negative but the amount of perpetually online schizo spammers does not help.
Unfortunately it’s a case were people who use the internet as a tool or place to casually post are competing against chronically online autists who literally live on the internet. You can’t compete with them, no matter how many discord servers of theirs you get shut down they will continue to propagate
