You grab the machine with your offhand and put your feet next to it. Lean out about 45 degrees. Start with your hand in front of you and lean forward slightly. Thumb up and finish at snatch position.
I've done 50lbs semi-cheating for 50 reps. If I do actually strict isolation bodybuilding style side raises I can get a good workout with 10lbs for 10-20 reps.
I like doing them strict with a slow eccentric.
Honestly I was amazed at how good a shoulder workout I could get with some light dumbbells and finishing off with db press after being pre-exhausted.

There was a point where all I cared about was shoulders and back, so I put the same intensity into rows, OHP, lateral raises, and rear delt raises that someone would put into bench, squat, and deadlift. Got to the point where I could do 4x10-15 with 22kg lateral raises and 3x10-15 with 27kg for rear delt raises. I could also OHP 2pl8 for reps. Still didn't have big shoulders because I'm an insertionlet apparently. My shoulders were huge but kinda flat looking because of the way my insertions are. Only the front delt was both huge and stood out
I dont have the biggest shoulders, but I like to do 3x8 lateral raises at 20lbs and then do a drop set of 8 reps at 15lbs
I like to do lateral raises with elbows bent, anyone else on this wave? It feels so much better on my shoulder joints and I still get great activation. Sure it makes it easier, but just do more weight.
I'm doing 10kg plates Luraises and I'm fairly skinny
goal is to do them with 15kg like lu himself
I can do that. What helped me get there was blasting high volume leaning cable raises.
never heard of leaning cable raises

>t only have barbells and plates in my gym

My 1rm bench is like 96 kg and I lateral raise with 7 or 8 kg.
Weight is not a worry on lateral raises, if you go too heavy you'll start using your traps instead.
One thing that helped me is imaginging that you're pushing the weight away from you, not just up, but out to the side as far as you can get it.
>My 1rm bench is like 96 kg and I lateral raise with 7 or 8 kg.
are you me? I have those exact numbers
