What would you guys consider a "damn impressive" bench for a 75kg individual. 120kg? 130kg?

      Just double it and add +10 for the poundage

        It’s double it and add 20% from the original

        • 11 months ago

          How are your doing your 20%? 10% original times 2 or 1/5 original?

          I double it and 10% of the double (only have to double once, just shift decimal to get .2x). It's easier for me. Both work.
          2x + .2x = 2x+ x/5

            Yeah that works, didn’t realize you meant add 10% originally. Thought you meant 10 pounds

        Murican education. It's weight in kg times 1.818 (or you can divide it by .454 for hard mode). I'm a burgerland native and even I can do simple conversions.

          >It's weight in kg times 1.818
          Hm?
          100 * 1.181 = 181
          100kg in lbs = 220lbs
          Doubling and adding + 10% actually works and is simpler than your method

    There's one of those brand wearing flip twinks at my gym who benches 100 for reps and it looks pretty impressive

      This, 2plates for 10 reps is impressive at ~80kg bodyweight. Gym normies will be blown away.

    If you have to add the caveat of bodyweight your bench is not impressive

      He should have just said “not an obese person” because those are never impressive

  8. 11 months ago

    In order to be impressive it needs to be at least double your body weight. That is at least 150kg for a 75kg person.

    2x bodyweight or 405 pounds (whichever comes first) is an impressive bench for a man

      most normie gym goers can't bench 2pl8
      3pl8 is impressive
      most people will never bench 4pl8 without PEDs, not impossible by any means but it requires dedication and willingness to bloat up a lot

        >it requires dedication and willingness to bloat up a lot
        You don't have to bloat up at all. I doubt bloating is going to get you that extra pl8. But it does take dedication.

          There's two people at my gym that can hit 4pl8, and is natural.
          One is just large, large frame and tall + general mass. Not bloated but not remotely lean either, that 405lbs is probably closer to 1.5x BW.
          The other one is more "normal" in terms of frame, and much more bloated. I only ever see him doing singles to triples. Most dudes around 2.5-3pl8 look better than him aesthetically.

            >The other one is more "normal" in terms of frame, and much more bloated. I only ever see him doing singles to triples
            Sounds like he's specifically lifting to increase numbers whereas
            >Most dudes around 2.5-3pl8 look better than him aesthetically.
            are not lifting to increase those numbers as much. If you don't train in a manner required for 4pl8's, you're not going to get there.

              I know, I am doing singles, doubles and triples mostly right now too because I want to graduate from a bit over 2pl8 to at least 2.5pl8. Just an observation.
              Another observation is that people who can do 2pl8 can look wildly different. Skinny, just pudgy, or stronger than they are. Everyone who does 3pl8 looks like they lift.

        how much even is 1pl8 2pl8 3pl8
        here the bar is supposedly 20kg
        weights are 20kg,15kg,10kg,5kg,2.5kg,1.25kg

        • 11 months ago

          One plate = one 20kg or 45lbs plate on each side.
          1pl8 = 60kg / 135lbs
          2pl8 = 100kg / 225lbs
          3pl8 = 140kg / 315lbs
          and so on
          >but 100kg is akshually 220lbs
          yes it is, americans will have to suffer the consequences of their moronic units and deal with lifting slightly more

      • 11 months ago
        Anonymous

        2pl8 is ~100kg
        45lbs = 20,41kg
        the bar is 20kg + 2x 20kg weights each side
        so roughly 100kg

        highest i do for reps so far is maybe 80kg, so 1.5 in terms of 20kg-plates each side

    I’ve never found it impressive no matter what weight, just seems like a pointless exercise even when compared to most other exercises in a routine in a gym. pushing less weight with dumbbells makes a lot more sense. More natural range of motion and a better judge of ability. squats deadlifts military press, curls, all have some kind of cross over in real life. if you have to push something off your chest it’s not going to be stabilized like a bar. dumbbell press is safer for you and like I said more functional.

    6'1 168lb. Can bench 240 x10. Cursed with small lean frame and bad fat storage. I look absolutely shit tier if I don't remain 10-13%bf. So I'd say anything over 2pl8 is amazing at your weight
