the latter, bc thats how perfectly normal and healthy humans have eaten for thousands of years
Cico
Humans are too sedentary and stomachs too big to work like this anymore
Above has a looooooooooooooot higher adherence for me
Problem is I'm always busy now and making chicken breasts takes time and a kitchen
CICO is hard to adhere to and leaves you nutritionally deficient.
Eating a healthy, animal proteins diet will give you all of the nutrients you need to thrive without any supplements.
CICO is optimal for bodybuilding
CICO is not optimal for health
Make of that what you will
Depends on the goal. If you are trying to maintain or build muscle then the later is fine. For some people losing weight without calorie counting is possible too. The first option is kind of a shitty set up and I don’t think anyone would actually do that but calorie counting is absolutely the most consistent way to lose weight. I’ve watched a bunch of fat friends I’ve had over the years eat all kinds of shit they thought was healthy but ended up gaining weight because they had no idea what they were doing and ate 3000 calories a day. Im nearing the dnd of my weight loss goals and have about 25 more to lose. Calorie counting has been great to actually understand what my body is doing. I’ve also found that people who are fat don’t understand how much they actually eat or what nutrition their body actually utilizes. Ive always exercised a lot but just ate way too much for years. Never really ate junk food or fast food. I would just cook with too much fat or have more meat than needed or eat too much pasta. I’m not strict with my calorie counting now that I know what I’m doing but I wouldn’t have lost weight so efficiently without it. These are my stats from this morning. I was about 245 in June. Pretty sure my body fat percentage is higher but not too bad.
Do you truly believe that normal people manage to stay the same weight because they're eating just to their daily calorie limit?
Weight fluctuates day to day but yes. If they are eating as many calories as they are burning then their weight will stay the same. Calorie counting is the tool to estimate the balance of calories in calories out. It would be very difficult to know the exact amount of calories burned versus digested. That’s why consistently being at a calorie deficit is important for weight loss.
Why do the Japanese have more type 2 diabetics than obese people?
Because type 2 diabetes is caused by overloading the pancreas not by being fat alone. The two are definitely correlated and I’m sure most fat people will be at least pre diabetic as they age but it’s the carb content of the diet the gives someone the beetus. What does type 2 diabetes have to do with calorie counting other than fat people fear both?
Because, at it's core, calorie counting ignores the macros inside of food by following the "a calorie is a calorie" mantra, which, cuts saturated fats out of food, as they're more calorically dense. This is bad, as saturated fats are the most satiating and nutritious macro you can consume.
You wouldn't understand it if you just count calories. There's a reason why the success rate for CICO is so low.
success rate for every diet is low,
they look at calories, protein, fat, carbs and there's tons of videos online??
injecting drugs doesn't mean anything, they raise their base metabolic rate
Lol what? Where did you get that idea? The frickers who don’t know nutritional balance and post about it here will definitely give a bad impression of what CICO is. Anyone who is serious about losing weight has to take into account that they need to burn more calories than they take in. Weight loss can not happen otherwise. Saturated fat is awesome. I just ate steak for lunch. Calorie counting is a tool to help understand what is happening in the body. Are you arguing that people who count calories only pay attention to the one number and don’t give a shit about macros? I would not have lost 50 pounds if I was just tossing back 1500 calories of white bread every day. People who fail weight loss b***h about it here and complain because they haven’t figured it out yet. Calorie counting just means to count the ESTIMATED calories as listed on nutrition labels subtracted from the ESTIMATED total daily energy expenditure in order to APPROXIMATE the actual calorie deficit or surplus of the day.
N=1.
A calorie is a calorie.
That is correct. A calorie is a unit of measurement registered as heat dissipation utilized to calculate the available energy in organic matter. When organic matter is eaten that heat energy is partially transferred to the body by digestion where it can be utilized by the body. Undigested calories pass through the body and remain part of the original organic material like fiber tends to. Calories are not physical objects but the measurement of energy derived from carbs, fats, proteins, etc. therefore it is vital to understand macros in order to understand caloric density. For example potatoes are a moderate calorie density but potatoes fried in butter are much more calorically dense due to the added fat content. Is this making sense yet or do we have to go as basic as general physics and the properties of energy?
A calorie is a calorie. Dig in.
Not if I am interested in losing weight. I spose you could eat bullshit food and count calories but I don’t get the point. Are you arguing that if I eat a shit sandwich I won’t lose weight? That’s dumb as frick. I would just waste a third of my calories for the day, be hungry, and feel like shit. A lot of anorexics like eating candy. They can lose weight and be unhealthy at the same time. Most people who care about their health and need to lose weight choose to eat a balanced diet at a caloric deficit but you are perfectly free to lose weight eating twinkies and nutter butters if the calories are low enough. Have fun with starvation and likely organ failure though. What are you actually arguing here? How do you think weight loss happens?
>INB4 some moron posts the sugar ads from the 1950's like that's some sort of good argument against CICO/basic thermodynamics
They eat a shitload of carbs. Sugar and rice makes up most of their calorie intake
Latter. Garbage food makes you feel hungry again even though you ate 2000+ Calories. Makes cutting difficult.
Eating healthy promotes "intuitive eating." Have an extra hard workout and you feel hungrier than usual, so you eat more to compensate and build muscle. Go walking outside for LISS cardio, hunger doesn't get triggered, don't eat extra, net negative Calories for the day.
They are skinny fat.
Calorie counting is a mental illness.
If your diet is so fattening you have to log it in a diary, change your diet.
Post body.
right now I'm eating only fruits and fish and I still could still eat more food at 2k cals. I use cico, got skinny with it, really like it, peace of mind knowing that I'm not undereating or overeating, great for fatties that just don't know. I spent 2 months eating nothing but garbage and I maintained my weight because of staying at maintenance, paused the cut basically, if someone a diet that didn't watch their calories took a break they'd gain the weight back.
cico is not hard at all, don't get at all why anyone dislikes it, it's the only thing that ever worked for me, I don't like arbitrary shit like just eat less, I like knowing if I eat X I'll lose Y. You don't like someone getting lean but eating junk? That's light years better than them being fat and eating junk because they can't stick to some strict diet.
Whatever works for you, dude.
CICO is not optimal, its a good framework to follow however it will frick up your insulin balance, this is why most bodybuilders eat rice and chicken
all bodybuilders follow cico, they weigh their food
They mostly look at protein intake.
Bodybuilders inject hormones, therefore proving CICO is false.
For me personally, I never really lost weight sustainably with #2. I just don't have a good sense of how much to eat and when to stop eating.
The winning formula has been
>steep but maintainable caloric deficit
>200+ g protein per day
>1-2 servings veg with every meal
>fruit
I still try to eat mostly whole unprocessed foods, but letting myself eat wraps and quest bars and stuff like that has been a huge help.
does protein powder not count as processed food?
The latter. If you're trying to lose weight just be hungry at the end of the day
All I know is I've struggled with weight gain all my life. Lost weight and got fit 3 times: first, lifting heavy and cutting all junk food (still ate carbs, didn't count calories); second, cut all carbs and did keto, except for beers at the weekend; and third, CICO and cardio. They all worked for me. But I always end up getting wienery and somehow overeating again, or eating the wrong things, and regaining.
How do you deal with the dizzy/constantly hungry feeling when cutting with CICO? I find it nearly impossible to work.
>cico
>intuitively eating
how about go to the fricking gym on a consistent routine you nerd.
