If the person saying it does science or arts in their free time then they have a point. If like 99% of the population they spend time on TikTok and Netflix in their free time, they have no point.

They look down on drinkers and nicotine smokers, just a lil bowl every now and then weed is so strong nowadays but I better not let it get out of hand.

The glory of seeing the sun rise down by the river as I run with my dog. The slow but steady rise of thunderous cheering as the bugs and birds and fish all wake up to root me on. Being greeted by the distinct pallet of blues yellows and pinks that are strangely similar but different to a sunset.

In 50 years the people who are overweight now and continue to not work out will be dead or invalids. The ones who work out now but let it fall off later will be ok, some will still walk. But oh the few who commit themselves to it, the ones who never give up… They will reach old age and still be able to run and keep up with their grandkids, they will live their whole lives never knowing a walker or wheelchair. No, we will not all be the same in 50 years.

Lifting and reading, writing, or whatever are not mutually exclusive

If you play the long game, you will have a lifetime of good health

The connection between mind and body is real, and aesthetic matters. Molding yourself, being towards yourself, is the most noble of all action.

The way the comic artist starts to throw those big bubbles with text simultaneously and through different argumentative angles, in such a defensive manner like if the gym dude represented a threat to his existence, tells me this looks like a projection of a fat ass telling himself why it is okay to not get up from his chair and do something about his sedentarism problem.
The most hilarious part is that he uses a girl and a man that does not look like himself but carry his thoughts that he would not address publicly. Instead of humor or morals it looks like an opinion filled with anger due to being bottled for a long time.

"Why do you think those things are mutually exclusive?" That or "tell me a book you've actually read this year? I can list a few I've read". These people are pompous midwits who think the best use of their time is mindlessly consuming the lore of a series through various wiki pages because their brains are too broken from overstimulation to read. To them, watching Rick and Morty is akin to reading 10 books. This comic perfectly captures midwit cope

I am completely willing to accept this thesis as self-evident, and observe it within my own body, but also there are plenty of historical examples of competent people with shitty bodies. See Napoleon, John von Neumann, Norbert Wiener, etc. Not quite sure how to square this. Would Wiener be smarter if he wasn't so obese?

I can tell lifting is good because I look at the absolute garbage slop produced by those in a physically pathetic and decrepit state and I realize strength and health of the body and the mind almost always overlap. The israeli cultural enforcement of “nerds” being smart but physically inept and unhealthy while “jocks” are strong and athletic but dumb and brutish is pure propaganda. The classically heroic European figure is both a warrior and a sage.
