what's the consensus on which training is best for naturals if the objective is to gain the most muscle? strength or hypertrophy?

Both
just lift heavy things man idk
literally this
lift heaving thing until muscle burn and cant lift anymore
powerbuilding, do ppl but start your days with compounds, do either 3x2 or 5/3/1, then the rest of your workout should be hypertrophy focused
Is the strength/hypertrophy dichotomy even that meaningful?
yes, because you can significantly increase strength (short term) without increasing size. and while more size means more strength potential, the ways to realize them aren't exactly the same.
for 90% of people no.
You'll get really aesthetic (if you're lean) in 5 years even with pure strength programs, and conversly you'll get really strong if you do pure hypertrophy work for 5 years.
Unless you want a really really aesthetic phyisque, or if you want to be really really strong there's no reason to focus on one.
Look at Ronnie Coleman who was doing elite powerlifter numbers at fricking 6% bodyfat.
And look at Hafthor bjornsson who's fricking huge in terms of hypertrophy at 6'10 even though he's not even a bodybuilder
the consensus is its individual depending on (You) and (You)r genetics anon
The beauty of this hobby is to find out what works for you
>if the objective is to gain the most muscle
>strength or hypertrophy?
hypertrophy literally means gaining muscle size...
You will never have a big chest benching 135
You will never have big legs squatting 185
Figure it out
This. If you have to ask whether you should focus on strength or hypertrophy you are not strong enough to focus on hypertrophy.
If you're only benching 135 you'll get plenty stronger doing any good hypertrophy routine.
Strength 100% and its not up for a debate.
This right here. There are a grand total of 0 naturals who are big but have weak lifts. It just doesnt happen. Everytime you see a guy hiding behind the dumbbell rack doing pump work out and they are "juicy", it's roids/sarms. 100%.
There are naturals who are strong but dont look that good, but there are no naturals who look good but arent stronger. Every single guy that I've seen packing some size with lean bf, they have been able to bench 3pl8, do OHP with 50kbs dumbbells etc.
I trained for 10 years like a bodybuilder and sure I had a decent body got mires and all but it wasnt until I lifted 2/3/4/5 that I actually started to look what I consider juicy. The problem is that people delibitarely misinterpret this as some powersharter fantasy. No, Im not telling you to get fat and do zero accessory work. Im telling you to get fricking strong and then finish up with cable flies, bicep curls, lateral raises etc. But your sole goal should be even with bicep curls and everything to lift as fricking heavy as possible. Which guy has bigger arms, a guy doing alternating db curls 4x12 with 15kg or a guy doing db curls 4x12 with 35kg? I mean your goal is progressive overload right? Why are you progressive overloading? For no reason? No, because being able to do your sets with bigger weights means that you are more muscular, stronger and bigger.
>There are a grand total of 0 naturals who are big but have weak lifts.
wrong. also there are tons of naturals who are strong but small.
How's he wrong? Do you know many people who are big and do 15kg dumbell curls? On the other hand yes I've seen dyel skinnyfats with decent lifts
I've seen guys in the gym and on IST who aren't that strong but still look great.
who knows
haha video algorithm balding shill man just like me fr fr no cap
hypertrophy, doing strength to try and get size is a dumb meme which should have died long ago, don't fall for that dumb shit.
You can get stronger in higher rep ranges of 10-15 its just slower progression. Last year I put 40lbs on my bench 10rm
Basically for hypertrophy you want to pick a few basic core movements:
(pull ups, front squat, RDL, Incline DB press, lateral raises, OHP, bicep curl, Barbell row etc...)
And basically try to get as strong as posible in the 6-20 rep range. The version of yourself that can do pull ups for reps with one plate will always have a bigger back than the version that can't do that.
The version of you that can incline bench 100 lb dumbells with almost certainly have a huge chest.
Strength is a bit more complicated, just follow programs made by people who know what they're doing.
Eat your eggs and lift heavy things
