What's the point of "bulking", seriously?

What's the point of "bulking", seriously?

It's just something we've all come to accept as what you do when it's actually really fricking moronic

>just become overweight half the year
>do the gymbro-version of binging and purging, when you could easily leanbulk
>meticulously track macros, instead of just exercising based on how you look

It really seems like a fricking scam. Nobody who looks good actually does this.
>Name a single ottermode Chad who gives a frick about bulking and cutting.

Bulking = caloric surplus. You cannot go from a 120lb stick to 180lb jacked without bulking. Gain 1/2 to 1 lb of bodyweight a month, train hard, and cut once you reach 16-20% bodyfat. Simple

      Here's a better idea:
      >don't eat like a fat fricking pig
      >eat around your TDEE with plenty of protein
      ???
      >profit

      inb4 muh
no studies have ever shown that bulking+cutting is superior at all.

        >>don't eat like a fat fricking pig
When the frick did I say that you narcissistic prick? A 1000 calorie surplus is eating like a pig, but that is not a proper bulk, that is called becoming an obese frick. 1/2 lb to 1lb of weight gain a month is a good bulk if you're late intermediate to advanced, and that's what you should strive towards. You can bulk faster if you're a novice since you can put on muscle more quickly, but even then a 500 calorie surplus is the absolute most you should go for.
        >>eat around your TDEE with plenty of protein
Eating at maintenance for 5 years will not take you from a 120lb skeleton to 180lb jacked. You need to put on muscle at some point, and you need to gain weight to do that. The only way to gain weight is a caloric surplus, which is a bulk by definition.
        >b-but recomp!
You cannot recomp fat that isn't there. Recomping only works if you are carrying lots of fat (eg at peak bulk), it will not work if you are a skeleton
        >no studies have ever shown that bulking+cutting is superior at all.
I don't care about muh science

        >You cannot go from a 120lb stick to 180lb jacked without bulking
        I did.

You gained weight, therefore you bulked.

How is 1lb a month even a bulk? That's how much muscle you should be gaining, not fat.

Bulking in this thread is defined as hard bulks half the year with hard cuts the other half moron. Keep up or hit the bricks b***h. Not believing workout science is based though it’s total horseshit.

Anyone that lifts consistently and isnt a mental midget knows youre right. The moronic discord trancels make 100 of these exact threads everyday fishing for (you)s. They argue in bad faith, use pilpul and talk in circles about a random lifting technique that they larp about thats obviously wrong, dangerous or assbackwards. Save your breath, your dealing with literal men in dresses.

Hey guys, let’s argue over the term without defining or agreeing what it means!

            same for you nerd.

If you want to be pedantic, bulking requires a caloric surplus, but a caloric surplus does not mean you are bulking in the way OP is talking about. OP is talking about bulking and cutting everyyear, as opposed to what autism Andy was talking about. Autism Andy is correct in his analysis of a strict definition of “bulking”, but his autism led him astray from the point of the thread.
