do you smoke weed? I was finding myself becoming groggy, lazy and sleepy in the afternoon and was taking 400+mg of caffeine throughout the day. once in a while is OK but if you smoke every single night, even just a bong or a joint. eventually you'll be perma hungover each day from the weed. I definitely think it has a stacking effect. it's meant to be enjoyed like booze once or twice a week even tho it's not seen as bad as alcohol

Can't believe no one has suggested you might have sleep apnea to some degree. Use one of those simple apps that records you while you sleep, and if you're snoring loud as frick you're not getting enough oxygen overnight.

Figuring out how to solve it without a sleep doc myself, mine stems from my sinuses clogging every night and forcing mouth breathing. Going to work on fixing that and then trying mouth taping

This. Use nasal strips you can buy at any pharmacy or grocery store. Consuming THC or really any drug the night before will bite you in the ass the next morning too.

If its chronic, its sleep apnea. If its rarely, then its some dumb shit that moves it from "good" to "borderline mediocre".

I did this. Recorded myself sleeping with a app. I would mostly nose breath. Snore sommetimes. However often i would breath in my nose, and then exhale out my mouth making a pfffff sound. Was weird. Maybe sleep apnea or what? Sometimes wake up in morning groggy others times good energy.

After 3-4 weeks I yet back on coffee and alcohol. I do these resets every 6 months or so.

No one actually gave the right answer. Most people are focused on after you get up, like drink water and take vitamin c. They ignored the most important factor. Assuming you are getting enough sleep then the issue is sleep cycle timing. Depending on the hours of sleep age rem cycle time. If you get up in a cycle you will feel extremely tired. There are sleep monitors that can predict these cycles and wake you in between them so as to basically eliminate the effect.

to me the key is caffeine. when iam completely off caffeine i wake up brimming with energy.

when i had just one strong coffe in the morning i wake up during the night and cannot fall asleep again for 1-2 hours. then i wake up like you described.

nowadays i drinc only green tea in the morning and i notice even with this a bad influence compared to nocaffeine phases.

its a curse because i love coffee. but good sleep is like a superpower.

    Fresh air whenever possible
Screen cooldown before sleep: it's best to read a book until you're sleepy
No coffee in the evening (for me at least 4hr before bed)
As a stomach sleeper it's probably better to sleep with an elevated head instead because of the venous congestion in the head and the impaired breathing

Mouth taping has improved my sleep noticeably. I wake up way more refreshed. I do a nasal rinse before bed every other day, blow my nose and put on a small piece of tape vertically. Doesn't need more than that to keep the mouth shut

For me I can basically relate carb consumption with how I wake up. The best sleep I ever had was when I was working blue collar, before I started drinking caffeine. I'd basically fall asleep instantly, and wake up without a hitch. But that was the most healthy I've ever been.
But overall, sleep quality is an indicator of your health, holistically speaking. Diet, activity, stress, psychological issues, sleep hygiene, blue light, all control it. Maybe you have sleep apnea, maybe you just need some water after you wake up. But I'd say you're missing micronutrients, abuse caffeine and lead a stressful life and abuse screens. Alcohol also makes sleep quality worse, some medication, etc.
It's basically on you to troubleshoot and anyone that gives you a one size fits all answer is talking out of their ass.

Bupropion. Take just before you go to sleep. You will wake up about 7 hours later and just get out of bed.

I struggled for years with having to spend like 1 or 2 hours preparing to leave my bed until I just took the Bupropion pill.

I have had the same experience.
Ages 17-21, wake up at 4am-445am full of energy no alarm needed, at most stayed in bed for 10 minutes but then got up and immediately started being productive. Cold shower, stretch, go on a walk to go lift, study, etc get ready for classes or work around 6am.
I was most productive at this time. Had a job while being a full time student, had a social life for the first time, hobbies, took my health seriously. I was just on top of it.

After 21, it’s been hell. Waking up takes forever. Doesn’t matter if I slept 3 hours or 8 hours or 10 hours I feel the same anyways. Feels as if I never slept at all. Sinuses all fricked up most mornings. Head has pressure in it. Groggy as hell. It’s so bad waking is almost painful. It feels the same as the few times I was hungover (I don’t drink).
It really fricking sucks. Have had hormones checked all is good.

I’ve done these things and this is what’s helped, a lot, but it’s still not good I still have issues and feel like shit
    >air filters
Those are supposed to be changed every 2-3 months… not every 5 years…
    >mattress
They expire. Most big name brands are pure shit, no different than an Amazon mattress in a box for $200 except you pay $500-$1000. Do your research. Make sure you rotate that homie every month. Right now I’m poor so I just spend $200 every 2.5 years. Sleep is way better the first few months of a new fire mattress before dips start to firm.
    >sunlight
    Daily, 30 minutes.
    >activity
Be active. Lift, go on a daily walk.
    >diet
    Be not fat. Eat healthy.
    >sleep position
This was big. I have to sleep on my back with my head perfectly propped on a single pillow. I used to sleep with 2 pillows and I realized it propped my head so much it slightly closed airway just enough to mimic sleep apnea issues. Same shit happens if I sleep on my side or stomach though, or if I didn’t get head position just right.

I’m still working on it, still trying to get back how I was

What's the secret to waking up and not feeling lethargic as frick? Only for one brief time in my life was I waking up and immediately full of energy, no alarm, and no hacks needed.

Also look into the Phillips light alarm.
It slowly turns a light that’s supposed to simulate a sunrise on, and then when it’s at its brightest an audio alarm starts and forces you to get out of bed to hit snooze.

That worked really well for me.
Until I began laying back down after silencing the alarm and laying on my side facing away from the light.

What you do is when you get up to snooze the alarm, turn in bedroom lights too. Getting light in your face forces your brain to wake up.
