It makes you slide less on a bench when benching with strong leg drive, so yea, if this is a problem you experience

OP please don't listen to nonlifters like

You want them snug I can't think of a situation where loose shoes would be better. You get them for support and then you lose the support.

A loose shoe is not as supportive. Get one that fits perfectly if possible, if not go snug

Low top converse at your size for weight training and properly fit shoes at a running or tennis store for running.

doesn't matter, you're supposed to stay glued to your position
that said, the traits you should be looking for are:
    >hard sole
    >flat sole
shoes with raised ankle are for weak little b***hes with defective ankles
powersharts will do anything to make their body as unathletic as possible, you can see by how they all hit impingement city and have garbage ankle mobility

Starting strength isn't for powerlifters homosexual. It's for people who want to get stronger.

Why the hell would you want looser shoes? I'm trying to think of any possible sport that would require a loose fitting shoe as opposed to one being as snug while still being comfortable. Literally the only time you want a "looser" shoe is when you need a pair of beaters than you slip on real fast to get something outside

Snug would restrict your foot and toe movement
Loose would still likely restrict your toe movement based on the shape of those

If you want to actually build strength everywhere in your body (feet for instance are your base connection to the ground) you would lift barefoot or in barefoot shoes so your foot can function how it was intended

buy $100 consoooomer shoes or take your shoes off

OP here, the shoes in question where 25 bucks and brand new from facebook marketplace. Figured it wouldnt hurt to get better quality shoes to deadlift in

Your foot was intended to move perfectly symmetrical loaded barbell movements in nature?

I measured my feet to be 27.1 cm long. So I got EU size 44 (see size table). But if I workout in them too long, my big toe starts hurting. So I got another pair in one size up (44 2/3), and while those are a little too big, at least it doesn't squeeze my big toe. I can squat fine in them.

You don't really need a size up like with running shoes because your feet won't be inflating from the inflammation of pounding your dogs on the ground. Just get some that fit snug when tightened up, you don't want to be slip and sliding around
