      That's for the best.
You ultimately know what best for your body, not some internet moron.
If you honestly try an exercise don't like it, it's probably for a reason.

when back squats hurt my elbows and low back every time. frick em. deadlift then front squat every lower day. feels good man

Lol I do the opposite. Deadlifts frick me up and squats are ok. I used to prefer front squats, but now I do back squats and hip thrusts to target the posterior chain that would normally fall to deadlifts.

I only want to dk these because inhave stenosis and after a hockey injury back squats cause some reaction. So i think front squats may be a way to keep barbell squats in my program

seems like carrying a barbell on your elbows can be quite limiting

About 2 months ago. I used to hate doing (back) squats. Now that I´ve made the switch I look forward squats. Love the insane core activation front squats give you.

Is using the crossed arms grip acceptable?

      Anonymous

Yes if you have poor wrist mobility.

Might be safer too, if you fail a front squat and don't push the bar out of the front rack position you will break both of your arms.

Moral of the story: don't do a lift you don't know how to bail from.

        Anonymous

if you cross your elbows everyone will know you hvae poor wrist mobility. and in their heads they will mock you. this will make you low status. you wont be invited to grill and pool parties. people will talk behind your back. women will avoid you and complain to management if you say hi.

the whole gym will know you have poor wrist mobility

No one else at my gym squats more than 3pl8, and I've never even seen anyone else there front squat. I don't care what randos at the gym think of me because I am not insecure. I don't worry about my "gym status", and I don't rely on gym strangers for social interaction because I have real friends. I would also never speak to a w*man.

if you're that antisocial save your money and get a basic bar and rack for home use as well as at least one pair of bumperplates.

your squat will most likely be limited by your standing press with no rack, but if you never bother socializing while your there you may as well lift at home if you have space for a bar and rack unless you just really like the tanning booth some have.

2.5+ plates for reps assuming you just train like a regular Joe on front squat is really impressive, gj lad. Maybe not as good if you're an oly lifter, fatass, and/or midget

When I realized that back squats dont make sense the point of squatting down is to pick something up and carry it so loading like you would to carry something makes more sense.

Now I do hack squats, front squats with a bar or kettlebells/dumbell and lunges with thoese bags in the gym that weigh like up to 30kg or dumbbells

If the plan is to limit quad growth based on upper back strength, they're great. Otherwise, they're not that special but a fun variation.
