When I was a kid I remember me and my sister would talk about stuff that happened "when I used to be a girl/boy" or "when I was a dog" and we had no idea about reincarnation.
Makes me think, could just be the child imagination but who knows. Trying to wrap my head around the concept of self and ego and time is impossible, the odds of myself existing in my body at current time are statistically 0. We don't really understand how the passage of time works and I think that's the most valid argument for reincarnation. A loss of consciousness means we lose the self and we lose our ability to perceive time and space, but the method in which the sense of self begins to manifest is beyond us.
Also that matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed so the matter that composes us will inevitably be used to create other lifeforms. But if reincarnation is real you lose all sense of self anyways, I dont think its tied to specific souls like in Bhuddism but a state of nonexistence is just hard to wrap my head around. Maybe we're part of an elaborate simulation and the matter and energy in the universe is the RAM limit and cloci speed, who fricking knows
