On average men and women are of similar intelligence. There is more variance in male intelligence than female intelligence. Women tend to be better at designated tasks (following directions) while men tend to be better at pathfinding (giving directions). The latter is more often implicated in creative thinking, and is more visibly displayed, but is not the sole element in the process.

That appears to be a study done only in California with a limited sample size, but also shows the opposite of your original claim. It says gay men have a lower BMI which indicates they are not more fit since males have to be overweight on a BMI scale to be reasonably muscular (basically every male pro athlete is overweight by BMI). For women (who do not have muscle mass) it show that they are more likely to be overweight.

Competition and a status-driven culture. When I was a waiter in high school, all the gay guys I worked with went to the gym 5+ days a week.
