It will continue for as long as people keep eating slop instead of real food

what's the source of that chart?
most healthy people don't go to the doctor at all, their data is not accounted in medical surveys

I got it from this site: https://www.tfah.org/report-details/state-of-obesity-2022/ I don't know their exact data collection methods and it's fair to be skeptical but I don't know what political motivation there would be to skew this data so I trust it is basically accurate.

A hell of a lot of it is cumulative.

      In the US:
      >Preindustrial, megalean to starving
      >Industrial but no cars, literally doing manual labor for 70-80 hours a week, walking basically everywhere
      >1920s people still working
      >1929-wwii: great depression, poor as shit, people literally have to go build dams and make roads and parks to not starve
      >WWII- Basic food is rationed at home, if you're fighting Nazis and eating canned rations how the frick are you getting fat?
      >Post WWII- you're finally back home, off the boat. Rations are finally ending, but jobs are still largely physical
1960s- you have cars, but loads of shit is still physical. Some of the greatest generation start to get heavy as they go to less physical jobs, but remember the average WWII male was 142 lbs and have depression era eating habits.
1970s- Women enter the workforce. This is where boomers start to frick up bigly. Women now enter stressful positions where they don't have time to do shit. So they and their families are now turning to loads of processed foods. The television has become even more of a babysitter. With women in the workforce and segregated neighborhoods a thing of the past, you can't have your kids out playing wherever as the mom-network that allowed roaming isn't possible and hordes of colored people roam previously safe low income white neighborhoods. Also US agricultural policy shifts in 1973 to pay farmers to grow as much corn as possible, driving down the cost of corn syrup, corn oil, corn meal and all livestock raised on that in part to control inflation.
1980s- greatest generation is retired and bloats up. Boomers chub up more on office work, driving everywhere and constant TV. Boomer kids are now plopped in front of the (cable color) TV and videogames begin to rise. Fast food portions grow bigger and bigger and kids are hooked early.
1990s-2000s- cumulative effects of boomer lifestyle now apparent.
      1/2

2010s- moron millennials start having kids and pass on their shitty food habits from the womb. Kids are wired from moment one to eat garbage and they bloat up rapidly. It's simple as frick to drive everywhere and never need to stand except to make it to the shitter. Meanwhile the rise of "body positivity" makes saying people are fatasses and laughing at them not a thing. Smartphones proliferate, to the point people don't even need to walk to their television to be entertained.
2020s- COVID hits so people don't even leave their homes. UberEATS and grocery delivery makes buying frickloads of shit even easier without leaving the couch. Remote work makes it so no one even needs to get up. moron zoomers have been eating horseshit and surrounded by moronic millennials and boomers who are super bloated to the point they think they eat "pretty healthy". Generation Z+1 or whatever the frick you want to call it is 5 years old and now carries a tablet in front of them at every moment.

This is a pretty good summary. You're describing long trends. What I remember as a kid in the late 1990s and early 2000s is McDonald's super size being very controversial. I would have thought that would be a turning point where people realized they need to fricking stop ordering these ridiculous portions. Little did I know that was only the beginning.

Essentially everyone in my family now has a weight problem. My brother's wife in particular has gotten very fat since having a kid and it pisses me off.

Changing ethnic mix is part of it. Heavy marketing getting people to eat more goyslop and takeaway is another part. Most people did not eat out or get takeaway that often pre social media and grub hub.

    >Why did it get worse?

Fast-food are cheap, plenty and easily accessible. And groceries sell lots of processed, sugary, salty, carb filled junk.

    I'm not really bothered though.
The more moronic, lazy, fat slobs there are, the more girls I'll be able to pull.

You’re confused. The more fat slobs there are, the less skinny girls exist for you to pull.

I wfh and am consistently amazed with how fat the general population is these days, I do not remember it being this bad. I regularly see people in the street with who are on O2 or have some sort of edema that looks. diabetes related. I remember seeing fat people as a kid, but I have no recollection of seeing people wheeling/hobbling around 1 step away from being intubated.

      >How could it have gotten worse?
Covid left people to their own devices and a lot got fat. Also fat acceptance is now mainstream so there's a lack of social pressure telling people not to be obese. Also this

I've got a feeling that to keep up the illusion that people aren't being robbed through shit like inflation there's been an active effort to make it appear as if life standards haven't been reduced. If it's the norm to eat meat every day, at least with supper, people haven't yet to eat less meat but instead got gradually worse quality meat presented to them. Basically, we keep getting less and less nutritious food in order to keep it cheap and keep up appearances when in reality eating quality food like our ancestors did is becoming completely unaffordable for a lot of people.
On top of that hedonism is actively bring encouraged, people aren't taught shit about nutrition, most jobs are sedentary, they put sugar in everything or if you're American you have to deal with high glucose corn syrup in everything. Pollution, increased serving sizes of worse quality food, plain old lazyness and no major cultural movement to embrace working hard on a physical level. I'm sure you can just keep adding to the list of potential reasons. Like seed oils or car culture or declining genetic fitness
