    his posture was shit for the lift, he tried to bail the weight but it bailed over his neck and he fell down on his ass and the weight snapped his neck

            Why not just use catch bars.

    Simple. Don't do 1rm. There is literally no point outside of powershart compensation. You want juicy quads and want to do squats? Great use a weight where your muscles fatigue between 10-30 reps. Do that until your legs are pumped. Use safety bars and stop 1-2 shy of failure. Don't be a dumb homosexual.

      What's worse, most will deliberately walk backwards until they're out of range of the safeties (if using a half rack)
      There is no such thing as a safe squat bail

      Most people at my gym use the safeties. Where do you live?

    He took it from hooks outside the rack, there were no safeties
    There was a spotter behind him so he couldn't dump the bar off his back
    He couldn't rise from the squat and and ended up sitting back, but the bar rolled forward instead of pitching backward, and sheared his neck, dead
    WAYS TO SURVIVE
    1) do not have a spotter behind you - he can't lift the bar from there anyway, have spotters on either side or not at all
    2) dump the bar off your back and spring yourself forward
    3) use safeties at just below your bottom bar height
    The safest way to squat is to know how to dump the bar, simple as that

    I see people doing this on bench press all the fricking time especially so called professionals
    They put the safety so low that the bar would be pressing half a foot into their chest if they drop it
    If this guy drops the bar where does his body go to escape the bar?
    Nowhere, the bar is below his total range of motion, he has no escape at all

    As a natty I’ve survived +10 fails at 180kg. Most were just me sitting down and wondering wtf to do and then dump it backwards, the rest I just put it on the safeties. Theres a reason people want you to squat ATG. When you fail on your way up, you can also just sit down atg and think.

    There was one time I was squatting outside in the rain and I fell forwards and had to frog jump while throwing the bar backwards. Was the closest to death I’ve experienced working out.
